February 1st, 2026 | Encounter | Isaiah 64:1-4What does it really mean to pray for revival—and why aren't more believers desperate for it?In this message from the Encounter series, Pastor Todd Kaunitz unpacks the biblical meaning of revival: to live again. Drawing from Isaiah's cry in Isaiah 64:1–4, Pastor Todd walks through five powerful themes that shape a genuine prayer for revival—crisis, visitation, transformation, remembrance, and longing. This sermon confronts the spiritual crisis facing God's people, calls for a fresh visitation of God's presence, and explores how true revival transforms not only the church but entire cultures. From historic awakenings like the First and Second Great Awakenings, the 1857 Prayer Revival, the Welsh Revival, and the Jesus Movement, to modern glimpses of God's presence, listeners are reminded that every move of God is preceded by desperate, faithful prayer.Like a barren desert waiting for rain, this message calls the church to wait actively, cry out boldly, and believe that God still pours Himself out on those who seek Him.A timely and stirring call to pray for more than a mist—for a torrential downpour of God's Spirit.Do you know JESUS?: https://www.nblongview.org/do-you-know-jesusNeed PRAYER?: https://www.nblongview.org/praySUPPORT through giving: https://www.nbbctx.org/giving

This sermon launches a three-week series on Prayer and Revival, calling the church to pursue a deeper, Spirit-filled life. Scott explains that revival is not hype or a planned event but an extraordinary outpouring of the Spirit that awakens people to God, brings repentance, and fills believers with fresh zeal. He gives three appeals: Believe – be awakened to God's eagerness to pour out His Spirit and refuse to settle for spiritual mediocrity; Weep – see the Church and world from God's perspective, allowing holy sorrow to fuel prayer; and Consecrate – deal ruthlessly with sin and remove distractions that crowd out devotion. Without prayerful consecration, we remain spiritually dry and ineffective. The message calls the church to reorient life around the pursuit of God, making prayer, fasting, and devotion top priorities, preparing for a fresh move of the Spirit in this generation.
Henry E., better known as “Hank” Erwin, is widely known as the “storyteller of motivation!” His talent for telling stories that both entertain and result in commitment and action on the part of his listeners is legendary. Hank learned the art of storytelling from his late father, Medal of Honor Recipient Henry “Red” Erwin, who held small crowds spellbound with stories of bravery in World War II. Hank became a committed Christian in college and married his sweetheart Shelia Daniel the day before his graduation. They have now been together for 53 years and have two married sons, and seven grandchildren. They reside in Spring Hill, Tennessee. But it was telling stories that guided Hank's life. He attended Dallas Seminary in Texas to become a preacher. But during those days, God opened a door into radio and TV leading him to become an on-air personality. So, instead of becoming a preacher, Hank plunged into media for nearly thirty years as a journalist and talk show host. He soon became a media advocate for pro-life and family values, patriotism, and conservative issues. All that eventually won him awards and notice in Alabama among voters looking for fresh faces in the world of politics. So in 2002, Hank was elected to the Alabama State Senate, serving two terms as a firebrand for conservative family values across the state. He fought to bring gambling to a standstill and helped usher in a whole new Republican government for the people of Alabama. However, strange as it may sound, it was his bedtime stories that really changed history! As a loving father, he told his two sons bedtime stories when they were very young. For example, he used Woodlawn football stories that were so colorful that it ultimately ignited their imaginations to the point that they wanted to become movie makers! So, forty years later the world now knows the famous Erwin Brothers, Andy and Jon, who have gone on to produce and direct ten faith-based motion pictures, all of which that have garnered Dove Awards for outstanding achievements in Christian film! You will undoubtedly recall many of them, including “October Baby,” “Woodlawn,” “I Can Only Imagine,” “Jesus Revolution” and “House of David.” Hank now spends some of his time traveling around the country telling stories in banquets and churches to entertain and motivate people. But, recently Hank also assumed the role of leading a nation-wide movement for revival and spiritual awakening called the Great American Prayer Revival, or GAP26. This effort has the potential to be used by God to bring much-needed healing to America. In this podcast, Hank tells how, when he was in college, God lovingly brought him to faith in Christ and then, through a wide variety of career moves, to where he currently is now leading GAP26, a nation-wide effort to bring much-needed revival and spiritual awakening to America. You will find his call to get involved with this important effort very compelling! For more information, go to GAP-event.org.

Prayer Revival #RTTBROS #Nightlight The Man Who Prayed Down Revival"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16Back in 1830, a young man named Jeremiah Lanphier was hired as a missionary to downtown New York City. The area was rough, filled with businesses and boarding houses, and seemed like the last place you'd expect to see God move in a mighty way. Jeremiah looked around at all the spiritual darkness and felt overwhelmed by the task before him.But instead of giving up, he did something simple but powerful. He put up a little sign that read: "Prayer Meeting from 12:00 to 1:00. Stop 5, 10, or 20 minutes, or the whole hour, as your time admits."On September 23, 1857, Jeremiah climbed those stairs to the little room he had prepared, spread out his handkerchief, and knelt down to pray. For thirty minutes, he prayed alone. Then he heard footsteps on the stairs. One man came in, then another, and then another, until six men were gathered together in prayer. Now, I've been in plenty of prayer meetings that started with just a handful of folks, and let me tell you, it's easy to get discouraged when you look around and see more empty chairs than full ones. But Jeremiah didn't let that stop him. He kept that prayer meeting going every day at noon. The next week, fourteen people came. The week after that, twenty-three. Within six months, over ten thousand people were gathering daily for prayer in New York City alone. The revival spread like wildfire across the nation. In two years, over one million people came to Christ in what historians call the "Prayer Revival of 1857."All because one man believed that prayer could make a difference. All because Jeremiah Lanphier understood what James teaches us in our verse today: when righteous people pray with passion and persistence, much gets accomplished.Maybe you're looking at your church, your family, your community, and you're thinking, "Lord, this place needs a move of God." Well, friend, it might just start with you. It might start with you deciding to take prayer seriously, to gather a few others together, and to seek God's face with all your heart.Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out.https://linktr.ee/rttbros

Prayer is an art. Anyone can pray, of course, just like any kid with a marker can make art. Like any art form, though, it's a skill that anyone can get better at by learning from the masters of the past and practicing it in your everyday life. In this ten-week teaching series, as we continue to learn what it looks like to “devote ourselves to prayer” in 2024, we're going to explore what the Bible says about the art of prayer and make room to practice it.
In all of the years I have studied the history of Revival, nothing comes close to the scope and reach of the Prayer Revival of 1857-1858 and the resulting revivals in the U K and elsewhere.

God used a prayer meeting to usher in a revival over one hundred and fifty years ago.
Imagine going to a prayer meeting where only a few people show up and they're all late! You probably wouldn't think it was the start to a nationwide revival. But God did use a prayer meeting just like that to usher in a revival over one hundred and fifty years ago. Hear all about it on Revive Our Hearts with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. It's important to plug into the Body of Christ. We can talk about revival all we want to, but it's meaningless if we're not actively pursuing revival in our own lives and within our church family. Continuing with the series on revivals in America, John discusses the prayer Revival that swept the nation, the setting that made it so fitting for its time, and the effect it had on the society, the Civil War and the whole World.
The revival at Asbury is still going strong. What does that mean?
