This week on the podcast is the return of Malachi Schoenherr. Malachi is currently a junior who runs for Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon. He is a 2x State Champ (2024 Oregon 6A 3K Track Champ & 2024 Oregon 6A XC State Champ). Malachi also just recently committed to run for BYU in 2026. Malachi has had a rollercoaster ride since the last time I talked to him in the summer. He had an up-and-down junior cross-country season, not winning a single race until his conference meet, yet breaking his 5K XC school record, running 14:46. Malachi went on to win a state title and was optimistic heading into NXR until a bad day ended his season. This past winter Malachi committed to run for the BYU Cougars, the defending NCAA XC Champs. He is only a junior, so he still has one more year of high school running left. Today, Malachi dive deep into the recruitment process for BYU, why BYU was particularly special for him, as well as his honest opinions on the 2024 cross country season, the elusive sub-4 barrier, and much more. Tap into the Malachi Schoenherr Special! Please leave a follow and a five-star review!Thank you so much to all my listeners for the support!I hope you enjoy this episode of The Sunday Shakeout!
This week on the pod is Malachi Schoenherr! Malachi has quickly established himself as being one of the top Sophomore talents in the country. Malachi recently finished 7th in the Boys Elite Mile at the Jesuit Twilight Meet (4:10.78), breaking the Sheldon High School record and besting many national-level athletes. A few weeks ago, Malachi broke the 42-year-old school record in the 3,000m at the Sherwood Need for Speed Classic (8:17.20). The man is an absolute beast and he is only a Sophomore! In this episode, Malachi and I talk about his 4:10 mile, his journey from soccer to the sport of running, his high-volume training (65+ miles per week in the winter). We also discuss his aspirations for the future, and more! Throughout our conversation today, Malachi emphasizes the importance of keeping joy in the sport, having a strong support system, staying humble, and many other valuable lessons. Malachi is a very humble and promising athlete who will one day shine on a national (and maybe international) level. Make sure to tune into this one! The 13th overall pick in the 1987 NFL Draft joins the Club to discuss all things football. 21 years after his NFL career was cut short by concussions, Miller shares why he thinks football is now safer than ever, why high school sports are important, what he does to build leaders within the West Linn football program, and much more!Miller was also a highly-touted baseball prospect who was drafted in the 17th round of the 1983 MLB draft out of Sheldon High School and eventually played one Minor League Baseball season in the Seattle Mariners organization in 1986. But he also played QB for the Oregon Ducks from 1983-86 before the Atlanta Falcons selected him in the first round of the '87 NFL Draft. Miller went on to throw for over 19,000 yards in the NFL, and at the time in 1991 became the 5th youngest player to reach the 10,000 yard mark. He endured dozens of concussions that resulted in short-term memory less, ultimately sending him into early retirement after the 1995 season. He returned to play one season for the Denver Broncos in 1999.Since then, he has been the head football coach at South Eugene High School and West Linn High School, in addition to serving as the quarterbacks coach for the Arizona Cardinals and the offensive coordinator for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL in 2020. After the XFL disbanded during the pandemic, Miller returned to the high school coaching ranks. You can reach out to Coach Miller on Twitter @ChrisMillerQB.

Azizah Diamond was born on June 20,1989 in Sacramento, Ca. Mixed with Black, Japanese, Choctaw Indian and some family said Ethiopia, she grew up in very cultured families. Azizah began singing in her grandmother's home away from home, Saint Paul Baptist Church, as a young girl. Brought up in the church, Azizah learned to love everything from gospel to rhythm and blues. Knicknamed “Sugamama” and "Miss Hollywood" as a child, she was constantly caught dancing in the mirror singing "old school" songs with her mother and was the first love child in the family. She taught the family how to say "I love You" to each other by simply saying it to her grandmother. Her family knew at an early age that Azizah was born for stardom. Raised in a strict home and attending a private school at a young age she was only allowed to listen to certain music, so she would always sneak and listen to the radio at night to learn different songs to sing. I was always listening to Janet and Aaliyah growing. She attended Sheldon High School where she became a member of the dance company Universal Rhythm. Well known for their dance routines in her hometown, and her love for Janet Jackson's dance moves she was named "Miss Janet" with Azizah at the lead, the group had amazing performances. She worked with rapper Doey Rock out of Sacramento Azizah had her first radio play on KSFM 102.5 as a featured artist on a song called " Halo", later doing shows with Doey Rock she became well known in her home town. Her family and friends encouraged her to want to move to a bigger city to get more opportunities.
