In Vlaanderen vinden meer dan 21000 jongeren met een masterdiploma geen werk. Dat cijfer is sinds 2022 met meer dan de helft gestegen, want toen ging het nog om 13000 jonge alumni. Kunnen we spreken van een heuse jobcrisis, of is dit maar een momentopname? ­ “De paradox is dat bedrijven ervaring bij starters verwachten, maar jonge werkzoekenden geen of zeer weinig ervaring hebben”, zijn journalisten Tine Reynaers en Stijn Decock het eens. “Alhoewel er zeker nog meer grote uitdagingen zijn.” ­ Die uitdagingen zijn niet de minste. Grote bedrijven blijken koudwatervrees te hebben om jongeren aan te werven, AI vormt een te duchten concurrent en als klap op de vuurpijl blijkt het jongeren ook nog te ontbreken aan sociale vaardigheden op de werkvloer, stelde Financial Times recent nog vast. ­ Is alle hoop dan verloren voor de jonge hoogopgeleiden onder ons? “Zeker niet”, volgens Tine, “er zijn nog veel kansen voor jonge mensen, als ze zich flexibel kunnen opstellen.” Maar is dat geen schrale troost voor jongeren? Latviešu šorttrekists Roberts Krūzbergs startēja Milānas-Kortīnas olimpisko spēļu šorttreka sacensību A finālā 1500m distancē, kurā izcīnīja bronzas medaļu. Par Matīsu Kažu “Apbrīnas ielejā” un ārpus tās. Kultūras rondo tiekamies ar aktieriem pēc pirmizrādes, bet studijā izvaicājam režisoru Matīsu Kažu. "Man liekas, ka šī ir izrāde, kurā iegrimt, bet reizē tas ir sapnis, kurā ir jādomā līdzi, kurā visu laiku ir jābūt intensīvas un, iespējams, arī dažkārt koncentrētas domāšanas stadijā skatītājam. 14. februāri Liepājas koncertzālē "Lielais dzintars" Liepājas Simfoniskais orķestris programmā "Bēthovens un Bartoks. Dialogi orķestrim" tiksies ar igauņu diriģentu Risto Jostu un Londonā dzīvojošo ukraiņu pianistu Nikitu Burzaņicu, kurš 2023. gadā Jāzepa Vītola VIII Starptautiskajā pianistu konkursā ieguva 3. vietu un Liepājas Simfoniskā orķestra simpātiju balvu. 2022. gadā mūziķis saņēma Bēthovena medaļu par izcilu Bēthovena mūzikas interpretāciju. Koncertā Nikitas lasījumā skanēs Bēthovena Ceturtais klavierkoncerts, un Bēthovenam bija veltīta arī saruna ar LR3 "Klasika". Nikita Burzaņica: Bēthovens ir viens no maniem mīļākajiem komponistiem. Runājot par klasisko repertuāru, dodu priekšroku Bēthovenam, nevis, piemēram, Mocartam vai Haidnam, jo, spēlējot Bēthovenu, jūtos pārliecinātāks, man šķiet, ka spēlēju mūziku, ko patiešām saprotu. Bēthovens var būt arī Dusmīgais Bēthovens, piemēram, Piektajā simfonijā vai vairākās sonātēs, piemēram, op. 111, bet Ceturtajā klavierkoncertā viņš ir Priecīgais Bēthovens. Viņš nedomā ne par ko - tā ir vienkārši priecīga mūzika. Domāju, ka saprotu Bēthovenu, tāpēc man tik ļoti patīk viņu spēlēt. Pirmajā daļā ir milzīgs daudzums nošu, un tā ilgst apmēram 20 minūtes, kas Bēthovenam ir diezgan neparasti. Nedomāju, ka tas ir tehniski visgrūtākais koncerts, bet psiholoģiski šo mūziku saprast ir sarežģīti. Un kā ar otrās daļas noslēgumu? Kā jūs to atrisināsiet? Ir ļoti interesanti salīdzināt, cik atšķirīgi pianisti interpretē pēdējās trīs skaņas. Es turu fadiēzu, jo man tā ir šīs daļas sāpīgākā vieta. Tas atrisinās uz mi, šis mi pakāpeniski izzūd un tad pāriet uz trešo daļu attacca. Vai varat mūsu klausītājiem pastāstīt par Bēthovena medaļu, ko saņēmāt pirms četriem gadiem? Tolaik studēju Karaliskajā Mūzikas koledžā, un mums bija koledžas iekšējais Bēthovena konkurss. Es to uzvarēju, un pēc tam mani uzaicināja piedalīties starpkoledžu konkursā, kur piedalījās visu koledžu Bēthovena konkursu uzvarētāji. Arī