Another Mad NBA Trade Deadline & Paul George is Suspended

On this episode of The Drive & Dish NBA Podcast, hosted by Kevin Rafuse (@rafusetolose) and Justin Cousart (@JustinContheAir), Kevin is joined by Sam B. Albuquerque (@sambalbuquerque) to break down a busy trade deadline. First, Kevin puts on his homer hat though and breaks down Paul George's 25 game suspension and the Sixers trading Jared McCain to OKC. Why Kevin and Sam think the PG suspension is not the end of the world, but why the McCain trade is a disaster. After the break, Jaren Jackson Jr. is officially shut down for the season after being traded to the Jazz. What this signals for a Grizzlies rebuild and a larger tanking race signal from Utah. Plus, why Utah came out of left to make this move. Next, Anthony Davis is headed to Washington to team up with Trae Young and the new look Wizards. Does this move make sense now? Then, a major swap between the Clippers and Cavaliers as James Harden and Darius Garland swap places. Why the Clippers made this move despite a turn around and if this makes the Cavaliers true contenders. Plus, a few quick hitters with the Bulls and red hot Hornets making moves. 0:00 ... Show open ... Ross introduces panel and dedicates show #223 to Jaren Jackson Jr, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. 1:17 ... Dave's former team, the Clippers have played well the past month but still became sellers at the deadline ... what was their plan? 2:55 ... The Memphis Grizzlies sent Jaren Jackson Jr to the Utah Jazz in a curious move.  Is there any sense to this move and some other recent moves like trading Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane? 6:26 ... Dave worked with Danny Ainge in Boston where he pulled off a trade for Ray Allen that helped the Celtics acquire Kevin Garnett and win a title.  Can he pull off a similar trick in Utah? 8:52 ... Utah basically tanked a winnable game last weekend against Orlando ... was it a bad look for the league that needs to be addressed? 10:55 ... Will Jazz coach Will Hardy start feeling the pressure next year with a better group of players? 11:45 ... The Washington Wizards seem to be moving away from their young players by acquiring veterans like Trae Young, Anthony Davis, D'Angelo Russell, and some others.  Will it stifle the progress their young guys were making? 14:34 ... The Wizards seem like a rudderless ship but Dave feels their new GM Michael Winger is smart and there may be subsequent steps involving the guys they acquired. 15:54 ... What about the Celtics trading Anfrenee Simons and getting back Nik Vucevich?  Dave loves the deal for Boston.  Dave also feels like Brad Stevens has done amazing work in making smart moves while keeping the team in good financial shape. 18:27 ... Payton Pritchard is back to his 6th man role with the departure of Simons.  Dave loves this role for him because Pritchard proved he could start in the league and he'll have lots of freedom on the second unit. 20:06 ... Jonathan Kuminga was traded from Golden State to Atlanta with Kristaps Porzingis going to the Warriors ... how does this affect their playoff chances? 21:30 ... How does Kuminga fit in in Atlanta? 23:22 ... What does Giannis Antetokounmpo's future look like?  Is he staying in Milwaukee for the long haul? 24:43 ... Expect to see Giannis in Milwaukee at the start of next season.  Giannis is very loyal.  Dave compares him to what Kevin Garnett went through in Minnesota. 26:09 ... Orlando was quiet at the trade deadline.  They're a well coached team with a good roster but they should be better. 27:16 ... Fun topics to cloe the show... how serious are the Philadelphia 76ers as contenders in the east? 28:27 ... The Charlotte Hornets have been on fire ... do they have a chance to make the postseason? 29:48 ... Dave feels Sacramento is the opposite of the Hornets ... they haven't been to the Finals since 1951 and the owner keeps firing good coaches.  No reason for excitement in SacTown. 32:13 ... The Bulls have made a bunch of trades and didn't get any first round picks while some of their guys made contributions elsewhere.  They never seem to have a breakout season but it's hard to see what direction they're moving in. 33:59 ... Injuries have been a problem across the league and it's making some good players ineligible for postseason awards due to the 65 game rule.  Can anything be done? 36:25 ... Is there anything about the style of play that is causing injuries to occur more frequently?  Dave cites some examples of random injuries 38:46 ... LeBron James needs to play every game the rest of the way since he would need to do that to reach 65 games played.  If he does it, is that good for the team?  Dave transitions into a fun story about how he once played just 5 seconds in a game, and went into that game at the 47:55 mark. 43:49 ... Can the Spurs be a serious contender?  