Episode 366 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features an information-packed interview with PWHL, OHL, and Hockey Canada goalie coach Brad Fogal. In the feature interview, presented by NHL Sense Arena, Fogal, who also runs the Goalie Training Institute in Ontario, walks us through his unique path to NCAA and minor pro hockey before becoming a full-time coach, and how it informs his work now on the other side of the whistle. We caught up with Fogal while he was working with Team Canada's under-18 women's team, but he also works with PWHL Toronto and has been in the OHL with Owen Sound, and he shared advice on the importance of building a foundation -- and what that looks like at different ages -- consistent terminology, the biomechanics of good movement, adding game realism and decision-making to drills, working with multiple goalies and so much more.In the Parent Playbook, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, Hutch welcomes you to the Goalie (Parent) Union with his top-10 tips (actually top-11, with a bonus) for new goalie parents going into their first season. We also review the latest Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, featuring Eric Comrie with a great breakdown of a late-game 6-on-5 and how to manage movement patterns and read releases even when you get a little behind a play, with a hat tip to Connor Hellebuyck for some of the advice he shares. And in our weekly gear segment we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a look at the Vaughn Ion Pro pads and gloves, which, counter to the name, is actually a second price-point line that still comes with plenty of top-end features.
Dotun and Tim are joined by Maher Mezahi to wrestle with the central problem of the beautiful game: does a striker succeed or a goalie fail when the ball hits the back of the net? The Adidas Azteca that Maradona famously “helped” past Peter Shilton in 1986 went under the hammer at the weekend – but what would listeners do with the ball touched by “the hand of God”?
Episode 365 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a great interview with NCAA champion and Frozen Four MVP Johnny Hicks. In the feature interview, presented by NHL Sense Arena, Hicks walks us through the preparation and process that allowed him to mostly sit for half a season, then come off the bench and go 16-0-1 and set an NCAA record with a .957 save percentage before backstopping the University of Denver to a National Championship with a .955 save percentage in the playoffs. It's a great story made all the more remarkable by his unique path, from a winless first season in the BCHL, to a powerhouse team in the AJHL — and the unique lessons from both stops — then the WHL for one year before going to school. Add in an invite to the Edmonton Oilers development camp this summer for the undrafted Hicks and it really is a can't miss interview. In the Parent Playbook, presented by Stop it Goaltending U the App, Hutch talks about preparing for the fast approaching season and why chasing late extra reps before tryouts and training camps can often do more harm than good, both between the pipes and between the ears.We also review the latest Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, featuring Dustin Wolf with a quick but important breakdown on when to use RVH and when to hold your feet on passes from below the goal line, something that's been a theme in a lot of recent Pro Reads. And in our weekly gear segment we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a look at the new Bauer Supreme F50 Pro, a second-price point stick loaded with top-level options, including one never before offered by Bauer at anything other than the highest prices.

Today we bring you an episode from our friends at the Apostrophe Podcast Network – one of the most-loved shows from the podcast ‘We Regret to Inform You.'If you're new to the pod, it's a series that tells the inspiring stories of actors, athletes and even astronauts, who overcame major rejection on their journeys to the stars. This episode, however, is a little different. It's about an object. Specifically, the goalie mask. Before goalie masks were widely accepted, one hall of fame goalie endured over 400 stitches to the head and neck over the course of his career. Some of the early objections to goalie masks included:“Masks make goalies complacent.”“Masks eliminate fear in goalies – the fear that drives them to play well.”“A real man wouldn't hide his face from his opponents.” We hope you enjoy "Rejecting the Goalie Mask." It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the non-Oilers the boys loved on teams they hated, the Elks' hot run, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about other NHL teams and specifically if there were any players on those teams that the boys loved even if they hated the team they played for. Whether it was Miikka Kiprusoff in Calgary or Corey Perry in Anaheim or Rick Nash on those terrible Columbus teams, there were a bunch of players the boys spoke about despite not necessarily liking their team. That also led to a discussion about players they currently despise for their success against the team.Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a conversation about Prime Video taking over Wednesday night hockey and three playoff series for the next 12 years. Given that hockey fans will need to add another subscription to watch games this year, the boys discussed whether or not the NHL is doing anything properly when it comes to growing the game. They also discussed Connor McDavid's comments on the Oilers' three-goalie setup, and whether or not anyone believes that this can last for more than a month or two. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' hot run in the CFL, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.

Dustin Nielson and Joaquin Gage are back in the studio with plenty of meat on the bone. Today, they are transitioning from the chaotic offseason rumour mill straight into concrete dates, planning their road trips, and diving deep into a generational hockey nostalgia trip. On Today's Show: The 84-Game Era Returns: The NHL has officially unleashed its massive 1,344-game regular-season schedule! With the league officially re-expanding to an 84-game slate and starting a bit earlier on September 29th, Dusty and Gager spend a massive chunk of the show circling key dates on the calendar. From the opening night showdown at Rogers Place against Manny Malhotra's Canucks to the brutal mid-winter road trips, the holiday home-stands, and the final stretch to the playoffs—the boys break down the strength of schedule and map out the Oilers' blueprint to the postseason. The Ultimate Oilers "What-If" Matrix: Grab a box of tissues or prepare to get your blood boiling. The boys are opening up the ultimate sliding-doors cabinet in Edmonton franchise history. They debate the massive, course-altering questions that still haunt the City of Champions: What if Chris Pronger never demanded a trade out of town, keeping the championship window open? What if Peter Pocklington's wallet was fat enough to keep Wayne Gretzky, or keep the 1990 dynasty core together before they got stripped for parts? What if the Oilers actually drafted local Alberta phenom Shane Doan (or Jarome Iginla) at the 1995 draft instead of Steve Kelly? What if the Ducks landed Sidney Crosby in the 2005 draft? 2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!

Dustin Nielson and the resident brick wall, Joaquin Gage, finally share the desk again after a minute apart. The chemistry is flying, the dynamic is firing, and the fellas have an absolute mountain of hockey culture, gaming nostalgia, and tactical Oilers blueprints to tear through. On Today's Show: The Face of Next-Gen Hockey: EA Sports just dropped a massive bomb on the gaming landscape, officially naming San Jose Sharks superstar phenom Macklin Celebrini as the cover athlete for NHL 27! At just 20 years old, he becomes the youngest cover star in the video game's legendary history. Dusty and Gager debate the pick: Is Celebrini the most exciting cover athlete we've seen in a hot minute? The Ultimate EA Nostalgia Trip: The Celebrini news opens up the historical vault. The boys look back at the most iconic, legendary cover athletes to ever grace the franchise—from Owen Nolan's called shot in NHL 2001 to Peter Forsberg on NHL 98. Who takes the crown for the greatest game cover of all time? Plus, the fellas check in on Benny, who is currently on an absolute, ungodly, legendary all-time heater in Chel. The Ultimate Oilers Energy Line Matrix: Shifting back to real life on the ice, Dusty poses a major depth-chart puzzle for Gager. With a heavily fortified roster heading into camp, what is the optimal layout for the Oilers' energy lines this season? The boys map out the combination of speed, physical heavy-lifting, and bottom-six grit needed to carry this team through a long Pacific Division grind. The Trivia Crease: To close things out, Dusty puts Gager right back in the hot seat with a brand-new, hilariously challenging game of Who's That Goalie? Can the former NHL netminder identify these obscure, forgotten crease-dwellers from the 90s and 2000s based on deep-cut career clues, or is he getting completely pulled from the net? 2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!