šajā konkursā uzvarēju. Spēlēju op. 111, un obligātais skaņdarbs bija kāda no bagatellēm, ja nemaldos. Ar sonāti es ļoti smagi strādāju. Kur jūs glabājat šo medaļu? Kopš tā laika esmu četras reizes pārcēlies. Bet zinu, kur medaļa atrodas. Tā nav plauktā, bet koferī kopā ar pārējām medaļām. Dzīvoju Londonā, daudz ceļoju un bieži mainu dzīvesvietu, tāpēc man vēl nav tai pastāvīgas vietas. Vai vēl studējat? Esmu beidzis studijas, bet joprojām apmeklēju nodarbības pie sava profesora. Pastāstiet par savu profesoru. Es studēju pie Dmitrija Aleksejeva, un arī tagad apmeklēju nodarbības pie viņa. Man viņš ir labākais pedagogs Anglijā vai pat pasaulē. Sākumā Aleksejevs nebija pārliecināts, vai mani uzņemt savā klasē. Bakalaura studiju laikā es nespēlēju tik labi, biju jauns un, kā saka, vairāk slaistījos nekā spēlēju. Bet viņš tomēr piekrita mani uzņemt, un tad sāku daudz vairāk strādāt, progresēju, un viņš bija ļoti apmierināts. Viņš pat teica Vanesai Lataršai, Karaliskās Mūzikas koledžas Taustiņinstrumentu nodaļas vadītājai, ka ir ar mani ļoti apmierināts un ka man iet ļoti labi. Esmu par to priecīgs. Pirms dažām dienām Londonā spēlējāt šo klavierkoncertu. Vai tā bija pirmā reize? Jā, tā bija pirmā reize ar orķestri. Laba pieredze. Ansambļa ziņā tas ir daudz vieglāks nekā Trešais klavierkoncerts: ir tikai četras vai piecas vietas, kur diriģentam un man tiešām jāskatās vienam uz otru. Jaunas mūzikas apgūšanu sāku ar lasīšanu no lapas un īpaši Bēthovena gadījumā cenšos uzreiz iemācīties no galvas, jo tas nav kā Rahmaņinovs vai Prokofjevs, kur vajag vairāk laika iegaumēšanai. Bēthovenam ir sistēma un, lai gan iegaumēt nav viegli, harmonisko plānu saprast nav sarežģīti. Tāpēc vispirms iegaumēju notis, un tikai tad sāku eksperimentēt ar mūziku. Kad droši zinu, ko spēlēju, tad sāku pētīt muzikālo saturu. Vai vienmēr spēlējat no galvas? Jā, tas man ir noteikums. Studējot pie Dmitrija Aleksejeva, nekad negāju uz nodarbību ar notīm. Man vienmēr bija jāspēlē no galvas. Ja nebiju iegaumējis, negāju uz nodarbību. Citi studenti varbūt gāja un spēlēja no notīm, bet man vispirms bija jāiemācās no galvas, un tad mēs ar profesoru varējām strādāt dziļāk. Ko atceraties par Liepāju? Liepāja ir ļoti jauka. Man gan īsti nesanāca to izpētīt, jo bija konkurss un mēģinājumi. Bet man patika. Pilsētas centrs ir mazs, bet ļoti mājīgs, īpaši āra bāri. Jā, varbūt ne šajā gadalaikā. Konkurss notika oktobrī. Bija silts. Atceros, ka arī ļoti vējains. Jā, Liepājā vienmēr ir vējains. Kā vērtējat sadarbību ar orķestri? Brīnišķīgi. Man ļoti patika orķestris un arī koncertzāle, tā ir iespaidīga. Liela, bet uz skatuves nejūties saspringti. Un īpaši tas dzintars - ēka tik skaisti veidota, tādā kā apļa formā. Es domāju - kā viņi to dabūja gatavu? Kāda ir jūsu ikdiena Londonā? Daudz staigāju, mācu klavierspēli, vingrinos un kopumā esmu ļoti apmierināts. Strādāju mūzikas studijā par klavieru pedagogu ar bērniem un pieaugušajiem. Ar tiem, kas negrib kļūt par profesionāļiem? Ceru, ka atradīsies arī kāds, kurš grib kļūt par profesionālu pianistu. Bet jā, vairāk tas ir amatieru līmenis, lai gan man ir arī ļoti attīstīti audzēkņi. Studijā, kur strādāju, man parasti uztic tieši spēcīgākos skolēnus. Pastāstiet par ģimeni. Vai visi ir mūziķi? Jā, visi. Pat mana vecmāmiņa bija pianiste. Tā ir ģimenes tradīcija. Mana mamma ir pianiste, un Ukrainā es mācījos pie tās pašas profesores, pie kuras mācījās mamma. Skolotāja pazina mani kopš viena gada vecuma. Tēvs ir trompetists, brālis