What a week ahead for the Parramatta Eels! Not only are the NRL squad hunting a break through back-to-back win against the Cronulla Sharks in Magic Round, there are three – yes THREE – Junior Representative squads fighting for glory on the weekend. The Tip Sheet also wades into the murky waters of NRL's officiating interpretations following a psychotic weekend where 18 players were sin binned.
A crackdown on high tackles in the last round of the NRL saw 18 players sent to the sin-bin and has divided opinions about the state of the game. Six players have accepted a combined 13 games worth of suspensions from the weekend and the NRL has admitted there was a "a slight overreaction" from officials. Sports reporter Felicity Reid spoke to Lisa Owen.

Former NRL referee Bill Harrigan feels common sense needs to be taken into account when determining the severity of high tackles. It follows round eight of the competition, where 18 players were sin-binned, 15 of those for head high contact. One of those was Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell, who was given his marching orders after a hit on Storm winger Sua Fa'alogo, who appeared to be slipping before the collision. Harrigan points to that incident as one he disagrees with. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
