This episode marks a new phase of the show with the introduction of a co-host! But first, I play the nice song Tony and Maggot Brain, aka God, from Conversations with God Podcast made for me upon becoming a patron (again) The unveiling the co-host follows. And he is...Lyman Smith! A Facebook friend and fiance of my friend Natalie Newell, I finally got to meet him at the American Atheists Conference in Cincinnati, which was in April of 2019. He is incredibly intelligent, empathetic, and funny, as well as like some sort of hacker guy. We had a mostly rambling discussion about our beers and current events, including the current Turkey invasion of Syria debacle; Trump being an idiot in general; Ellen DeGeneres buddying up with Dubya; grown men being scared of Greta Thunberg; crazy cats; and so much more. Don't forget if you have a suggestion for the name of the podcast to tweet the show using the hashtag #TPPPNewName, despite it being derided and mocked by a specific listener. I am really excited about this new direction, and I'm ecstatic to have Lyman on board. I hope you agree. Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
Welcome to another episode of the The Podunk Polymath Podcast! On this installment of everyone's favorite Southern podcast, I speak with newly minted friend Lyman Smith. We first talk about our first meeting, along with his lovely fiancée and friend of the show Natalie Newell, at the American Atheists Convention 2019 in Cincinnati, and our experiences at the convention, including how his Backpack Old Fashioned became the Official Drink of the American Atheists Convention 2019. We then talk about his approach to parenting as an atheist and freethinker. He mentions the importance of teaching his son empathy and kindness, as well as being honest and forthright when answering difficult questions, including those pertaining to the existence of God. Lyman is a great guy, and this was an enlightening conversation. Hopefully any current or prospective parents who are listening will gain some insight from this interview. Natalie Newell was just a science loving mom who wanted to make a documentary about some other science loving moms... but once she did, she found herself the topic of some bizarre conspiracies! We talk about that experience, and we discuss some common anti-scientific attitudes in this country, like chiropractic, vaccinations, GMOs, and alternative medicine. Leave Thomas a voicemail! Episode 071! This week, it's just us. We talk about a lot of things, including harassment, cyberstalking, and social justice that's surrounded Dan, Natalie, and others over the past year, that seemed to spike in intensity subsequent to us making the radical suggestion in episode 035 that you probably shouldn't punch people due to ideological reasons. Irony, thy name is extremist "social justice" advocates. Dan can't get past this one - we might have to do an investigative dive into the nexus of skull-loving culture with Trump supporters with racism. It's absolutely fascinating (and the memes pretty funny). Full show archive: http://ScienceEnthusiastPodcast.com

It's time once again for another exciting episode of The Triple Po! In the pre-ramble I give a synopsis of what happened at the second iteration of Atheists at the Pub. Spoiler : It was fucking awesome! I then mention my drunken appearance on Brainstorm Podcast, and especially my rant about an article regarding trans people and dating. Also, friend and previous guest on the show Natalie Newell was on The Scathing Atheist to talk about her documentary 'Science Moms'. For the palaver of, I have host of Reasonable Risk podcast to talk about gentrification. We talk the definition of gentrification, asking well as the pros and cons. We then offer up ways that a balance might be achieved between the needs of developers and those people who are being harmed by the effects of gentrification. On the post-ramble I apologize for the shitty sound quality of my side of the interview, which almost certainly a result of the laptop mic somehow being uses as opposed to my regular microphone. And once again because I have a shitty memory and I forgot to mention the fact in the pre-ramble, I mention that the show logo was spruced up a bit, just in time for the #OneYearPodunkiversary. Speaking of that, I also forgot to mention in the pre-ramble that the one-year anniversary live show is coming up on August 12th. Make sure you 'call in' via Google Hangouts. It should be a lot of fun. There might even be some Facebook karaoke involved! Thanks for listening, and I hope y'all enjoy the show! Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash

Welcome to another fun-filled episode of the podcast you love to hate, The Podunk Polymath Podcast! On the pre-ramble this week I give my commentary on the riots that happened in Berkeley Saturday pitting anti-fascists against Trump supporters, which has people arguing AGAIN about the merits of punching Nazis. On the palaver this week I speak with co-host of The Science Enthusiast Podcast; creator and director of the documentary 'Science Moms'; creator the Skeptical Parenting Facebook page; badass mother of two children; and jizz enthusiast Natalie Newell. We had a great conversation about the podcast she co-hosts with Dan Broadbent, which consists mostly of guests and dick jokes. We then talk about her documentary which aims to give parents the skills to make rational, evidence-based decisions about their children's health. Finally we talk about her love of memes and she uses them to lure people to her page in the hopes that they will stay from the important stuff. There is a lot of cursing and hilarity this week on the show, a I think y'all will enjoy Natalie's wit and ability to curse like a sailor. Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