pianists, vecmāmiņa pianiste, tēvocis saksofonists: mums ir mazs orķestris. Nespēlēt neko nebija iespēju. Vai bērnībā jums patika mūzika? Sākumā nē. Kad esi mazs, gribas spēlēt futbolu. Es gribēju kļūt par futbolistu un spēlēju futbolu starp klavierstundām. Bet, kad 2015. vai 2016. gadā pārcēlos uz Lielbritāniju mācīties Velzas katedrāles skolā, sapratu, ka tā jau ir mana profesija. Biju tur viens un neko citu bez mūzikas nepratu. Man bija jāspēlē labi, citādi nevarētu izdzīvot. Un tad manā galvā kaut kas noklikšķēja. Vai jūsu ģimene arī pameta Ukrainu? Jā, 2023. gadā es viņus uzaicināju uz šejieni. Koncertiem Silvestrovs būtu lieliska programma, bet konkursiem diez vai. Vai jums patīk konkursi vai tie ir tikai solis nākotnei? Man patīk, jo esmu azartisks cilvēks, patīk sacensties. Jaunākās paaudzes vēlētāju acīs tā ieguvusi „onkuļu partijas” reputāciju – pārāk tradicionāla, pārāk remdena, uz pagātnes lauriem dusoša. Kopš 2024. gada parlamenta vēlēšanām liberāldemokrāti un viņu tradicionālie koalīcijas partneri – centriskā partija „Kōmeitō” – veidoja mazākuma valdību, līdz pagājušā gada oktobrī koalīcija pajuka, premjers Išiba atkāpās un Liberāldemokrātiskās partijas stūri pārņēma tās jaunā līdere Sanaje Takaiči, kļūstot par pirmo premjerministri sievieti Japānas vēsturē. Viņas personā liberāldemokrāti ieguva jaunu seju un elpu. No vienas puses, premjerministre ir uzskatos konservatīva – viendzimuma laulību pretiniece un patriotiskas audzināšanas piekritēja; no otras – savā uzvedībā un manierēs vienkārša, atvērta un demokrātiska. Sevišķi pamanāma ir viņas prasme komunicēt sociālajos tīklos un uzrunāt jauniešu auditoriju, kuras vidū viņa tiek dēvēta par Sana-čan – pievārds ‘čan' japāņu valodā apzīmē tuvas draudzības attiecības ar nosaukto personu. Par koalīcijas partneriem Takaiči izvēlējās nevis līdzšinējos centristus, bet gan krietni labējāko un populistiskāko Japānas Inovāciju partiju. Vēl viens zīmīgs moments ir premjeres prasme atrast kopīgu valodu ar Savienoto Valstu līderi Donaldu Trampu. 13. janvārī Takaiči izsludināja ārkārtas parlamenta vēlēšanas. Šis solis ar mērķi konvertēt personīgos reitingus konkrētā partijas politiskajā ietekmē tika vērtēts kā riskants, taču attaisnojās ar uzviju. Svētdien, 8. februārī, notikušajās vēlēšanās liberāldemokrāti svinēja grandiozu uzvaru, iegūstot vēsturiski lielāko pārstāvniecību parlamentā ar 316 vietām no 465. Koalīcijas partneri Inovāciju partija gan pāris vietas zaudējusi, taču tas nozīmīgi nemaina viņu frakcijas lielumu. Savukārt partijas „Kōmeitō” un lielākā opozīcijas spēka Konstitucionāli demokrātiskās partijas izveidotais bloks Centriski reformistiskā alianse piedzīvojis smagu sagrāvi un vairāk nekā divu trešdaļu mandātu zaudējumu. Jaunā situācija Japānas parlamenta apakšpalātā dod premjerministrei Takaiči lielākas iespējas mainīt Japānas konstitūciju, ko viņa iezīmējusi kā politisku mērķi. Tai skaitā, iespējams, varētu tikt mazināts pamatlikuma izteiktais akcents uz militāras darbības ierobežošanu ārpus valsts robežām. Pēc nākšanas pie varas Japānas līdere paziņoja, ka gadījumā, ja Ķīnas tautas republika mēģinātu ar militāru spēku sagrābt Taivānu, ir iespējama Japānas militāra iejaukšanās. Arī tagad no Savienoto Valstu puses tā ir „drednautu diplomātija” – janvāra nogalē Arābijas jūrā ieradās amerikāņu jūras spēku kaujas grupa ar aviācijas bāzes kuģi „Ābrahams Linkolns” priekšgalā. Uz „Linkolna” klāja ir modernākās daudzfunkcionālās kaujas lidmašīnas, iznīcinātāji