Step into Episode 221 of On The Delo as Delo sits down with Keifer Gilbert - a tattooed small-town Arizona kid turned elite craft bartender turned sober ultra runner - for one of the most honest, raw, and inspiring conversations the show has delivered. From getting fired from Applebee's reeking of Jäger at 20, to helping launch Counterintuitive cocktail bar, to blacking out nightly while raising a newborn, Keifer's story is a masterclass in rock bottom, reinvention, and what it actually takes to do hard things sober. They cover the Phoenix and Scottsdale hospitality scene in depth - Cashmere, Cowboy Chow, Bitter & Twisted, Counterintuitive - and then pivot into the real story: how sobriety on Christmas Day 2018 led to Keifer trading shots for trail running and ultimately finishing the Cocodona 250, a 256.3-mile race from Black Canyon City to downtown Flagstaff with 37,000 ft of elevation gain in 108 hours. If you've ever struggled to let go of an identity that no longer serves you, or wondered if it's too late to become someone new, this episode will hit different.Chapter Guide (Timestamps):(0:17 - 1:25) Ep 221 Intro: Consistency, Repetition & Being a Little Psychotic(1:26 - 6:23) Getting Started: Flagstaff, Applebee's, Getting Fired, and One Semester at GCU(6:24 - 9:37) Landing at Cashmere & Cowboy Chow - Finding His Footing in Fine Dining(9:38 - 12:36) Counterintuitive: 32 Seats, 12 Hours of Prep, 8 Hours of Service - Craft Cocktails Done Right(12:37 - 17:20) Life at Bitter & Twisted: Long Shifts, Late Nights at Tally Ho, and a Body Falling Apart(17:21 - 19:26) Identity, Blackouts, and the Bar Industry's Dark Side(19:27 - 23:59) Sobriety: Christmas Day 2018, Cooper at 6 Months, and the Decision That Changed Everything(24:00 - 27:30) 8 Years Sober: The Emotional Lightning Rod Phase, the Three-Year Switch, and Life Today(27:31 - 29:01) From Jiu Jitsu to COVID Runs: How Ultra Running Accidentally Took Over(29:02 - 35:00) Cocodona 250: The Race, the Prep, the First Day Disaster, and 30,000 Calories Burned(35:01 - 40:18) What 256 Miles Does to Your Identity - And Cam Haines Cheering From the Trail(40:19 - 44:30) What's Next: Front-End Developer, USCA Certified Ultra Coach, and What Keifer Promotes(44:31 - 46:20) Rapid Fire: Climbs vs. Downhills, Warrant vs. Ratt, Bears on Mingus Mountain & More

On The Scent

Looking for some truly outstanding and very affordable fragrances? Have we got an episode for you! This week, as challenged by you, we went on a scent safari sniffing our way around the new fragrances in one of the U.K's most beloved high street shops. The results? Well, we were rather awe-struck with how wonderful they were, to be honest.Suzy is totally in love with a new perfume shop she popped into for a (free!) half-hour hand and massage the other day; and we've also got some suggestions for a listener desperately missing their favourite (now discontinued) fragrance, and start this week's episode with some lovely feedback about a previous listener prescription…Listener feedback:Anja:‘Hello, after listening to your brilliant podcast episode over the weekend and the scent prescription on marocan scents one perfume came straight into my mind: Andi Tauer's L'air du Desert Marocain. Thanks again for your podcast and hard work, it brings us all joy every week. I blind bought DS&Durga Big Sur Eucalyptus after Suzy described it and it so amazing and exactly whati was looking for (for years!) in a eucalyptus scent. Thanks, Anja'Marks & Spencer fragrances: We asked our Instagram followers to suggest a high street store to find some affordable fragrances in, and share our favourites. The top request by FAR was Marks & Spencer. So, we went to the Oxford Street store, and were SO impressed by the selection, layout, accessibility and thoughtfulness that's gone in to the design - not only of the scents, but the space they're displayed in.Not only was the layout chic and welcoming, the shelves were well-stocked with blotters and testers, making it a truly inviting place to go and explore perfumes (both M&S own-brand ones, and a great curation of other brands).First up, we sniffed the Summer Limited Edition duo (which we'd already promised to test for you a couple of episodes ago):Suzy's favourite:Marshmallow Delight £12 for 100ml eau de parfum ‘Indulge in a scent that feels soft, sweet and irresistibly playful with this Marshmallow Delight eau de toilette from our Discover range. Juicy raspberry brings a bright opening, melting into fluffy marshmallow and smooth cream for a comforting, dessert-like finish.'Nicola's favourite:Solar Fleur £12 for 100ml eau de parfum ‘Capture the warmth of sunlit skin with this radiant eau de toilette from our Discover range. A bright burst of mandarin opens the scent, softened by delicate jasmine and wrapped in the creamy sweetness of coconut milk. The result is a smooth, glowing fragrance that feels effortless and uplifting.'Then we made a beeline for the brand new M&S Studio Fragrance collection - and were both completely blown away! The quality is apparent the second you pick up the bottles: stylishly pared back they feel satisfyingly weighty with good quality lids, and even the labels are slightly recessed - a very luxe touch, all for £22.50 per 100ml eau de perfume. And the SCENTS! Oh my. So many great ones to choose from (shall we do a whole series?) but we chose…Suzy's favourites:M&S Studio Amber Crème‘This Amber Crème eau de parfum is a refined and evocative choice. Sensual amber and rich vanilla combine with notes of rum, patchouli and crème anglaise to create a lavish, indulgent scent.Top note: Brown Sugar Middle note: Tonka Base note: Amber'M&S Studio Ginger Flower ‘Enjoy a fresh and contemporary scent with the Ginger Flower eau de parfum. The heart of the fragrance combines lively ginger with sweet citrus and orange blossom for an uplifting accord. Sensual white musk and blond woods create a warm, grounded finish.Top note: Ginger Middle note: Orange blossom Base note: White musk'Nicola's favourites:Darkest Vanilla‘Enjoy a rich and velvety accord with the Darkest Vanilla eau de parfum. The sensual vanilla heart is complemented by warm amber, luscious tonka bean and dreamy patchouli. Notes of floral orchid and sweet brown sugar ensure a luxurious finish.Top note: Vanilla bean Middle note: Tonka Base note: AmberSheer Musk This Sheer Musk eau de parfum from M&S Studio is a subtly sensual choice. A heart of vegan sublimolide™ musk and ambrette absolute is complemented by floral rose and velvety orris. Cashmere and sandalwood notes create a grounded finish.Top note: Pink pepper Middle note: Cashmere Base note: MuskThey really are knocking it out of the park at M&S - in the beauty area (our fave, obvs) but also in their fashion and accessories. So many reasons to be excited again about going in-store! We must go back to try more perfumes, though, don't you think?Nicola loved her Atelier Rebul mixing masterclass experience, and this is a house we want to tell you much more about (and smell our way through all their creations) in future episodes.Meanwhile….Suzy had the most incredible FREE half hour scented hand & arm massage at Norfolk Natural Living in their Lambs Conduit Street shop. This relaxing, unhurried ritual uses their all-natural products and ends with a bespoke fragrance discovery.Suzy chose to finish with a layered spritz of:Geranium & Tomato Leaf ‘Beyond the glass the garden breathes a little slower. Leaves stir with a soft whisper as the warmth begins to soften at the edges. The scent of crushed tomato vine lingers green and vivid against the rosy sweetness of geranium bloom. Neroli drifts through the shade like a pale ribbon of light while cool earth settles everything into an easy calm.It is the sort of afternoon that asks nothing of you. Sun warming terracotta. Green stems rubbed gently between the fingers. A bright citrus breeze wandering through open windows carrying lime and eucalyptus with it. The garden smells alive and a little unruly in the loveliest way.'