Morgan Frost and Sean Couturier gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead in the first period and Emil Andrae netted the first goal of his career before the 30-second mark of the 2nd to put Philadelphia up 3-0 on the Pacific-leading Golden Knights. But Vegas made the game 3-2 before Matvei Michkov restored the 2 goal lead, but before the 2nd expired Vegas was once again within a goal, trailing 4-3.Vegas tied it in the 3rd, and despite a ton of late chances for the Orange & Black in the 3rd and throughout OT, Jack Eichel and Ilya Samsonov were too much to overcome in the shootout.Charlie, Bill & JP break down the loss and the efforts of Michkov, Frost, Farabee & Fedotov.

Jason and Frank are back with another fresh episode of The DFO Rundown. The guys kicked off today's show with some drama in Long Island. The Islanders are seemingly having some issues between Head Coach, Patrick Roy, and GM, Lou Lamoriello. They then jump right into the Maple Leafs extension of Jake McCabe. (5 Years - $4.51M)Tonight is a big night for Steven Stamkos, heading back to Tampa for the first time since being traded. Will this trade end up being a smart move? We suspect a warm welcome for Stamkos tonight. The guys then dive deeper into the Atlantic division to discuss the rough start to the season for both Boston and Buffalo. Should NHL teams have a 3rd professional goalie on the roster that travels with the team and fills in when necessary in emergency situations? Tyler Yaremchuk is on a much deserved vacation to Seattle to watch his Bills play the Seahawks so Producer Patrick Puff fills in for today's episode of Buy or Sell brought to you by bet365.You could argue the Golden Knights currently have one of the best lines in the NHL, what could Jack Eichel's next contract look like?Did the Buffalo Sabres make the right call moving on from Jack Eichel? Frank and Jason are back with a fresh edition of the DFO Rundown as the first weekend of the regular season is behind us. Now that every team has taken to the ice a handful of times, some fascinating storylines have emerged. They began the show by talking about the Pittsburgh Penguins first few games and the goalie controversy that could be brewing there. Head Coach Mike Sullivan had some interesting comments on the decision to play Joel Blomqvist over Tristan Jarry. That conversation eventually led them to the Colorado Avalanche, who also have some issues with their goaltending and from there, it turned into a bigger conversation about the state of the goaltending market. Frank had some thoughts about the Sergei Bobrovsky deal and they also talked about the Joey Daccord contract. They also talked about a couple of teams that are off to sluggish starts in the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers. Is there a reason to be concerned in either market?Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell, presented by Bet365. He asked the guys about Dylan Guenther's red-hot start, the Oilers' struggles, the Habs' strong start, and whether or not Jack Eichel can be a 100-point player.3:15 - The state of the Penguins7:40 - Georgiev and the Avs11:30 - The goaltending market24:00 - Utah starts hot28:15 - Predators & Oilers stumble35:30 - The Habs offense40:00 - Buy or Sell57:20 - Week 2 storylinesWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? It's another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative as Patrick Moran responds to several questions and takes from audience, including shade deservedly thrown at the Buffalo Sabres organization as yet more key players on past teams that couldn't win with Buffalo go on to play key roles in helping another team win a Stanley Cup. Like it or not, the Sabres are among the worst organizations in all of major pro sports. Their record on the ice and decisions off the ice support the statement, which only strengthened on Monday night when the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup in game-seven, which of course saw Sam Reinhart score the series-winning goal. With that ,Reinhart joins Jack Eichel and Ryan O'Reilly are former core players that have went on to taste the pinnacle of hockey success----after leaving Buffalo, not to mention Kyle Okposo. Patrick has plenty to say about that and the now likely buyout of overpriced forward Jeff Skinner in the coming days. Another commenter takes the Sabres woes a step further, saying that they've been horribly run for literally most of their existence. Clearly being tied for the longest playoff drought in sports and seeing a slew of former Sabres go on to have success after leaving has fans at arguably their most frustrated. There's also submissions centered around the Buffalo Bills, including David Edwards seemingly being handed the starting left guard job and some concerns at safety. That plus a comment about this week's all-time sports media draft, Sara Holland's appearance on the show last week and much more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatMoranTweets. Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
The away team has won every game so far in the opening round series between Dallas and Las Vegas. The Stars were two 0-2 in the series before winning both games at the Fortress. Dallas was the best road team in the NHL this season and they played like it over the past six periods. Jack Eichel scored his third goal of the series and Michael Amadio, who drew in for an ineffective Anthony Mantha scored his first postseason goal. Each VGK goals coming on rebounds. The Stars scored on the power play as Wyatt Johnston scored his third goal of the series. Two odd angle shots really did in VGK. The Stars scored twice on shots from the goal line. We feel Dallas has been the better team so far in the series. Chris pointed out that Dallas has had a 68-36 advantage in high danger shots the past two games. We also discuss how VGK can regain momentum in the series.
Ahead of game four between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights, Joey of Locked On Stars previews tonight's game including updates on Mason Marchment and Radek Faksa, how the Stars can replicate success they found in game three, and the response of Vegas on home ice.
Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
The Dallas Stars got back into the series with an OT victory at the Fortress last night, 3-2. VGK got off to a slow start and didn't recover. Dallas cuts the series lead to 2-1 with Game 4 Monday at T-Mobile Arena. If not for Logan Thompson's heroics, with 43 saves, the Golden Knights could have been embarrassed on home ice. Dallas led 2-0 but goals by Brayden McNabb and Jack Eichel, on a shorthanded goal, forced overtime. Wyatt Johnston scored twice for the Stars, who owned the best road record in the regular season. We credit Pete DeBoer for making adjustments and forcing VGK to the perimeter for most of the game. And we discuss the concern level heading into Game 4 on Monday night.

