In hour 2 of The Drive, Zach and Phil continue their conversation on the Avalanche and failing to meet expectations last postseason. We pivot to the Broncos and break down the cuts they made over the weekend. What do the guys make of the Broncos cutting Justin Joly and Red Murdock? Could Joly have been the Broncos' tight end of the future if he didn't burn bridges in the building? Should Jaleel McLaughlin have made the final roster over Tyler Badie? Today's "Three Count" features Peyton Watson's comments on Michael Porter Jr's podcast following his absence in the playoffs, reacting to Week 0 in college football, and reacting to how empty USC's stadium was when hosting San Jose State. With the Broncos being one of the oldest teams in the NFL, we debate if there is an added level of urgency to win a Super Bowl now.

He tries to get back on track today by revealing Nos. 6 and 5 on his catchphrase list, and it works to perfection because these are some heavy hitters. Should The Bulls SAVE Their Assets For A STAR? Bryson Graham's Biggest Rebuild Test

Chicago Bulls Central

Should the Chicago Bulls stop chasing incremental upgrades and save their assets for the player who can actually change the franchise ceiling? On today's Chicago Bulls Central, Haize breaks down one of the biggest questions of the Bryson Graham rebuild: when should the Bulls finally cash in their flexibility? Chicago has kept its books clean with Josh Giddey on a flat contract, Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis on rookie-scale deals, movable veteran contracts like Norman Powell, Nic Claxton, Isaac Okoro and Jalen Smith, plus additional draft capital from the Ayo Dosunmu trade. That flexibility matters — but only if Graham uses it at the right time.Haize explains why Chicago should call about players like Jericho Sims, Jordan Hawkins, Peyton Watson and Scoot Henderson, but also why there is a major difference between a value move and a franchise-altering move. The Bulls still need to learn what Caleb Wilson, Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey truly are before spending major assets on the wrong star or the wrong position. The show dives into the major evaluation questions: Is Caleb a No. 1 option, elite No. 2 or high-level starter? Is Matas a true second star or more of a third option? Does Giddey scale as the long-term playoff point guard? Which young players — Rob Dillingham, Dailyn Swain, Noa Essengue and Leonard Miller — are real rotation assets? And does the Wilson-Claxton frontcourt actually work offensively?Plus, Haize builds a Bulls star-target board featuring Paolo Banchero, Donovan Mitchell, Franz Wagner, Devin Booker, Evan Mobley, Zion Williamson, Tyler Herro, Michael Porter Jr. and more — while explaining why Chicago cannot spend superstar ammunition on secondary pieces.