(Layered with)Rose Garden‘The afternoon unfolds in layers of scent and light. I sit beneath the cedar tree, reading... The breeze is bright, alive, moving through the garden like thought. It brings the first shimmer of geranium leaf and Sicilian lemon, quick and green, a scent that catches the light like a silver blade. Then, the roses. They lean into the air, full and fresh, their sharp sweetness almost shocking after the citrus. The garden hums with life: petals opening, leaves trembling, sunlight deepening into gold. This rose is no dowager; it's an ingénue with perfect posture. Geranium keeps it clean and quick, jasmine gives it flesh, cedar lends gravity, and amber that quiet, golden hum anchors it all. The air itself seems to thrum, half floral, half mineral, alive with that peculiar English freshness that smells of rain remembered rather than falling.'The fragrances start from £20 for 10ml and every one Suzy smelled was genuinely excellent (though we also need to go bs k here and try many more!)Norfolk Natural Living have stores around the U.K. (as well as selling their products online:You can enjoy the free Norfolk Natural Living hand & arm massage at selected stores (Cambridge, Southwold, Lambs Conduit St London, Woodbridge, Aldeburgh & Holt] by booking online, here:https://tinyurl.com/Norfolk-Natural-Living-MassageListener Prescription:Meira:Hi! I'm reaching out because I've heard you are experts in tracking down lost or discontinued fragrances. I've been on a long quest to find Ananya by The Body Shop (the original 1980s/90s version). It holds so many memories for me, and I've been struggling to find it anywhere. Since it seems to be unavailable to ship to Europe, I was wondering if you could help me find it or, if not, recommend a fragrance that is a very close match in terms of scent profile (tuberose, peach, coconut, and sandalwood).Any guidance or tips you could provide would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for your time and help!Suzy suggests:Chopard Casmir‘Casmir was launched in 1992. The nose behind this fragrance is Michel Almairac. Top notes are Peach, Coconut, Mango, Fruits and Bergamot; middle notes are Geranium, Jasmine, Floral Notes and Lily-of-the-Valley; base notes are Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood, Musk, Patchouli and Woodsy Notes.'Kayali Eden Sweet Peach | 35 ‘Sweet, luscious, and velvety, Eden Sweet Peach | 35 Eau de Parfum is pure happiness in a bottle. On first spritz, sweet-and-tangy peach and crisp red apple create a bright, mouthwatering opening while creamy frangipani adds softness and warmth at the heart of the juice. As the fragrance dries down, comforting musk melts into the skin, leaving a tender yet addictive trail that radiates effortless joy.'(Layered with)Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco | 21‘Take a dip in your daydreams, where the clouds seem within reach and you're blissfully floating in a glittering pool of possibilities. Creamy sandalwood and sweet white florals are topped with milky coconut, then whipped together with vanilla bourbon to evoke that sense of freedom from reality, transporting you to your perfect world, your Utopia.'On The Scent MagazineTo purchase a print issue of the first issue of On The Scent Magazine follow this link to order yours (delivery worldwide):

SVP and Stanford Steve are back to recap all the storylines coming from Wyndham Clark's US Open win at Shinnecock. In his second US Open victory, the jeering and groans were louder than the applause. Why was that? Is it fair? And how the crowd's response to Wyndham's play was so rare and unlike anything SVP has seen. Scottie Scheffler was in the mix for a career slam on his birthday and Father's Day, but several putts barely missed the cup leading to a T4 for the top player in the world. Sam Burns was in the mix once again but came up short, as three crucial putts didn't fall as Burns looked to finish a phenomenal final round. Finally, a word on Cashmere Ketih's historic weekend and viral moment. The NBA Draft is coming up. Is AJ Dybantsa the pick? And a conversation on Dusty May taking the Mavs job and the ripple effects it could have. Additionally, plenty of World Cup thoughts including the seemingly ever-changing nature of country names along with skepticism surrounding viral social media accounts. Recorded across London, Stockholm, and LA with collaborators including Robyn producer Klas Åhlund and