Shannon Szabados joined the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, as our feature guest brought to you by Sense Arena to talk about her new children's book, Every Bunny Loves to Play, being a new mom and an incredible puck-stopping career that already includes two Olympic gold medals and one silver. Szabados, who has broken barriers playing against men in junior, college, and professionally, talks about her inspiration for the new book, an incredible career path in the crease and how — and when — it might continue. Szabados shares stories from her career, including the most nervous she's ever been before a game, how she overcame being "painfully shy" after winning her first Olympic gold medal, and how influences like Bill Ranford and Dustin Schwartz shaped her playing style at very different points in her career.Szabados is always a delight to talk to, and one of the greats of the game, so we were tempted to save this engaging and informative 45-minute interview to celebrate Episode 100 of InGoal Radio. But that would be doing a disservice to our listeners because that milestone episode drops on New Year's Eve and by sharing now there is still time to get a copy of her new book, which has received rave reviews, delivered in time for Christmas! Be sure to check out Szabados' book about a bunny who just wants to play sports but has to deal with criticism from others through Amazon.Plus Woody drops by The Hockey Shop to talk about their stick sale and some incredible sub $100 deals you just might be able to grab in time for Christmas.

Shannon Szabados says she wants to have fun and play hockey, not engage in a war of words through the media with her former coach. After the Canadian goalie was released Monday by the Peoria Rivermen, just two games into the Southern Professional Hockey League season, head coach Jean-Guy Trudel told CBC Sports that he only signed the 30-year-old as a "package deal" in order to get defenceman Carl Nielsen, a friend of Szabados, and that their relationship was "cancerous" within the dressing room. Are “office” relationships ever a good thing? A Sedgewick, Alta. man says he's thrilled that he will be getting the $67,692.50 jackpot from a 50/50 raffle at a recent Edmonton Oilers hockey game. "It's very exciting and yeah it's amazing," said Clayton Hinkey on Thursday. He reiterated his plan to give $30,000 of his winnings to three different charities. The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation announced earlier in the day that it will award the full prize to Hinkey even though he missed the deadline to claim the prize. The mayor of Trent Hills is back on Canadian soil, free of the cancerous tumour in his pancreas that Ontario wouldn't help him with and ready to give them Hec. "There was an attempted murder on me but I survived thanks to the medical professionals in Germany," Hector Macmillan said as he landed Thursday from Germany. "I am alive and well and ready to fight some more. They saw what I could do sick. Now they will see what I can do healthy." Bad news for Premier Kathleen Wynne and Health Minister Eric Hoskins. Good news for people in need of modern cancer surgery.
