Head over to Ravelry and sign up :)As usual, my fabulous theme tune is "Casting On" by Mr Roberelli.
This week I have a co-host! My mum Jude is joining me on the podcast and talking about what's on her needles. She's excited about our yarn swap too and we chat a bit about that, new lambs being born and lots of other things ....The photo is the wee sweater on Jude's needles - she's using some yarn I dyed recently and is making a tiny sweater for my youngest brother's "twinkle in his eye" - there's no sign of a baby or a partner but best to be prepared! Are you joining in the yarn swap? As of today we've had 57 people sign up - roughly half from NZ and the other half scattered around the rest of the world.I'm keeping the Ravelry thread open until 1 October - so hop over and let me know if you fancy joining in.Do you have a preference about colours or yarn weight for the swap? Are you intolerant to a particular fibre or food? Do you want a happy surprise? Tell us in the Ravelry thread so your partner can get a feel of what you'd enjoy. As usual, fabulous theme tune by Mr Roberelli :)p.s. the "cleaning music" Jude mentions is a tribute to Led Zepplin by Annie & Nancy Wilson - Stairway to Heaven.

I'm planning a swap for October - let's share some local yarn love with someone on the other side of the world! Head over to the Ravelry group to find out more and let me know if you're interested in joining in.See you next week!As always, music by the very fabulous Mr Roberelli.
If you're enjoying the podcast and want to catch up with Truly Myrtle goings-on in other places you can find me on Instagram and Facebook. We also have a Ravelry group so come and say "hi!".I'm making progress with my outfit. The sweater and hat are made and the patterns are being tested. For the Sweater I used Skeinz organic merino/alpaca in the "porcelain" colourway and the hat is knitted in stunning Road to China Light in the "Carnelian" colourway from The Fibre Company. I'm about to cast on the wrap in a fabulous aubergine shade (#884) of Rowan Lima.A new Truly Myrtle pattern will be out next week! Keep your eyes peeled. It's a crochet-inspired shawl and you'll need one skein of fingering (approx 400m) and 4mm/US6 needles ...I've been pondering the idea of making what we dream of. I discussed finding and enjoying our style in my recent Mini-Mag - it's all related :)The Fantastic theme tune is "Casting On" written and performed by Mr Roberelli.
I'm going back to my roots! Get ready to follow the making of my first "mini-collection" created for a new outfit I've designed.I've got a vision of a woman, comfortable and warm and dressed head to toe in natural fibres, deliciously earthy colours and a glorious combination of texture and gentle lace. She's scattering grain for her chickens and wandering through her vege patch, basket in hand thinking about what to pick for dinner this evening.Join me here on the blog, on my podcast and social media to discover which patterns I'll sew and what knitting patterns I'll design for my new outfit. There'll be a little jewellery too - she needs a new pair of earrings perhaps? My sweater is being designed with the perfect Oatmeal yarn: Heritage NZ Alpaca DK (50% Organic Merino/50% Alpaca) from Skeinz in the "Porcelain" colourway. The wrap will use Rowan Lima (84% Baby Alpaca/8% Merino/8% Nylon) in a glorious Aubergine shade Cusco #884.My slightly slouchy hat uses Road to China Light from the Fibre Company in the "Carnelian" colourway (65% Baby Alpaca, 10% Cashmere/10% Camel/15% Silk). It's nerve-wracking and exciting beginning something big and new! (Fantastic theme song is "Casting On" by Mr Roberelli)
I've been trying and failing spectacularly at new creative challenges recently. I've found learning to throw clay really hard and it's left me feeling wobbly about my creativity. This podcast I'm sharing my thoughts and revelations about trying new things, making mistakes and determination. My recent interview with Rachael Laves reminded me how inspired I am by fearless crafters who give things a go and are prepared to make mistakes and carry on regardless. I'm not sure I'm as brave as I thought but I'm doing my best to carry on anyway.Have you heard of Me Made May? It's a wonderful opportunity to show off what you've made to wear and be inspired by others. Will you join me and Ioana from Moeke Yarns for our May virtual sewing party to celebrate Me Made May? We're inviting you to join us to make a few great basics for your wardrobe. You can find me on instagram here and Ioana and Moeke Yarns here.Find us and the party over on instagram - there are no hard and fast rules - make this work for you! There's a long list of great basic patterns in my recent Mini-Mag and a pinterest board for more inspiration. I wonder what you'll make?Don't you love my podcast picture this time?! I was completely thrilled to receive a copy of this gorgeous drawing from the daughter of one of my listeners - It's me! Josie is 12 - isn't it fantastic! The wonderful soundtrack for my podcast is "Casting On" by Mr Roberelli.