PinkPantheress collaborator Oscar Scheller, "Sweat" finds Mel C merging her pop career with her second life as a globally touring DJ and fully embracing the Sporty Spice persona she once kept at arm's length. We go track by track, talk about the Diana Ross and Inner Life samples, the emotional arc from heartbreak to new love, how her DJ career shaped the sound, and whether this belongs in the conversation for best solo Spice Girl album ever.Join us on Patreon!: https://www.patreon.com/CCTVPOPSFollow us on social media: https://linktr.ee/cctvpops0:00 - Intro1:00 - "Sweat" Album Info2:41 - Album Cover4:34 - "Sweat"13:15 - "Drum Machine"20:00 - "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?"24:21 - "Til It Breaks"28:18 - "Pressure"33:34 - "Emotional Memory"37:00 - "Attitude"42:42 - "Good For Nothing"46:25 - "Undefeated Champion"51:04 - "Cashmere"55:35 - "Free To Love"59:30 - "One Track Mind"1:03:40 - "Flick of the Wrist"1:07:45 - Cut or Keep1:09:45 - Overall Thoughts & Final RatingReferences:“Sweat” MV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blY463GJQjw&pp=ygUPbWVsYW5pZSBjIHN3ZWF0 “Sweat” Live at Michael McIntyre's Big Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si3o935rQco&pp=ygUPbWVsYW5pZSBjIHN3ZWF0 “Sweat” Live from The Voice Australia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF_YnsnYZCs&pp=ygUPbWVsYW5pZSBjIHN3ZWF0 “Drum Machine” MV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYuAN7aBZWc&pp=ygUWbWVsYW5pZSBjIGRydW0gbWFjaGluZQ%3D%3D “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” Live at BBC Radio 2 Piano Room https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Azz2NlMyY4&pp=ygUmbWVsYW5pZSBjIHdoYXQgY291bGQgcG9zc2libHkgZ28gd3Jvbmc%3D “Undefeated Champion” Live at Die Giovanni Zarrella Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiOkWhx9cNM&pp=ygUdbWVsYW5pZSBjIHVuZGVmZWF0ZWQgY2hhbXBpb24%3D

We invited Clayts on to help us profile St Andrews Beach, so naturally the episode opens with a discussion about 1970s house prices, closes with a brilliant Clayts monologue about molded grip trainer clubs and namechecks at least 20 Aussie courses along the journey!Early in the life of this pod, we recorded an episode with Clayts where we discussed a bundle of Mornington Peninsula courses. We thought it was best to go back and revisit some of those layouts, devoting individual episodes to several courses. And who better to discuss St Andrews Beach than Clayts? Co-credited with its creation, he was there when the course was being designed and built, and nobody has completed more laps of the course than Mike.In a wide-ranging chat we talk about the early days of the St Andrews Beach project, when it looked like being a 27-hole project with involvement from Ian Baker-Finch, a 36-hole private club with a buy-in of $50k for a 99-year membership, eventually becoming a publicly accessible 18-hole course, which at one point almost 20 years ago was closed for play and faced with a very uncertain future. Our episode addresses Tom Doak's work and his views on one of his best and favourite creations. A great thread on St Andrews Beach on golfclubatlas - https://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,48455.0.html Another great review by Garrett of Fried Egg Golf –https://www.thefriedegg.com/courses/st-andrews-beach-golf-course And Doak discusses St Andrews Beach back in early 2020 with Andy Johnsonhttps://open.spotify.com/episode/6pmUSLrmApr0pLCTkopL2J?si=r_-Y-KWIR0Wv97reAqq2kw Thanks to Clayts for his time and his continued support of our pod. One of Matt's aims for 2026 was realised last week when he finally locked eyes on Cathedral Golf Club. We start the episode with a wide-ranging preliminary chat touching on a range of topics. The cost of public golf in the Hunter Valley, Church pew bunkers at Curlewis, the recent series of Womens Australian events (including the Australian Open and WPGA) and Hannah's triumphs, Sam McClure's articles and Rory's wish to visit New South Wales GC.   We then move onto the course at club at Cathedral and cover all manner of points. Routing, clubhouse, location, turf conditions, and more. Similarities with Ellerston, best holes, the integral role of the dry creek beds through the routing – even the drive to and from. Cathedral is a course that a lucky but small minority of Australian golfers will see, yet all those who are fortunate enough to visit will no doubt enjoy. Did we get it wrong on Cathedral in the 2025 Australian Golf Passport Top 50 Rankings? The Scotchy Bourbon Boys
