In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back in studio following USC's hard-fought 26-21 come from behind victory over Iowa, keeping the Trojans hopes of a College Football Playoff berth alive. The Men of Troy did not come out of the contest unscathed, losing starting left tackle Elijah Paige and starting safeties Kamari Ramsey and Bishop Fitzgerald to injuries during the game. Next up, No. 15 USC goes back on the road for the last time in the regular season, taking on No. 7 Oregon with ESPN's College Gameday on campus for the huge matchup. The crew gives some of their takes from the win over the Hawkeyes, including head coach Lincoln Riley calling it a "culture win," showing that this Trojans squad is tough enough to play gritty games in the Big Ten. They also have an update on the injury situation, discussing which star players will be able to contribute in this massive matchup in Eugene. While a spot in the field of 12 to determine the national champion is on the line, there is even more at stake when USC and Oregon clash. There is also the recruiting side of this rivalry, with the Ducks pushing into Southern California for top prospects and the Trojans showing they are taking things seriously and can defend their home turf on the recruiting trail. Friday night in Eugene sadly went as most people expected for the Minnesota Gophers as they were dominated by Oregon 42-13. The Oregon Ducks outgained the Minnesota Gophers by 310 yards, amassing 510 on the night. The Minnesota Gophers offense wasn't much to write home about, but it was the defense that continues to be worrisome. With a defense this leaky, should we be worried about beating Wisconsin and retaining the axe? What about being able to beat Northwestern next weekend to finally win a road game? On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping what was another impressive performance in the Coliseum, a 38-17 victory over Northwestern on Friday night. The Trojans and Wildcats were close in the first half, but an amazing defensive play by Jayden Maiava gave USC new life and sparked a 14-point swing. In the second half the Trojan defense took over, allowing only a lone field goal after the break. The crew gives their thoughts on the Trojan offense getting things rolling again, with Jayden Maiava back to his old form, King Miller rushing for over 100-yards in his first Coliseum start and Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane both bringing their 'A' games. On the defensive side, it was a rough start after Northwestern scored touchdowns on its first two drives, but after that the USC defense was able to tighten up and keep the Wildcats out of the end zone, only allowing 3 points the rest of the way. They also discuss where the 7-2 (5-1) Trojans are in the Big Ten standings, with a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoffs if they can win out. The road gets tougher over the next couple of weeks, with a tough Iowa squad coming to the Coliseum followed by a difficult road trip to Eugene to take on the No. 9 Oregon Ducks.
