This series focuses on Harold Begbie's book Life Changers. Published in 1922 it describes key elements in Frank Buchman's program of radical change from which AA drew so many of its principles and practices. Studying the source material for the 12-Steps can give us insights into the transformational process the Group was trying to achieve both in individuals and in nations. They can prove invaluable to anyone whose recovery has lost its “zing” or to individuals unable to recover because of a “watered down” recovery approach. Fr. Bill focuses on chapters 3 through 9 of Life Changers drawing broadly from the stories of some who attended the 1922 house party and the elements that helped bring about their change. Over thirty years ago an AA archivist gave me a book that changed my life. It's one of the best descriptions of the Oxford Group program out of which AA would later blossom and grow. Published in 1933 and titled WHAT IS THE OXFORD GROUP? the anonymous author lays out many of the principles and practices that Bill Wilson drew from in writing the Big Book. If you're ready for a life-changing shift to your program, this series may be for you. The book is available free through a link in the show notes. This episode explores the concept of GUIDANCE as it was understood and practiced by the AA pioneers. An understanding of Guidance has largely been lost from modern-day 12-Step fellowships. This episode tries to instill in listeners the power of living a God-guided life. It is a mystery that obsesses our time.Jeffrey Epstein, one of the richest and most well-connected men in America, walked into prison. He was friends and a business associate of some of the most powerful people in the world - Presidents, Prime Ministers, Princes, politicians, business tycoons - the very top of the 1%er class. He also ran a sexual trafficking network of young girls and women.Just over a month later, he was found dead in his cell. The official response? Immediately declare it suicide. Many people around the world, did not believe it. So in the last four-and-a-half years, while there has been a great deal of rumour, speculation, theorizing and fantasy - there has been a distinct lack of proper investigation. I an Investigation Program students of one of the finest academic institutions for the study of crime - the University of New Haven - have been examining the case. We have read thousands of pages of documents and interviewed people with real, first-hand knowledge about the case. This is the story of Jeffrey Epstein's death. This episode is an interview with one of the lawyers who met him just days before he died. And like most people close to Jeffrey Epstein - he does not think he committed suicide. He thinks it was murder. Please rate, review or like this episode: would be hugely appreciated by Declan and the whole team of students. www.crimewavespodcast.comwww.declanhill.comTwitter: declan_hill

For nearly two years after Donald Trump left the White House, no federal or state prosecutors charged him with any crimes. But in November 2022, just days after Trump announced he was running for president again, the Biden Justice Department named a special counsel to investigate the former president. Now, in the span of just a few months, Special Counsel Jack Smith has announced numerous criminal indictments against Trump in both Florida and Washington, D.C. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg did the same and so did Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis. And now judges are setting trial dates that clearly conflict with the presidential primary schedule. This is unprecedented. It's unconstitutional. And it's un-American. That's the conclusion of renowned defense attorney David Schoen. The man who led the legal defense for Trump's second impeachment explains the deep flaws with all of these accusations, the threat they pose to equal justice in this country, and what Trump's defense team ought to be doing about it.Please visit our great sponsors:Allegiance Goldhttps://protectwithsara.comClick or Call 877-702-7272 to tell them Sara sent you and get $5,000 of free silver on a qualifying purchase. The Justice Dept. in the Bannon case broke a six decade old policy of not using criminal complaint statutes when executive privilege was invoked. David Schoen believes Congress and the White House pressured DOJ to prosecute Bannon criminally. Presidents also aren't allowed to corrupt the judicial system, which is what Biden did when he said those who defy subpoenas should be prosecuted. Schoen says there are no checks and balances on the Biden Administration and they reject Constitutional principles. Every American had better hope Bannon wins on appeal otherwise it means every innocent citizen can be ensnared and punished. Bannon's attorneys subpoenaed every J6 Committee member and they all invoked executive privilege and denied Bannon the same privilege. GUEST: DAVID SCHOEN, BANNON'S DEFENSE ATTORNEY

Wednesday on Political Rewind: While the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump continues, leaders in Georgia attempt to respond to the ongoing pandemic and its resulting economic burden. In DeKalb County, local leaders announce plans to protect renters and landlords hit hard by the pandemic. They seek to use a $21 million federal grant to secure housing for thousands of residents at risk of eviction in the middle of a winter rife with illness and economic uncertainty. Michael Thurmond, DeKalb County CEO, joins our panel to discuss the latest. Leaders across the state are also grappling with the vaccine rollout. Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control shows distribution hindered by social inequity and limited supply. Meanwhile in the state Capitol, Republican legislators released a list of recommendations they say are designed to assure future elections will be free of fraud. Among the changes, ending automatic registration and removing voting software from Dominion Voting Systems. The proposal also includes a call to take oversight of elections away from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. "This is the theme we have seen in the legislature and in Georgia politics since the early 2000s," Jim Galloway said on the show. "There is a portion of the Republican Party that think voting is so important that you ought to have the energy to meet a certain amount of obstacles to cast the ballot." Democrats plan to fight the recommended changes, which they insist are efforts at voter suppression. But the proposals are also sparking further division among Republicans. "There are probably about two recommendation there I think are a good idea," former Georgia attorney general Sam Olens said. "There is a bunch in the document that me and Mike Thurmond would respond in the same way to. This is Jim Crow. There is a bunch in the document that is 2021 Jim Crow." In news from the U.S. Capitol, Trump's Atlanta-based impeachment lawyer David Schoen warned senators their decision to try the president was dividing the country like no other moment in history since the Civil War. Panelists: Michael Thurmond — CEO DeKalb County Sam Olens — former Georgia attorney general Jim Galloway — former Political Writer at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Some say the press continues to portray the Republican Party as a "mainstream, center-right entity," long after their words and deeds reflect something more ominous. Is the media failing to convey the extreme behavior of the GOP out of fear they will be accused of liberal bias? It's not the first time the media has been accused of bias or been too slow to see something for what it is instead of what they want it to be. Also this hour: Five members of former President Trump's impeachment team departed Saturday, a little over a week before the Senate trial is set to begin on February 9. On Sunday, Trump hired lawyers David Schoen and Bruce L. Castor Jr. to take over. Will they be ready by next week?