Wendy Peveich Explains How Archer Eland Makes Rye Taste Luxurious

Send us Fan MailWe sit down with Wendy Peveich, founder and blender behind Archer Eland, to talk about building a rye whiskey brand that flies the Ohio flag and still competes on flavor, proof, and value. We taste through four distinct rye expressions and dig into why rye is so hard to make, so easy to misunderstand, and so rewarding when it's blended with intent. • New Orleans Bourbon Festival reception and what “finger on the pulse” really looks like • Wendy's shift from cardiovascular nurse practitioner to whiskey industry work • Why she chooses rye over bourbon and what makes rye distillation difficult • Archer Eland's 100% rye approach and how malted rye fits the process • Solstice as the 104-proof entry bottle and the Rye-Rita cocktail idea • Aurora as the “problem child” blend and the Northern Lights naming story • Cashmere as a cask strength rye that surprises bourbon drinkers • Suede as a one-off release plus the 9-11 barrel birthday meaning • How warehouse placement and maturation timing shape flavor • Why stainless steel stops maturation and what oxidation can still do • Upcoming limited drops including 14X1B and where releases will land Ohio rye doesn't need permission from Kentucky, and Wendy Peveich is living proof. We're joined by Wendy, the founder and blender behind Archer Eland rye whiskey, fresh off the New Orleans Bourbon Festival, where she put her brand in front of drinkers who swear they “hate rye” and watched the room change sip by sip. She shares how judging spirits, traveling the festival circuit, and learning to read palates helped her refine a whiskey brand built on intention, transparency, and real value at the shelf.  Wendy's story starts in an unexpected place: she spent years as a cardiovascular nurse practitioner, then used whiskey as a creative outlet during the stress of COVID. That curiosity turned into barrel curations, market-building work, and finally a leap into entrepreneurship. We dig into why she chose 100% rye (rye plus malted rye) instead of chasing a crowded bourbon lane, what makes rye so difficult to distill, and why “green” minty notes and spice don't have to be a dealbreaker when blending is done with discipline.  Then we taste the Archer Eland lineup: Solstice as the approachable 104-proof entry point (plus a rye margarita twist), Aurora as a deeper rye-forward pour with Northern Lights inspiration, Cashmere as a cask strength curveball that can fool bourbon drinkers, and Suede as a one-off “happy accident” she refuses to recreate. We also get into warehouse maturation, how rye can swing season to season, why stainless steel stops aging, and what's coming next with limited time offerings and future finished rye innovation.  If you're into rye whiskey, craft distilling, Ohio whiskey, or simply want a smarter way to think about blending and barrel maturation, subscribe, share this with a rye skeptic, and leave us a review. Let Us Know What You Think of the Show!Date: March 11, 2026Name of Podcast: Backstage Pass RadioS10: E5: Denny Somach - Getting the Led Out!SHOW SUMMARY:What if the biggest band in the world won by saying no? Author and hall of fame broadcaster Denny Somach joins us to unpack how Led Zeppelin rewrote the rules—refusing singles, skipping TV, guarding the studio—and still built a global legend on the strength of live shows, mystery, and relentless craft. Drawing on a vast archive, Denny shares the raw voices behind the myth: label chiefs, engineers, publicists, peers, and the band members themselves. We dive into Atlantic Records' unprecedented deal with Zeppelin and why Jimmy Page and Peter Grant's terms created a fortress around the music. Then we head to Headley Grange for a ground-level look at Physical