Dave feels like they can and also ticks off some other teams he feels can win it all. 46:49 ... Ross wraps things up and closes out the show.   TRT 47:21                   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. HR3 - If Michael Penix can go through motions during offseason programs that's a win Mike Johnson, Ali Mac, and Beau Morgan quickly touch on some of the biggest headlines around the local and national sports scene, let you hear Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. tell Sports Director of WSB-TV Channel 2 in Atlanta Zach Klein that he'll be ready to play week one, react to what Penix Jr. had to say, and explain why they think Penix Jr.'s previous knee injuries should help him be ready for week one. Then, Mike, Ali, and Beau spend some time with reporter, host, and analyst for CBS Sports Evan Washburn! Mike, Beau, Ali, and Evan discuss how Evan prepared for the cold and snowy AFC Championship game last Sunday, how much the weather affected the AFC Championship game, Bo Nix saying that he does not have a preexisting condition in his right ankle that would have required surgery in the future had he not suffered the fracture in the AFC Championship game, how Evan feels about the Atlanta Falcons hiring Kevin Stefanski as their next Head Coach, the people at CBS missing Matt Ryan but being happy for him and his new role as the Falcons President of Football, what Evan's reaction was when he found out Bill Belichick wasn't a first ballot Hall of Famer, and if he was more surprised that New York Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn was allowed to basically fire his whole coaching staff, the Buffalo Bills deciding to promote Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady and make him their next Head Coach, or the rumors that Jim Schwartz and Todd Monken could end up being co-head coaches in Cleveland for the Browns. The Morning Shift crew also talks about Onyeka Okongwu losing some teeth in the Atlanta Hawks 117-106 win over the Boston Celtics last night in Boston, explain why they think the Hawks are finally looking like the team they were expected to be and look like in the post Trae Young era, and then close out hour three by answering people's questions about anything in the Morning Mailbag!

On this episode of Combo's Court, Combo and Pierre (Numbers On The Board) dive into one of the biggest questions surrounding the Warriors: will Steph Curry finish his career with the Golden State Warriors? The conversation breaks down Steph's legacy, Golden State's responsibility to maximize his remaining prime, and whether playing “meaningful basketball” matters more than chasing one more ring. From there, the discussion expands into a deeper NBA debate — do positions still matter, or has the league misunderstood what “positionless basketball” really means? Combo and Pierre unpack how stars like Trae Young, Ja Morant, LaMelo Ball, Zion Williamson, Anthony Edwards, and Giannis are valued in today's trade market, why role players may be getting overrated, and how salary caps, health, and playoff success shape real team-building decisions. The episode also touches on the Knicks' outlook, All-Star snubs, legacy narratives, and more! The show wraps with a hip-hop crossover debate on 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and classic album legacy. On this episode of the MalloryBros Podcast, the Bros start with J. Cole's album announcement and his new track “The Inevitable,” setting expectations for what's coming next. That conversation naturally opens the door to a real debate about the Big 3 in Hip Hop — whether that label still holds weight or if the culture has already moved on. From there, the Bros talk about Kai Cenat's recent viral moments online, discussing how quickly public perception can shift and how easily narratives and morals change once the coast is clear. The conversation touches on intent, criticism, and the reality of being under constant public scrutiny. The episode also dives into Druski's viral church skit, questioning where the line is in comedy and whether his success has put him in a different category than his peers. The Bros discuss his style, his influence, and what separates him from the rest of the comedy space right now. Terrell presses Terrance on his thoughts about Trae Young and the Washington Wizards, before the conversation takes a lighter turn into video game soundtrack nostalgia and how certain music instantly brings you back. Later, the Bros talk about a viral social media breakup, the role online attention plays in relationships, and how public perception can outweigh real-life context. They also touch on a more serious topic involving a missing spouse, before closing the episode with NFL playoff reactions and their AFC and NFC Championship picks.
