While the last, ‘Oceanside’ mix, explored tranquility of a beach, I’m starting 2013 with a desert theme mix; a place also filled with sand but, instead of the soothing sounds of surf, we explore silence and sensation of open space one can find in a desert. While many tracks in this mix come from netlabel releases and lesser known artists, I also included some rarities by fairly recognizable names like Massive Attack’s remix of Nusrat Fateh Ali Knah “Mustt Mustt”, Liquid Stranger’s early track “Between the bubbles” and Robin Guthrie’s (of Cocteau Twins fame) collaboration with ambient pianist Harold Budd.