Graffiti, Cashmere's hypnotic power, and the ambient tricks that made John Bonham's drums feel like thunder in a stairwell. Denny opens the vault on rare memorabilia—global picture sleeves that “weren't supposed to exist”—and the touring strategy that transformed college halls into a nationwide campaign. Along the way, we chase the near-mythic: Sabbath and Zeppelin jamming with tape maybe rolling, the XYZ sessions with Page and members of Yes, and a $500 Billy Joel headliner that foreshadowed Allentown.Beyond Zeppelin, Denny explains why classic rock radio lost its catalog and how his show, Rock and Roll for Grown Ups, brings back the songs we loved but stopped hearing—paired with tight interview clips that reveal the stories behind them. It's a conversation about taste, memory, and preservation: what survives, what gets erased, and how to listen with new ears.If you love rock history told by the people who lived it, you'll feel right at home. I've been studying AI audio so that I can complete a couple of personal projects. The first project is an audiobook containing 18 chapters that span 75 fascinating minutes. Your MondayMorningMemo on December 22nd will contain the following invitation:The tribe encircling the campfire is about to listen to a group of old men tell “The Story of the Long Ago.” You can listen, too, if you like. That invitation will be coming your way on December 22nd.The other project that I will be launching in January or February is an ongoing weekly series called “The Great Writer Series.”My goal is simple: I want to reawaken the world to the power of well-told stories. That's it. I have no other agenda. I just want people to remember what great writing sounds like.Today I've got 3 different samples for you. Each is about 2 minutes long. Click the hyperlinks if you want to hear my people read to you. This first one is an obscure poem by Robert Frost called, “The Bearer of Evil Tidings.”I have asked Amir Amani to read it.The bearer of evil tidings,When he was halfway there,Remembered that evil tidingsWere a dangerous thing to bear.So when he came to the partingWhere one road led to the throneAnd one went off to the mountainsAnd into the wild unknown,He took the one to the mountains. He ran through the Vale of Cashmere,He ran through the rhododendronsTill he came to the land of Pamir. And there in a precipice valleyA girl of his age he metTook him home to her bower,Or he might be running yet.She taught him her tribe's religion:How ages and ages sinceA princess en route to ChinaTo marry a Persian princeHad been found with child; and her armyHad come to a troubled halt. And though a god was the fatherAnd nobody else at fault,It had seemed discreet to remain thereAnd neither go on nor back.So they stayed and declared a villageThere in the land of the Yak.And the child that came of the princessEstablished a royal line,And his mandates were given heed toBecause he was born divine. And that was why there were peopleOn one Himalayan shelf; And the bearer of evil tidingsDecided to stay there himself. At least he had this in commonWith the race he chose to adopt:They had both of them had their reasonsFor stopping where they had stopped. As for evil tidings,Belshazzar's overthrow,Why hurry to tell BelshazzarWhat soon enough he would know?Amor Towles will be our second example. He has given us literary wonders like “A Gentleman in Moscow” and “The Lincoln Highway.” This excerpt is from page 302 of his novel, “Table for Two.”Big Bob Bigelow will read it to us.Eve could not pinpoint when her dislike for lists began, but it must have been around the time she was twelve. It was in the basement of St. Mary's, where she and the rest of the sixth graders were charged with memorizing the Ten Commandments.“Thou shalt not this.”
“Thou shalt not that.”
“And thou shalt not the other thing.”Then there was the list painted on the sign at the country club pool to remind the children there would be…“No Running.”
“No Diving.”
“No Splashing.”But most important was her mother's ever-expanding list of what a young lady should not do. Like put her elbows on the table, or speak with her mouth full, or slug her...

