I was joined by Abel (https://twitter.com/bundespl?lang=en) to talk all things Bundesliga! First up, we talked about Robert Lewandowski's future. Is he going to leave Bayern Munich this summer? The Munich Hierarchy certainly seem to think so- so why are there so many rumours this time around? At 29- this could be his last chance to make that blockbuster move.... Next up we talk about probably the Bundesliga's hottest prospect; Leon Bailey. Does his future lie in England? Could he indeed play in England? Abel does his best to dissect this incredibly complex situation! The German national team isn't short of quality but perhaps the left back spot is where they are weakest. Is it really up for grabs? Or will Jonas Hector. Will Phillip Max who leads the league in assists pip him for the left full-back spot? Are premier league teams really gunning for the German youngster? Back to the Bundesliga- what has been at the heart of Schalke's revival? Abel talks us through what effect the manager has had as well as some of the revitalised squad. But will it be stripped apart in the summer with a certain Max Meyer having six months left on his contract? From one German youngster to an even younger one- Jann-Fiete Arp looks to be one of the brightest talents coming through in Germany. With Hamburger looking like they could go down and with 1 year left on his contract in the summer, where could he go in the summer? Germany aren't short of young talent are they and Mahmoud Dahoud was outstanding for their u21 side in recent friendlies. I asked Abel where he saw Dahoud in a few years? Can he break into the senior team in the near future? Moving on- we talked about English youngsters. Why are the likes of Ademola Lookman, Jadon Sancho and Reece Oxford moving to Germany? Will this trend continue? Abel talks about the gross amount of money in the premier league as well as the lack of opportunity for your average youngster. He also mentions the lack of coaching pedigree across the league when compared to the rest of Europe. One of the most coveted talents in Europe is most certainly Timo Werner who will lead the line for Germany this coming World Cup. But will he be in the Bundesliga next season? Could he potentially be part of a domino effect when/if Lewandowski leaves this Summer? Abel discusses all of this and more. One of the most interesting questions posed by listeners was whether or not some of the players playing in potentially relegated teams in the Bundesliga, could move on if they go down a division. Abel rattled off a list longer than your arm for everyone to check out on the Index! The next section was all about Naby Keita and RB Leipzig. What can liverpool fans expect of him? Abel seems to think world domination...that's how highly he rates him! But perhaps more interestingly- who fills the void? Leipzig's never ending conveyor belt of talent surely must have a diamond in the rough that could step into the starting XI?! We also discuss who else could be poached from their team, namely talking about the future of one Emil Forsberg, as as well as Dayot Upamecano. Finally we talk about Arturo Vidal. With one year left on his contract, is this the season he finally ends up in England? If he leaves- how big a part does Leon Goretzka have in filling the void? The pod is back with a bang - the Rhine derby is on the menu, and boy was it a rotten menu. A 1-2 defeat to archrivals Cologne with the decisive goal in the last seconds of the match leaves all Borussia supports heartbroken. Raffael had equalized for the Foals, but an overall meek performance was, again, not enough to beat a feisty opposition. Manuel runs you through the game and quickly discusses the two talking points of the winter break, the signing of Reece Oxford and Max Eberl's vocal outburst against the supporters during the HSV match.
Join Louis Mendez, Tom Wallin and Nathan Muller as they discuss the potential departure of Tony Watt to Blackburn on loan and track the roller coaster ride that was Reece Oxford’s apparent close shave with signing for the Addicks. They discuss the Kent Senior Cup win over Bromley, hearing from u21s gaffer Simon Clarke and striker Josh Umerah, who recently made his first team debut. Then the guys look ahead to this weekend’s massive game with Rotherham United. In the 7th edition of The Spencer FC Podcast myself & Thomas Gray are joined by The Secret Agent, a masked insider with more knowledge on football transfers than you can shake a stick at! But who is he? Why does he wear a mask? And did he really get Reece Oxford a Pizza Hut deal? Please subscribe, rate and enjoy!
