Founding member/vocalist of one of the founding fathers of Sweden's incredible Melodeath scene Soilwork, Björn "Speed" Strid sat down to have a chat with Metal V about their stellar new album Övergivenheten, still being relevant after nearly three decades of musical creation and vision, their influence on both old and new metal bands as well as finding new ways to reniterpret themselves. Their style of writing and delivery of a genre that Soilwork helped to spawn plus much more as well as playing some of Soilwork's finest songs both past and present.

Björn “Speed” Strid of The Night Flight Orchestra and Soilwork is back on the show! We start out by discussing the brand new album from The Night Flight Orchestra, Aeromantic II; why they released standalone singles that are not on the record, the entire band catching Covid-19 after their last tour in March of 2020, why there would not have been a new album if not for Covid-19, the band's plans on investing in a tour at this stage of the pandemic, his view on how Sweden handled the pandemic with only restrictions and no lockdowns, why he feels sometimes Sweden is a very spoiled country, and how The Night Flight Orchestra started as a side project but has since become so much more. Petar, Brandon, and Sylvia discuss Corey Taylor's son's thoughts on Joey Jordison's passing, the rumor of John Corabi replacing Vince Neil on the Motley Crüe stadium tour, and the drama between Bad Wolves and former lead singer Tommy Vext. Thank you to our sponsor, Metal Blade Records, for their continued support! Songs: The Night Flight Orchestra - “Burn For Me” and “Chardonnay Nights”
Bjorn sits down with Robb to talk Night Flight Orchestras new 80's-riffic album, how a bunch of white boys from Sweden can disco that hard, how metal fans can dance in a Behemoth shirt, plus we talk his pandemic sobriety, and the darkest times of his life touring in the US. Mark Morton of Lamb of God is our guest this week! We discuss a number of topics including his memories of Children of Bodom's Alexi Laiho, his picks for the Big 4 New Wave of American Heavy Metal bands, his thoughts on the Black Crowes reunion as a huge fan, how he's never seen any classic action movies from the '80s, and his choice for the de facto heavy metal TV sitcom. Mark also gives us a quick update on the new material he's been working on this year. Petar, Brandon, and Jozalyn discuss the tragic passing of Entombed's LG Petrov, Jeremy Spencer starting over with Psychosexual, Geezer Butler talking credit for the iconic devil horns, and Serj Tankian's love for his brother in law, System drummer John Dolmayan, despite their vastly different political views. Songs: Lamb of God - “Ghost Shaped People," Gizmachi - “Look What I've Become” (featuring Björn “Speed” Strid), Entombed - “Full of Hell”
We discuss the Swedish government's lax response to the coronavirus pandemic, the strangest online purchases he's made while on lockdown and more. The post Soilwork's Björn “Speed” Strid on The MetalSucks Quarantinecast #7 appeared first on MetalSucks.
Göteborg Sound on death metallin käsite, jonka alullepanijoiksi voidaan itseoikeutetusti mm. laskea orkesterit kuten Dark Tranquility, In Flames sekä Soilwork. Ruotsin metallipääkaupunki Göteborgista ponkaisevat orkesterit tahkovat keikkalavoja vielä tänäkin päivänä. Soundi on uudistunut, mutta onko mikään muu muuttunut? Tästä, Göteborg Soundista ja omasta orkesteristaan tässä Soittakaa Paranoid! -podcastin jaksossa Henri Laukalle kertoo Soilwork-orkesterin laulaja/lauluntekijä Björn ”Speed” Strid.

Soilwork and The Night Flight Orchestra vocalist Bjorn “Speed” Strid is our guest this week. We discuss reigniting the fans and legacy of the band after 11 albums, how the Swedish bands and American bands of the mid '00s influenced each other, the rediscovery of the Scandinavian sound on The Living Infinite and how that journey has influenced the band's new album Verkligheten, being able to focus on touring the newer records and songs, if the success of The Night Flight Orchestra has affected the long gap between Soilwork albums, the importance of working as a collective on the new album, feeling limited lyrically in the metal genre, the importance of a gimmick with live shows in modern times and what he wish he implemented for Soilwork 20 years ago. Petar and Brandon tackle the announcement of Woodstock's 50th anniversary show, Mike Patton singing the National Anthem at the NFL playoffs (which was later canceled), Mike Pike canceling the High On Fire tour as a result of his diabetes, Jason Bittner stating Shadows Fall wore out their welcome, and if bands can become part time instead of taking a hiatus. Songs: Soilwork - “Arrival” Soilwork - “Full Moon Shoals” Soilwork - “Stålfågel”