un elektroniskās karadarbības un izlūkošanas lidaparāti. Kaujas grupas kuģi aprīkoti arī ar spārnotajām raķetēm „Tomahawk” un pretraķešu aizsardzības sistēmām. Kā svētdien savā publikācijā izteicās kanāla „Al Jazeera” Dohas institūta politoloģijas asistējošais profesors Muhanads Selūns, svarīgākais rādītājs neesot tas, kas tiek teikts par sarunām, bet gan tie, kas sēdušies pie sarunu galda. No Savienoto Valstu puses tas ir vispārzināmais sarunvedēju pāris Stīvens Vitkofs un Džareds Kušners, kā arī ASV Centrālās pavēlniecības komandieris admirālis Breds Kūpers. Šis vīrs ar uzplečiem esot dzīvs atgādinājums Irānas pusei, ka nepiekāpībai var būt smagas un ātras sekas. Tomēr draudīgais tonis pagaidām nav darījis Teherānu piekāpīgāku, ciktāl runa ir par sarunu priekšmetu kā tādu. Irāna uzstāj, ka ir gatava runāt par savu kodolprogrammu, piekrītot pārtraukt urāna bagātināšanu apmaiņā pret sankciju atcelšanu, bet nekādā ziņā ne par ko citu – ne raķešu ieroču attīstības programmu, ne atbalstu teroristiskajām organizācijām „Hamas” un „Hezbollah” un hutiešu nemierniekiem Jemenā, ne, protams, par cilvēktiesību situāciju Irānas iekšienē. Plašākajā sarunu tvērumā ir īpaši ieinteresēta Izraēla, un tiek spriests, ka premjerministra Netanjahu šodienas visai pēkšņā vizīte Vašingtonā varētu būt saistīta ar vēlmi ietekmēt amerikāņu pozīciju. Katrā ziņā Irānas ārlietu ministrs Abāss Arāgči jau brīdinājis Vašingtonu nepaļauties Izraēlas premjera destruktīvajiem centieniem. Pie tam Irānas iekšpolitiskā situācija šajā diplomātiskajā izspēlē acīmredzami atstumta otrajā plānā, un pasaule turpina noskatīties, kā režīms, noslīcinājis asinīs nesenos protestus, turpina piegriezt skrūves. No Teherānas pienāk ziņas, ka arestēti vairāki prominenti reformistiskas ievirzes politiķi, tāpat ārsti, kas snieguši palīdzību ievainotiem janvāra protestu dalībniekiem. Cilvēktiesību aktīvisti pauž bažas, ka cietumos notiek arestēto protestu dalībnieku slepkavošana. Pekina demonstrē totalitārisma tvērienu Honkongā Pirmdien, 9. februārī, tiesa Honkongā pasludināja spriedumu mediju magnāta Laja Čī-jina, plašāk pazīstama kā Džimija Lai, lietā. Septiņdesmit astoņus gadus vecajam apsūdzētajam piespriesti divdesmit gadi cietumā. Tagad slēgtā laikraksta „Apple Daily” dibinātājs tika apcietināts 2020. gada augustā un pēc apmēram piecus gadus ilgušā procesa atzīts par vainīgu sazvērestībā ar ārzemju spēkiem un musinošu tekstu publicēšanā. Kā paziņoja tiesa, apsūdzētā vainu pastiprina tas, ka viņš esot bijis ārvalstu inspirētas sazvērestības galvenais plānotājs un virzītājspēks. Ar publikācijām savā izdevumā viņš esot aģitējis par ārvalstu sankciju ieviešanu pret Ķīnu. Savu biznesa karjeru sācis apģērbu ražošanas un mazumtirdzniecības jomā, Lai vēlāk pievērsās mediju jomai, izveidojot lielāko Honkongas mediju kompāniju „Next Digital” un jau pieminēto laikrakstu „Apple Daily”. Konfrontācijā ar Ķīnas totalitāro režīmu viņu noveda 2019. – 2020. gada Honkongas protesti, kad Džimijs Lai nostājās demokrātisko spēku pusē, gan personiski kritizēdams Pekinas režīma rīcību, gan uzturēdams attiecīgu ievirzi savos preses izdevumos, gan sniegdams demokrātiskajiem spēkiem finansiālu atbalstu. Ar šo cietumsodu Ķīnas vara nepārprotami demonstrē, ka ikvienam, kas stāsies ceļā tās plāniem pēc iespējas drīz iedabūt Honkongu totalitārās valsts tiesiskajā un politiskajā rāmī, nav ko cerēt uz žēlastību. Kā norādījis Lielbritānijā dzīvojošais notiesātā dēls Sebastjens Lai, ievērojot viņa tēva sirds