Host Ricky Sacks was joined by TJ Ramini, Mitch Fretton and Jonny Hamme as inconsistency struck Tottenham Hotspur again as they were held at home by Fulham in the Premier League. Spurs, who were missing several key players through injury and suspension, had to withstand severe pressure before taking a 54th-minute lead through Brennan Johnson. The Wales forward volleyed home his sixth league goal of the season from close range after being teed up by Timo Werner's cross. But Fulham, who had the better chances in the game, deservedly equalised 13 minutes later through captain Tom Cairney, who was then sent off with seven minutes left for a late challenge on the back of Dejan Kulusevski's leg. Cairney, who had only just come on as a substitute, lashed a first-time left-footed shot home from 18 yards after being picked out by Alex Iwobi. Title says it all, really. Five losses and a draw after being up 3-0 … there has surely never been a bleaker moment in a Pep team. Maybe Rodri really is just that important, as Jacob explains through an insightful “field tilt” visualization. Our first Dilemma Deliberation is more theoretical (though very applicable): Is it better to start a goalkeeper from a worse defense against a worse attack, or a goalkeeper from a better defense against a better attack? We posit that it's quite helpful to imagine yourself owning an attacker from each of the opposing teams and comparing how confident you feel in each attacker. On a very practical note, we then consider a few teams whose fixtures are about to plummet and look at potential replacements for popular assets from these teams. Along the way, Darwin Núñez, Alejandro Garnacho, Timo Werner, and Adama Traoré get mentioned in the same group; brownie points if you can figure out what it is! Finally, we round the episode off with captaincy—would it be madness to captain any player against City? In their current pep-less (intentionally lowercase, mind you) state, perhaps not … Follow us on Twitter: @FplFortress

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Richard 'Crackers' Cracknell along with actors Ricky J Norwood and TJ Ramini as Ange Postecoglou's quest to end Tottenham's trophy drought continued as victory over Manchester City booked a Carabao Cup quarter-final with Manchester United. The Spurs boss claimed recently he always wins silverware in his second season - and remained on course to fulfil his promise after an entertaining, eventful encounter. Timo Werner, who had a mixed evening, scored his first goal of the season with an emphatic finish after five minutes, before Pape Sarr doubled the home advantage 20 minutes later with a with superb low right-foot finish from 25 yards. Spurs, though, suffered a setback when they lost key defender Micky van de Ven with a hamstring injury in the 14th minute, and City setting up a tense second half when Matheus Nunes pulled one back in the fourth minute of first-half added time. City keeper Stefan Ortega kept his side in the contest with fine saves from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevki and Richarlison, while Werner fired wide when clean through before limping off with a groin muscle injury. City, who suffered a casualty of their own when the lively Savinho was taken off on a stretcher, almost snatched a late leveller, but Yves Bissouma made a superb block on the line from Nico O'Reilly's effort. Spurs, without a trophy since their 2008 win in this competition, will be delighted to have bounced back from the weekend's disappointing Premier League loss at Crystal Palace with such a significant win. They will now host another Manchester side in United, with the game taking place in the week commencing 16 December. Yep, you read that right.Elsewhere, Man United's players paid tribute to Erik ten Hag by smashing Leicester - even Casemiro had a good time - while a vintage Newcastle blew Chelsea's back up boys away. Host Lee McQueen is joined by returning panellists Jason McGovern, Ricky Norwood and Tim Winstone via Spurs Song Sheet as Son Heung-min scored twice as Tottenham edged past a team of the best players from South Korea's top flight to secure a 4-3 friendly win. Dejan Kulusevski opened the scoring after 29 minutes before South Korea and Spurs captain Son made his mark on his homecoming in Seoul. He curled an effort into the top corner after 38 minutes and slotted home a Kulusevski assist to give his side a 3-0 lead by the break. But Team K League pulled two back in the second half after replacing their entire team at the break with Stanislav Iljutcenko netting twice within five minutes of the restart. That prompted Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou to make changes and substitute Will Lankshear volleyed home a Timo Werner cross to give them a two-goal cushion. Oberdan responded for the hosts with nine minutes left to play but Spurs held on to seal victory, with James Maddison hitting the post in injury time. They are back in pre-season action on Saturday, when they take on Bayern Munich at 12:00 BST in Seoul. Nominate Last Word On Spurs for Best Podcast - Premier League at the