In this episode of Selective Ignorance, Mandii B is joined by super producer A-King, journalist Jayson Rodriguez, and headline king Jason “Jah” Lee for a wide-ranging conversation covering politics, media, race, culture, sports, and celebrity discourse. After Mandii previews the episode’s agenda [ 00:38 ], the crew checks in and introduces the producers [ 02:48 ] before examining how social media algorithms and comment sections increasingly determine what information people see, believe, and engage with [ 06:47 ]. A hilarious detour into gut health, relationships, and couples getting way too comfortable with bathroom habits follows [ 10:14 ], before A-King raises concerns about the lack of urgency surrounding the upcoming midterm elections, questioning why political optics and viral conversations often receive more attention than policy, voting, and civic engagement [ 15:32 ]. The crew continues by asking whether the public is truly prepared for the midterms—or simply waiting until election season becomes another trending topic [ 24:02 ]. In “This Is America,” the conversation returns to the Nolan Wells case as the hosts review newly cleaned-up emergency audio prepared by sound engineer Jeanetta Brantley [ 25:34 ]. The recording sparks questions about the use of artificial intelligence and audio enhancement in investigations, with the crew debating when technological tools provide clarity and when skepticism is warranted [ 27:11 ], before examining what they believe can actually be heard in the enhanced clip [ 30:00 ]. The discussion expands to reports of potential defamation litigation [ 31:18 ], the purpose of preservation letters and protecting evidence during legal disputes [ 33:25 ], and concerns raised about missing organs following the autopsy [ 34:24 ]. As media personalities weigh in on the developing story [ 35:19 ], the hosts debate the rise of political grifters, outrage-driven media, and booking controversial personalities simply to manufacture debate [ 37:04 ]. That leads to a nuanced conversation surrounding Candace Owens [ 38:04 ] and Mandii’s own experiences with online controversy and public backlash [ 39:12 ]. The episode then turns to Tuskegee University’s new student etiquette and dress-code policies, including restrictions surrounding bonnets and durags, sparking a passionate debate over professionalism, Black cultural expression, and institutional standards [ 42:57 ]. The crew puts their perspectives to the test with an “Are We Aligned?” vote [ 44:15 ], before unpacking respectability politics and the tension between personal freedom and expectations placed on Black students [ 46:31 ]. They question whether traditional ideas of respectability actually reflect real-world professionalism [ 51:03 ], examine the racial and cultural biases attached to durags and bonnets [ 53:20 ], and debate how much authority HBCUs should have over student appearance and individual expression [ 56:29 ]. The conversation shifts back to activism as the crew discusses allegations that Colin Kaepernick stopped communicating with activist Mysonne, using the situation to examine the realities of organizing, movement-building, celebrity activism, and what happens when public alliances fracture behind the scenes [ 01:03:33 ]. Sports takes over briefly with reactions to LeBron James joining Philadelphia [ 01:15:18 ] and growing excitement surrounding the upcoming NBA season [ 01:19:20 ]. From there, the hosts tackle Michael Porter Jr.’s comments about women who travel, questioning whether frequent travel should really be considered a dating red flag [ 01:21:25 ] and pushing back on the idea that women traveling for experiences automatically signals something negative about their character [01:22:31 ]. Closing out the episode, the crew reacts to Nara Smith rejecting the “tradwife” label following her appearance on Call Her Daddy [ 01:32:04 ], sparking a larger debate about traditional gender roles, influencer branding, public perception, and whether online personalities can distance themselves from identities that helped build their audiences. That conversation evolves into a spirited discussion about grifting, rebranding, authenticity, and the difference between how creators define themselves versus how the public interprets their content [ 01:38:15 ]. The episode concludes with final thoughts and credits [ 01:50:00 ], wrapping another Selective Ignorance conversation that challenges listeners to look beyond viral headlines and consider how politics, algorithms, identity, activism, and internet culture shape what we believe and how we engage with the world around us. Learn how to JournalSpeak ➡️  https://tinyurl.com/2ph33u2s In this solo episode, I'm responding to the flood of questions that came in after a viral Instagram reel shared the story of my work with NBA player Michael Porter Jr. Michael's recovery is extraordinary, but this episode is not just about Michael. It's about the question his story awakens in so many people: How can someone have a very real diagnosis, very real imaging, very real pain, and still recover when they begin to understand the brain, the nervous system, and the mind-body connection? After three back surgeries, ongoing pain, and a diagnosis of degenerative disc disease, Michael reached out to me because he was willing to consider that there might be another explanation for what was happening in his body. That willingness changed everything. Today, I'm breaking down the larger teaching behind his story through the three legs of the stool in my work: believe, do the work, and patience and kindness for yourself. I explain why chronic pain is not “in your head,” but why the solution is not in the body, even when there are findings on an MRI, blood work, gut testing, or a scary diagnosis on paper. I talk about degenerative disc disease, back pain, migraines, IBS, autoimmune symptoms, long COVID, pelvic pain, inflammation, neuropathy, and the way the nervous system can keep us safe in the unsafest way. Most importantly, I want you to understand this: your pain is real, your symptoms are real, and your body is not broken. When you understand what sustained fight-or-flight is doing, when you learn how to lower the emotional reservoir through JournalSpeak, and when you begin treating yourself with real self-compassion, healing becomes possible in a way many people have never been told to consider. We pivot to the Nuggets as their "brass" will all speak tomorrow at the end of the season press conferences. What are the guys looking to hear from Nuggets ownership, executives, and the head coach? Do the Nuggets still have an optimistic future, just three seasons after winning a championship? How will finances impact the Nuggets' roster moves this offseason? Do the Nuggets have any other option besides trading Jamal Murray to reshape their roster? Today's "Three Count" includes Michael Porter Jr. saying he felt like a hater when rooting for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Gary Bettman claiming the NHL playoff model is working really well, and Russell Wilson weighing his options between the Jets or network television. NHL Network Mike Johnson joins the show to discuss if the Avalanche series is over after the Avs took games 1 and 2, the goaltender controversies for both teams in the series, and much more.

Then the guys debate who the best white NBA player in the league is right now (12:30). Even with Detroit's 3-1 comeback over the Magic, the Pistons still need a real second scoring option, so they get into who should be on their list this summer: Devin Booker, Kawhi Leonard, Michael Porter Jr., or somebody else (33:07). Melo also reacts to Michael Beasley's all-time one-and-done starting 5 and says he's swapping one name out (50:42). Then it gets serious. Melo, Mero, and Kaz go On the Hook for a full hood snacks bracket and argue it all the way down to a winner (1:08:44). As always, the show closes with a hilarious FWI or FOH (2:07:37), but not before the guys get into the Iceman rollout. Melo does not say whether he has heard any of it yet, but he does talk about what he expects from Drake sonically and why he thinks this could end up being his best album yet (2:17:16). Is the NBA draft lottery rigged to reward losing? Veteran NBA insider Ric Bucher sits down with Dr. TJ Highley, Associate Professor of Math & Computer Science at LaSalle University, who has developed a groundbreaking anti-tanking formula that could change the NBA forever — and it doesn't involve eliminating the draft.Highley's COLA (Carryover Lottery Allocation) system strips tanking of its incentive by rewarding playoff history instead of regular season losses. Teams would accumulate lottery tickets over time based on sustained failure — not deliberate losing — making intentional tanking mathematically pointless. But Bucher pushes back with 30 years of hard-won NBA knowledge: not every owner wants to win. Some — following the Donald Sterling playbook — are perfectly content selling hope while pocketing profits. Can any formula fix that?Plus: Bucher delivers a candid reassessment of the Denver Nuggets title chances and why the Michael Porter Jr. trade may have cost them more than anyone realized — rebounding. And a sharp takedown of the analytics crowd that thinks they've cracked the code on building a championship team.⏱️ TIMESTAMPS00:00 — Intro & Book Announcement 02:02 — Meet Dr. TJ Highley: The Math Professor Trying to Fix NBA Tanking 03:31 — His NBA Fandom: Spurs to Sixers & "The Process" 05:21 — COLA Explained: How Playoff History Replaces Regular Season Records 07:57 — Has Any NBA Insider Reviewed This System? 09:59 — Simple COLA: A Brand-New Version Revealed for the First Time 13:35 — Should the NBA Abolish the Draft?