"The other side of the free speech coin is listening well." Shaka Mitchell, senior fellow at the American Federation for Children and creator of the Come Together Music Project, believes we've "forgotten how to listen"—and music is his solution. A Nashville-based lawyer and education reform leader, Shaka uses songs to bridge political divides by asking simple questions: What song reminds you of being 21? What song reminds you of your dad? "Every memory has a soundtrack all its own," and when strangers share their musical stories—from Led Zeppelin's eight-minute "Cashmere" to whatever gets you through hard times—something remarkable happens: "we're sort of saying… that person, that's not an enemy, turns out, that's just another human." Shaka argues that free speech and conscience are "inextricably linked" in education, pointing to cases where school districts tried to silence parents who wanted to opt out of lessons that conflicted with their values. He warns that "squelching speech in that way is really dangerous" regardless of whose beliefs are at stake. His advice for finding your voice? "Lead with the pathos and not the logos"—start with your story, practice relentlessly, and use solitude (he's a runner) to workshop ideas. But most importantly, remember that music "forces us to actually sit in silence" for 45 seconds at a time in a world where "if things aren't happening in 12 second increments, we just lose attention." By humanizing one another through shared soundtracks, Shaka believes we can then "have the next conversation about something that's maybe a little more heavy, a little more fraught." Because education is nothing if not speech—and speech requires someone willing to truly listen.Find out more about Shaka's work with the Come Together Music Project at: https://www.cometogetherpodcast.com/

Cotton, Cameos, and Cashmere: The Accessories of Revolutionary Style. The Graces made cotton, previously worn by lower classes, the most fashionable and revolutionary fabric, often importing high-quality white muslin from India. Painters like David were fascinated by how the thin fabric revealed women's bodies, making the women appear artful and allowing them to move freely. When big skirts disappeared, the need to carry belongings led to the invention of the handbag as we know it, which instantly became the "it accessory." Other vital accessories included flat laced shoes and cashmere shawls. The long, rectangular cashmere shawls, first sent by Napoleon from Cairo to Josephine, were draped seductively around the slim dresses, becoming highly desirable for decades. Josephine (Rose) also invented the tiara by adapting Italian cameos to headbands. Juliet's rigorous all-white look became a powerful rallying symbol for the purity of revolutionary principles. 1805 Josephine

We kick things off with Gary's raw journey of getting sober and finding God, reflecting on the dangerous path of living fast and how faith and clarity helped him break free. Then we dig into the deep corruption and financial crimes plaguing Puerto Rico, from shady dealings to high-level coverups, including the latest chaos around Trump firing members of the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB). We also explore FEMA's controversial role and the devastation of the Texas floods, connecting the dots between disaster, mismanagement, and hidden agendas. It is an unfiltered ride through personal transformation, political intrigue, and the truth they don't want you to hear. On this gripping episode, we're joined by Heidi Luv from The Unfiltered Rise Podcast to unravel the secretive power structure known as the Mormon Mafia—a hidden network with deep ties to Howard Hughes, whose most trusted aide, Mormon elite William Gay, quietly ran Hughes' empire for over five decades. We dive into how the Mormon influence still echoes today in pop culture and power circles, from Las Vegas' mobbed-up founding to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Plus, we explore the mystifying “Mormon will,” the 34-year battle over Hughes' estate, and the shocking bloodline claims linking Joseph Smith to Jesus himself. Could ancient Templar traditions, Viking settlements in Canada, and the Mi'kmaq people all be part of this tangled, divine-right narrative? Tune in for a deep dive into faith, power, and the families that refuse to let go of it. Loving it!   Knitting in Passing   On a July 3 MBTA ferry commute, I sat with a crocheter. We talked about our projects and fav LYSs. I showed her how simple magic loop knitting is. Laura brought socks to her client David when she got back to NY. He sent me a photo asking if they were Cashmere because they were so soft and noting how great they looked with the pants he had on. Then I got a pic of his foot under his desk at work the next day. (Ravelry Project Page) On July 7, a man chatted with me on the Red Line about memories of his mother, sisters and daughters crocheting. Emelyn has been wanting to crochet again but is feeling rusty. On July 4th I reminded them how to single & half-double crochet. Last weekend, they started a star project so we worked with DC and how to work corners and getting used to reading a pattern.   In My Travels Splash Pad Party Registration is open View Stats and/or Verify Registration here.
