Welcome to The B-Side! Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between. Today we discuss America's everyman and one of its most indelible movie stars: James Stewart! Our returning guest is our dear friend Mitchell Beaupre, Head of Editorial at Letterboxd and our B-Sides today include Vivacious Lady, You Gotta Stay Happy, No Highway in the Sky, The Far Country, and Fools' Parade. We debate what it is exactly that made Stewart so relatable and endearing to millions, we marvel at his WWII service and how it affected his on-screen demeanor, and we acknowledge that even though he starred in dozens of westerns most people still remember him better as George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life. Mitchell, Conor, and I discuss the incredible films he made with Anthony Mann, the late pictures he made with Andrew V. McLaglen, and the early starring roles in his career. We also mention how he was one of the most reliable box office stars over decades, a legendary ladies man in his younger days, and a staunch conservative throughout his life. There's also the already-infamous trailer for the forthcoming James Stewart biopic. Wow, does it look bad! Listen below and subscribe here. Welcome back to the holiday season at the Video Store Podcast. I'm back today with another edition of Rankin/Bass B-Sides. I love Rankin/Bass so much, and they're part of just about every holiday season for me. Here are four more lesser-known Rankin/Bass B-Sides for you to enjoy this holiday season. And bonus! If you missed it last year, go back and check out my original edition of “Rankin/Bass B-Sides.”Cricket on the Hearth (1967)Starring Danny and Marlo Thomas as father/daughter duo Caleb and Bertha, this is a heartwarming adaptation of a lesser-known Charles Dickens Christmas classic. This special has great tunes, and the titular cricket, Cricket Crocket, is voiced by brilliant character actor Roddy McDowall. This special also features the talents of Ed Ames, Hans Conried, Paul Frees, and singer Abbe Lane. The First Christmas: The Story of the First Christmas Snow (1975)Can a young orphaned shepherd boy find a new home and still keep his sheep? This special is notable for its beautiful animation, songs, and stars the late, great Angela Lansbury as Sister Theresa. Cozy up under a wool blanket and with some wool socks, and join us for this lesser-known Christmas special. The Stingiest Man in Town (1978)Based on the stage musical of the same name, this is an animated adaptation of Charles Dickens' iconic novela, A Christmas Carol. This animated musical features the talents of Walter Matthau as Scrooge, Tom Bosley as B. A. H. Humbug, our insect narrator, voice acting legend Paul Frees as the ghosts of Christmas Past and Present, among others. The music in this special is top-tier, so be sure to check it out, especially if you love a song and dance number in your holiday specials. Jack Frost (1979)This iconic mythologizing of this winter sprite, Jack Frost, is a fish-out-of-water tale as Jack learns to be human. Can he win the heart of the girl he loves and remain human? This is a special with catchy tunes and loads of fun. You'll feel a chill in the air, but warmth in your heart. Thanks again for joining us at the Video Store Podcast. From all of us, to all of you, have a safe and happy holiday season. Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work. This is a public episode. On today's episode, Kara welcomes Yousuf Ahmed, Founder and CEO of B-SIDES — the Brooklyn-based upcycled snack brand turning overlooked ingredients into bold, crave-worthy puffs and quickly becoming one of the most compelling sustainability-driven food stories today. What began with a simple question — what happens to the leftover oats from oat milk production? — led Yousuf to transform what was once considered waste into high-protein, low-sugar snacks that are reshaping how modern consumers think about clean eating. With a background that spans music, finance, and now food entrepreneurship, Yousuf has built B-SIDES into a brand that fuses sustainability with serious flavor, proving that doing good for the planet can also taste really, really good.In this episode, Yousuf shares how he made the bold jump from advising ultra-high-net-worth clients at Goldman Sachs to reinventing the snack aisle, what he learned about risk and fulfillment along the way, and how upcycling became a powerful engine for both purpose and profit. He opens up about the challenges of building in a crowded CPG landscape, the breakthroughs that validated B-SIDES early on, and the mindset shifts required to leave behind one identity and fully step into another. Packed with insights on reinvention, brand building, sustainability, and consumer behavior, Yousuf's journey is a powerful example of how a single overlooked ingredient — and an even more overlooked opportunity — can fuel a new category entirely. For the latest edition of Bootlegs & B-Sides, I've selected some absolute beauties, to help put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip.
Paul asks the question every critic of grace loves to throw: If we're saved by free grace and not by law-keeping, why not just keep sinning? In this final B-Sides of the year, Pastor Jon and Pastor Rusten dive into Romans 6 and show why the answer is a resounding “By no means!” Union with Christ's death and resurrection, the end of slavery to sin, and the myth of neutrality all show that grace doesn't permit sin—it kills it. Merry Christmas, everyone! We hope you enjoy, and as usual, if you have any questions for Sermon B-Sides or anything else, email us at pastor@coramdeochurch.org.
Welcome to The B-Side! Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between. Today we talk about someone who played Bond, James Bond, and Blanc, Benoit Blanc. It's Daniel Craig! Our returning guest is the great Gavin Mevius, co-host of both The Mixed Reviews Podcast and The Q Division on Glitterjaw. Our B-Sides today include The Mother, Enduring Love, The Golden Compass, and Cowboys & Aliens. We also spend some time on The Invasion. We remember the controversy of Craig's being blonde and being cast as Bond (silly!), as well as the early roles he took on before our B-Sides. There's conversation on the films of Roger Michell and if he really is some version of Mike Leigh lite. There's also an earnest debate about which film is worse: The Golden Compass or Cowboys & Aliens? Mild shock takes hold as we three recall both that HBO did in fact make FULL THREE SEASONS of His Dark Materials (!) and the somewhat disingenuous, cash-grabby way Cowboys & Aliens came to be.
BGMania B-Sides #36 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Composed by Patrick Crecelius and Zach Fendelman, known together as Fat Bard, its soundtrack carries that spirit beautifully. It layers warm acoustic textures, airy synths, and intimate melodic themes to create a soundscape that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new. In this episode of Sermon B-Sides, Pastor Jon and Pastor Rusten explore the fruits of justification by faith: peace with God, hope that endures, and a love poured out for the undeserving. Today on the show, Bedroth dives into the stylish and cinematic world of 10,000 Bullets, the PlayStation 2 action game developed by Blue Moon Studio and directed by Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of Suikoden.
