Episode 314 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a fantastic interview with longtime NHL goalie and coach Rick Wamsley. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Wamsley touches on everything from 13 seasons playing in the NHL over three decades, to coaching goalies in the League for another 15 years, including going from "goalie on Tuesday to goalie coach on Wednesday" with Felix Potvin and the Toronto Maple Leafs in the early 1990s. There are great stories on every aspect of the game and position, from his start as a Montreal Canadiens draft pick and fellow goalies sewing Tupperware on their gear, to having Jacques Plante as a coach, learning from watching John Davidson in the AHL, and coaching Craig Anderson, as well as some really interesting lessons that applied to goaltending when he started, and still hold true today, 45 years later. We also talk about Wamsley's work as an OHL consultant and how it led to a new online venture, GoalieU designed to help goalies improve through video work. Check it out because we've got an exciting new partnership coming that will benefit InGoal Members too!In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we respond to a few common questions for listeners including travelling with goalie gear, breaking in new gear and the smallest goalies being forced by team rule to carry their own bags.We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Charlie Lindgren of the Washington Capitals with great advice on managing depth and post integration when facing breakaways off the wing, and how both differ compared to a straight line 1-on-1.And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a closer look at the all new Bauer Pro kneepads and why they have been generating so much buzz this summer.

Episode 307 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features goalie coach Pierre Groulx, who is coming off a trip to the PWHL final with for the Ottawa Charge after spending 15 seasons in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Groulx talks about his transition to coaching in the PWHL and some of the trends and tendencies that might differ a little, whether it's on the ice or in how you manage the increased use of video for goalies that haven't had the same degree of coaching in-season before the PWHL raised the bar for resources. Of course, a lot of that work is similar to what Groulx did in the NHL, so he shared some of the foundations and lessons that he developed along the way, and the how working with goalies like Craig Anderson and Carey Price helped cement many of them.In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we go over the first 5 of 10 gear tips for goalie parents. While this week is aimed largely at parents of young goalies, we're sure everyone will have an opinion on them and a few of their own to add in as well.We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Devin Cooley of the Calgary Flames with a fantastic breakdown of a shooter's 3 options -- and how to read, approach and manage each one -- when they're cutting to the net off an angle on a rush chance. And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports to for a deep dive on the new EFLEX 7.9 pads and gloves that launched this week and represent the best second price point option CCM has ever offered, including opportunities to add some custom option beyond name and color!
It's been a relatively busy week in the Seattle hockey sphere, with Lane Lambert being officially introduced as the next head coach of the Seattle Kraken and the PWHL Expansion Draft having been held on Monday. Episode 306 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a great interview with Seattle Kraken prospect Victor Östman after a wild first season of pro hockey. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Östman discusses his roots and training in the position growing up in Sweden, his continuing evolution in the USHL and then through four years at the University of Maine, and a crazy first full season after turning pro at the end of past season. It included games in the ECHL, AHL and his NHL debut with the Kraken, as well as a goalie fight despite having an EBUG backing him up on the bench and a little known rule that kept him in the game. It's another can't miss interview with a goalie we suspect you'll hear a lot about in the coming years. In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we asked listeners if you could pick ONLY 1 thing to work on this summer, would it be: A. Goalie-specific training with a coach (at a camp or 1-on-1), B. Playing Games or C. Skating (power or goalie specific). That sparked a great discussion on the benefits of each, with input from respondents to our question on social media. We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Charlie Lindgren breaking down video and discussing the importance of in-zone awareness even when your teammates have the puck, as well as the importance of not widening out as you drift backwards in order to avoid biting on fakes. And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports to for a deep dive on the new CCM EFLEX 7 pads and gloves that launch in full at retail next week.
In this episode, the guys do some time warping... They initially recorded on Wednesday night, before the news broke that the Kraken had hired Lane Lambert as their third head coach. Also in this episode, plenty of Stanley Cup Playoffs and World Championship talk. Plus, Down on the Farm, PWHL, Weekly One-timers, and What's Good?SUBSCRIBE! ENJOY! REVIEW!