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee McQueen, Patrick Tyrant and Jason McGovern as Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at the London Stadium as they dropped points in the Champions League race. Spurs had the chance to leapfrog Aston Villa before their game against Manchester City tomorrow but they couldn't take advantage. Brennan Johnson gave Ange Postecoglou's side an early lead as he tapped in from close range after Timo Werner's low cross. That goal rewarded the visitors for their positive start but they were pegged back soon after. Against the run of play, Kurt Zouma equalised from a corner and that reinvigorated the Hammers following a slow opening 15 minutes. Their threat from set pieces frightened Tottenham all evening and they piled on the pressure towards the end of the first half. That pressure would disappear after the break though, with Spurs dominant. However, David Moyes' men would have the best chance to score a winner through Michail Antonio. Antonio shrugged off Micky van de Ven, leaving him one-on-one with Guglielmo Vicario from six yards, but he shot straight at the goalkeeper. That chance was the only major opportunity for both teams in the second half and neither could find a winner as the game ended level. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee McQueen, Russ Williams and Jason McGovern as Tottenham missed the chance to move into the Premier League top four as Rodrigo Muniz scored two more goals to fire Fulham to an impressive victory at Craven Cottage. Brazilian Muniz found the net either side of Sasa Lukic's first strike for the Cottagers to take his total to seven goals in his past seven games. The striker slotted home in the first half after controlling Antonee Robinson's cross and then reacted quickest to bundle in the loose ball at a second-half corner in a fully deserved win for the home side. Spurs, who would have gone above fourth-placed Aston Villa with victory, were surprisingly lacklustre from the outset. They would have gone behind early on if not for blocks by Radu Dragusin and Cristian Romero to deny Andreas Pereira, while Guglielmo Vicario also saved well from Lukic. James Maddison shot narrowly wide in the first half and Timo Werner failed to convert with the goal gaping in the second as Ange Postecoglou's side failed to back up impressive wins over Crystal Palace and Villa in the previous two games. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning regular panellists Lee McQueen, Patrick Tyrant and Talia Coren as Tottenham boosted their hopes of a top-four Premier League finish with an emphatic victory over 10-man Aston Villa at Villa Park. In an encounter billed as pivotal in the race for a spot in next season's Champions League, early second-half goals from James Maddison and Brennan Johnson set Spurs on their way. And a seemingly leg-weary Villa side, who played at Ajax on Thursday evening, rarely looked capable of clawing their way back into the contest once captain John McGinn was dismissed for a reckless tackle on visiting left-back Destiny Udogie in the 65th minute. With Spurs in complete control in the closing stages, stoppage-time goals from Son Heung-min and Timo Werner only served to rub salt into Villa's wounds. The hosts remain fourth in the table but are now only two points above Ange Postecoglou's Spurs, who have a game in hand. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning panellists Broadcaster Russ Williams, Actor TJ Ramini and Sport Italia Pundit Simone Dell'Uomo as Tottenham boosted their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League by staging a dramatic late comeback to beat Crystal Palace. Ange Postecoglou's side were heading for back-to-back defeats after Eberechi Eze's opener until two goals in three second-half minutes turned the game around. Timo Werner scored his first goal for the club by converting Brennan Johnson's cross in the 78th minute before Cristian Romero headed in James Maddison's cross in the 80th. Captain Son Heung-min swept home a minute from time to seal the three points, moving his side to within two points of fourth-placed Aston Villa. Werner had failed to convert when played clean through in a forgettable first half in which the hosts failed to break down Palace's stubborn defence. Eze's sweetly-struck free-kick put the visitors ahead in the 59th minute and there were grumbles from the home fans as chances were missed early in the second. But, to their credit, Spurs stuck to their task to inflict a first defeat on Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
