Monday is once again upon us, but that doesn't mean you have to dread the beginning of another work week. Why? Because the latest podcast From The Basement is here to pleasure your ear holes! While there's no feature review or interview this week -- and there's nothing wrong with that -- Jason and Shawn have put a plethora of flicks and TV shows on the chopping block to make your viewing choices easier. In doing so, one of the Dynamic Duo might express a bit of a man crush on action star Gerard Butler. Which one could this be? Stick with us! Nothing wrong with a man crush by the way. Perfectly healthy. What else will you learn this episode? Is Netflix's acclaimed horror flick His House worthy of the accolades? Do polish filmmakers craft fine backwoods slasher films? Is the first Nazi/vampire/ghost ship movie a genre-defining watch? You will hear the answers to these question, catch the entertainment rundown for the week ahead, and have Jason and Shawn's favourite Friday the 13th films revealed by pushing play on the player below.
This week, I’m joined by 2020 thru-hiker Bobby Sanders, aka Lefty. I often refer to Lefty as the socialite of the AT, as so many hikers this year have a story of a memorable moment shared with him. In 1999, he suffered an electrical accident that resulted in the loss of his right arm, two fingers on his left hand, and damaged his left leg. The doctors were unsure if he would walk again. He has since run four marathons and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. Join us today for a conversation about the importance of family, perseverance through injury, seeking faith on the AT, and so much more. If you have been listening to the podcast for any part of the past 7 years, you understand that you are going to hear different perspectives on design and architecture. I believe that there is truly a language of architecture, and that design is about storytelling. I do this podcast because I love discovering new designers myself and thoroughly enjoy introducing them to you. If you are in the biz, it gives you a chance to meet someone whose work might influence or inspire you. If you are an enthusiast, it makes you dream of what’s possible. Joseph Dangaran and Brett Woods are currently producing future classics in modern design. Full stop. The work they are doing makes use of materials, space, the landscape, and a sense of theater. You look at their work and you can see a nod to Schindler or Neutra, but not a byproduct. Their work is unique, it’s great, and these are two architects making it, this is Woods and Dangaran.Thank you, Brett and Joseph, I enjoyed our time together. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next. Thank you for listening, downloading, and subscribing to the show. Join in the conversation @ConvoXDesign with an “X” and while your there, check out our amazing partner @WalkerZanger. You can also find everything you need at Convo By Design dot com. On today’s “Season 1 ITPNT Finale” we have Youa Vang, a talented writer, craft-maker, manager and more! Much like her, our conversation covers a lot of ground, including the dangers of perfectionism, Craft Shows, Online shopping and more. The centerpiece of the episode was originally going to be us talking about underrated Simpsons episode, but wound up being a far-reaching discussion on diversity and inclusivity, the #MeToo Movement and mental health. It’s maybe the proudest I’ve been of an episode of this show, covering ground I never thought we would (but I always wanted to). And we do get to “The Simpsons” discussion eventually and have a fun time with it. Huge apologies for last week, but we realized entirely too late that our show recording would in fact fall on Halloween and we would be down to like two people. As a result we took the week off and now return with one of those shows that just has a random assemblage of topics. We talk a little bit about N7 Day actually having announcements and the impending re-release of the Mass Effect Trilogy that is likely to disappoint. We talk about the Star Wars Christmas special and the plans to make a brand new version which will as a result immediately become the best version. We talk a very brief bit about the Mandalorian in a relatively spoiler free manner. Bel talks a bit about the new guidance from Blizzard making key broadcasting software a bannable offense and putting an end to a specific kind of multi-boxing. Tam talks about Knights and Bikes as it is this mashup of Night in the Woods and Castle Crashers. We talk about the early days of the internet and Hypnospace Outlaw that attempts to revisit a twisted version of that. From there we end up on this side topic about GameFaqs and the early days of printing off long form Ascii guides. We wrap up with some talk about Disco Elysium and playing Mario Kart when there are skill gaps. Topics Discussed Happy N7 Day Mass Effect Trilogy re-release Star Wars Christmas Special The Mandalorian Season Two Blizzard Bans Key Broadcasting Software Partial End of Multi-Boxing Knights and Bikes Hypnospace Outlaw Early Internet and GameFaqs Disco Elysium Mario Kart Multiplayer with Skill Gaps

If there's ever been a week you've wished you could hit a giant red button and release a bunch of monsters to wreak havoc here on earth, it was probably this one. Good thing we covered 2012's horror movie Cabin in the Woods, starring Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly, Jesse Williams, and Fran Kranz, this week.
“We are presented an awful lot of the time that there’s one experience of the world that counts and all the others are lesser and trivial.
