Human intervention cannot stop God's word
Human intervention cannot stop God's word
Continuing in Acts we see how other believers and nonbelievers looked at the church after God's discipline of Ananias and Sapphira.
Pastor Ethan continues our series in the book of Acts with a special Easter Sunday message on the echoes of the resurrection of Jesus.
When the church has opportunities, we should expect opposition. This was the case for the very first church. But the apostles were bold in their proclamation of the gospel. The first believers courageously declared the gospel despite being jailed, beatings, and the jealousy of the Pharisees. They rejoiced that they were counted worthy of being treated shamefully on behalf of the name of Jesus.

We must be persistent with the gospel among our neighbors. We must be persistent in taking advantage of divine opportunities. We must be persistent in the face of opposition. We can be persistent because the gospel cannot be stopped.

As we continue our study through Acts, the frustration within the religious elite is starting to show. During this next trial, after arresting all the apostles this time, they accuse them of spreading their message throughout all Jerusalem, and obviously they have been unable to stop it due to the power of the Holy Spirit and the boldness provided by God to this growing band of followers! Signs and wonders follow the teaching, as well as God's divine intervention in their prison stay, releasing them in the night by an angel. It is Gamaliel who through his wise words advises the council to leave them alone, lest they potentially end up fighting against God, which he knows would be a losing proposition!

Pastor Ken preaches from Acts chapter 5 verses 12 through 42, a two title message: Problems Amidst the Preaching & Proclaiming Jesus through Persecution.
READ Acts 5:12-42 THINK 1. As you think about this message, think “how does God want my beliefs and or actions to change? What is one thing I can do to bring about this change? 2. Think about a time you joined a cause or a movement. Why did you join it? Is the cause still going? Are you still part of it? Why or why not? 3. The Apostle’s met in the Temple, however people did not join them. Why? What were they afraid of? 4. Why did the people respect the Apostle’s and early believers even though they didn’t join them? 5. Have you ever respected a group or a cause yet didn’t join them? Why? Was it because of fear? If so, what were you afraid of? 6. Why did the religious leaders want to stop the Apostle’s from preaching the Gospel? 7. Who convinced the religious leaders to let the Apostle’s go free? Why is this significant? 8. Has there ever been a time when you thought the church is dead. Christianity is dying? Why did you think this? Do you still believe this? Why? 9. Why can’t the Gospel be stopped? What does this mean for the Christians and the Church? What does this mean for you? PRAY Jesus- Your Gospel can’t be stopped, because you can’t be stopped. It is alive and well because you are alive. Thank you for this hope. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this movement. To be a part of your church that will never die. In your name I pray. Amen. LIVE What is one way and one person you can share the Gospel to this week? Who and where is God calling you to serve? Go and do it!

Often in this world, to make progress and to do the good God has given us to do requires strength and courage in the face of adversity. Jesus and the apostles show us how to bear responsibility to accomplish God’s goals without giving into the fear of man.

God moved in such powerful ways in the lives of the Apostles that the religious leaders became very jealous when they saw the miracles being performed and the crowds of people responding to the gospel and this lead these leaders to do evil to try to stop the move of the Holy Spirit.