The Golden Knights are returning home with a 2-0 series advantage after playing stifling defense in Wednesday's 3-1 road win over the Dallas Stars. The series shifts to Las Vegas Saturday for Game 3. VGK withstood an early push by Dallas and trained 1-0 on a Stars power play goal by Jason Robertson. But Jonathan Marchessault tallied the equalizer in the first to tie the score at 1-1. Noah Hanifin scored the game winner in the slot. And, Jack Eichel added the finishing touch with an empty net goal. The VGK defense held Dallas without a shot for about the final six minutes of the game. It was another heavy game with 108 total hits, 55 for VGK. Keegan Kolesar had nine hits in the contest. We talk about VGK playing close to a 60-minute game and are they peaking at the right time? We also grade Logan Thompson's performance and Zach Whitecloud with another rough outing for VGK.

The Golden Knights will be facing off against the Dallas Stars in the opening round of the playoffs beginning Monday night on the road. VGK limped into the playoffs and comes in as the eight seed. The Golden Knights lost in a lackluster game to the Anaheim Ducks Thursday, 4-1. Jack Eichel scored the only goal for VGK. The Golden Knights have now lost three straight to the cellar-dwelling Ducks. The Ducks Frankie Vatrano scored a hat trick in the game. We have a first look at the VGK-Stars series. And, it's that time of week - it's What The Friday?!?

The Golden Knights blew their second two-goal lead in as many games, as the dropped a 4-3 decision to the Canucks in Vancouver Tuesday night. It was the first win ever for Vancouver over VGK at the Roger Center. It also assured the Canucks of home ice in the first round of the playoffs. Jack Eichel scored twice on the Golden Knight's first two shots of the game, but VGK allowed Vancouver to respond. Noah Hanifin had the other VGK goal. The Golden Knights scored two power play goals, but they also allowed two on the man advantage to Vancouver. Arturs Silovs (3-0) outbattled Logan Thompson. The Golden Knights were outmuscled in the blue paint. On the upside, VGK did not allow any third period goals - so that's a step in the right direction. Last night was Tomas Hertl's first game as a Golden Knight. He had an assist and played a lot of minutes on special teams. Hertl also won 67% of his faceoff battles. To get Hertl into the lineup, VGK put Will Carrier on LTIR and send Brendon Brisson to the minors. We should see Adin Hill's return to the lineup Wednesday. He has been out since March 23rd. Logan Thompson hit a rough patch the last two games, and VGK should welcome Hill back in Edmonton Wednesday night.

Bruce Cassidy is telling the Golden Knights to "handle business" against the Arizona Coyotes in Tempe tonight. The Coyotes could still be a dangerous team even though their season is basically over as they are 20 points out of a playoff spot. Arizona has a winning record (20-19) at Mullett Arena on the ASU campus. Cassidy said we will not see Tomas Hertl tonight in his debut. Many believe it could be due to cap restrictions even though Hertl is said to be medically cleared. Nic Roy was injured on the Vqncouver game and will miss the short trip. Brendan Brisson was activated for tonight's game. The Coyotes were sellers at the trade deadline, so they are going with the youth movement to wind up the season. We talk about Jack Eichel blowing tires and we have our WTF comments from viewers and listeners.
Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
One of the trademarks of the Golden Knights since inception has been its ability to respond after an opponent scores a goal. In Tuesday's win over the first-place Vancouver Canucks, the Golden Knights had two quick responses everytime the Canucks rallied to get back in the game. After a Nils Hoglander goal cut the Vancouver deficit to 2-1, Jack Eichel tallied his 27th goal some 20-second later. Then Brett Howden put the game away for good. Quinn Hughes scored to rally the Canucks to down two goals again in the third period. Brett Howden countered to make it a 6-3 VGK advantage. We talk about the return of Tomas Hertl and where he will fit in. And, we look at the Pacific Division and Western Conference race as VGK continues its heater.
The Minnesota Wild failed to pick up either point against Vegas as the Golden Knights scored with the net empty in overtime as John Hynes pulled Filip Gustavsson in favor of the extra attacker. he Wild led 1-0 with 6 minutes to play on Kirill Kaprizov's 37th goal of the season off of a 5 minute Power Play after Jack Eichel received a Game Misconduct penalty for spearing Kaprizov. But the Golden Knights scored to tie the score at one and send the game to Overtime. Jonathan Marchessault scored in OT for the Win. Filip Gustavsson stopped 29 of 30 shots in net. The Ottawa Senators are in town to face the Sabres and Sneaky Joe sees a lot of similarities between the Sens, and the Jack Eichel-led Sabres teams when it comes to roster build, coaching, GMs, etc. Are the Senators doomed to lose their top star too in Brady Tkachuk?Plus, Jack Quinn returns to the lineup!
