Born into a hockey family, Hayley Scamurra wanted to compete just like her brothers and father who had played in the NHL . While she fell in love with the sport herself, she also felt the need to always be the best and live up to her father's expectations. This pressure began to manifest in severe anxiety for which she sought out therapy. Through this process, she learned to focus on what she could control including being physical, controlling the puck and having fun. She also empowered herself to redefine her relationship with her father, set boundaries and help him treat her like his daughter not just a hockey player. Hayley has won a championship for the Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL, finally made the team USA roster and ultimately won 2 gold and 2 silver medals in world championships. She is also a 2022 Olympic Silver Medalist. She reminds us that this has been the dream the whole time. As the competition grew more intense, she needed to maintain the mindset to remember how fun it was as a little girl when she skated in her backyard ice rink as fast as she could until she jumped into the snow along the rink! @hayleyscamurra

The Minnesota Whitecaps may have fallen short in overtime during the 2023 Isobel Cup Final, but they did finish the 2022-23 season with a title. For the second year, the Whitecaps took home bragging rights from the Battle of the Rig hosted by the Tulsa Oilers in Oklahoma. Angelica Rodriguez and Erica L. Ayala interviewed Buffalo Beauts general manager Nate Oliver and Minnesota Whitecaps general manager Chi-Yin Tse live from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma (the headquarters of Black Rosie Media). We discussed playing an exhibition in Tulsa, recapping the 2023 Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) season, the 2023 IIHF Women's Worlds Championships, and how each team is approaching their head coach search and free agency. Actor and former athlete Harrison Browne reunites with Eric Bizzarri after two years in studio. Eric produced the Feature Film On the Fringe of Wild, with Harrison in the lead role. The film completed production March 14, 2020. The two discuss the unique experience of moving into isolation immediately after being surrounded by a large cast and crew each day. Harrison is the first transgender athlete in professional hockey, having been a part of the National Women's Hockey League and winning championships for the Metropolitan Riveters and Buffalo Beauts. As a trailblazer and pioneer for LGBTQ rights, Harrison discusses avoiding being labelled as a "poster child" for transgender rights and freedoms, but rather an activist for these segregations, as well as creating his own approvals and spaces to feel accepted in by pursuing projects and people he loves. Towards acting, he's always tackling imposter syndrome and the drive to "book the gig."

On March 27, the NWHL crowned an Isobel Cup champion for the first time in 24 months. And what a ride it was: We laughed; we cried; we had COVID interruptus; and, yes, we saw some awesome hockey. Listen in as Pete Perram shares a first-hand portrait of life in the Lake Placid Bubble for the dapperest head coach in the League. Given an oh-too-early tournament exit by the Buffalo Beauts, the erstwhile skipper was free and eager to provide a considered St. Patty’s Day prognostication for the remaining contenders at the Warrior Ice Arena in Boston, and we share the outcome, all in one episode.