stāvokli un to, ka pērngad vien viņš zaudējis desmit kilogramus svara, faktiski šis uzlūkojams kā nāves spriedums. Džimijs Lai kopš 1994. gada ir arī Lielbritānijas pavalstnieks, un britu ārlietu ministre Iveta Kūpere paziņojusi, ka valdība darīs visu iespējamo, lai panāktu viņa atbrīvošanu. Tikām skarbu opozīcijas kritiku izpelnījies britu premjerministrs Kīrs Stārmers, kurš pirms pāris nedēļām viesojās Pekinā, vienojās par vīzu režīma atvieglojumiem britu tūristiem un mazāku ievedmuitu viskijam, taču, kā šķiet, nepratās neko darīt tiesājamā demokrātijas aizstāvja labā. De overbevolking in de gevangenissen raakt maar niet opgelost. En nu duikt de naam van minister Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) ook op in een ander netelig dossier waar veel overheidsgeld mee gemoeid is. Wat betekent dat voor haar functioneren? “Zolang er geen schandalen gebeuren, zal Verlinden wel op de steun van haar partij CD&V kunnen rekenen”, zegt onze collega van de Wetstraatredactie Valerie Droeven. Maar dat betekent niet dat haar coalitiegenoten in de federale regering haar onvoorwaardelijk blijven steunen. “Zij verwijten haar het been stijf te houden.” Dat gaat dan over het dossier van de overbevolking in de gevangenissen, dat maar niet opgelost raakt. Maar door een ander dossier staat ook haar geloofwaardigheid op het spel: toen Verlinden in de regering De Croo minister van Binnenlandse Zaken was, gunde zij de opdracht voor een digitaliseringsproject bij de politie aan het bedrijf Sopra Steria. Dat project heeft miljoenen gekost, maar is geflopt. En nu blijkt dat Verlinden enkele jaren daarvoor als advocate voor datzelfde bedrijf heeft opgetreden. Belangenvermenging? Helemaal niet, zegt Verlinden. Maar de oppositie heeft bloed geroken en eist uitleg in het parlement. Dat zijn dus wel veel problemen voor Verlinden. Staat ze stilaan geïsoleerd? The Reds overcame an uninspiring opening half an hour that saw them fall behind to bounce back emphatically with a 4-1 win over Newcastle in which once again the flourishing partnership of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike came to the fore.  Ekitike scored twice and Wirtz added a third before an emotional Ibou Konate honoured his late father with a goal at the Kop end. TLW Editor Dave Usher and Paul Natton look back on an enjoyable night at Anfield and look ahead to what will hopefully be another against City next week.

Bij protesten tegen de migratiepolitie ICE in Minneapolis hebben federale agenten zaterdag een Amerikaanse burger gedood - alweer. Kiest Trump voor de-escalatie door ICE uit Minneapolis terug te roepen, of is hij uit op nog meer chaos? ­ In Minneapolis komen mensen al weken op straat om te protesteren tegen de federale migratiepolitie ICE. En dat kostte de 37-jarige demonstrant Alex Pretti zaterdag het leven. Omstaanders filmden hoe hij door agenten van de grenspolitie met tien kogels werd gedood. Die federale agenten waren daar om ICE bij te staan. ­ In Minneapolis, en de staat Minnesota, hebben ze er genoeg van, vertelt Amerikakenner Steven De Foer. Want Pretti is al het tweede dodelijke slachtoffer in nog geen drie weken tijd. Volgens Trump is dat hun eigen schuld, en die van de Democraten, omdat zij niet met ICE willen samenwerken om migranten zonder papieren op te pakken. Maar zelfs sommige Republikeinse senatoren vinden nu: het is genoeg geweest. ­ “Het huidige klimaat doet mij een beetje denken aan wat er in 1968 is gebeurd”, vertelt Steven.
