A conversation with Harriet and Rosie about their jewellery brand Tatty Devine, the world's go-to for fun and original statement pieces, on their journey from the brand's start in 1999. Since then, through Tatty Devine, Rosie and Harriet have achieved much, including collaborations with industry greats and recognition for their contribution to the fashion and jewellery industries.
On this week's episode of Women Who Create, Amy and Debbie are joined by Rosie Wolfenden, Co-Founder of Tatty Devine, as they explore and discuss equality issues and how we can start to align our brand with causes that we believe in.
This week, Alex is joined virtually by fellow jeweller, and co-founder of jewellery brand 'Tatty Devine', the marvellous Rosie Wolfenden MBE. Just like Alex Monroe, Tatty Devine hand-makes all their pieces in the UK with a strong commitment to ethical practices and sustainability, and are known and loved worldwide for their original and fun, statement acrylic jewellery. Rosie talks Alex through her favourite and most meaningful treasures, from her beloved grandmother’s necklace, to the personalised antique signet rings she and her husband wear as a symbol of their marriage.Listen in as Alex and Rosie talk about the bridge between art and commerciality, the role of jewellery as a playful and often political statement, and how accessorising allows us to to look different, express ourselves creatively, and communicate to an increasingly globalised and homogenised world exactly who we are!You can follow Rosie Wolfenden on Instagram @rosiewolfenden and Tatty Devine @tattydevineBoth Alex and Rosie love Rob Ryan, you can find out more about his work here https://robryanstudio.com/You can find a Parakeet Necklace similar to Rosie’s, here www.tattydevine.com/products/paradise-parakeet-super-statement-necklaceYou can find more information about the Fawcett Society here www.fawcettsociety.org.uk/For all things Alex Monroe jewellery, visit our website www.alexmonroe.comYou can see our Ocean Diamond Ring here www.alexmonroe.com/ocean-diamond-ringDiscover our Lobster Necklace here www.alexmonroe.com/lobster-necklaceYou can find out about the V&A Museum’s latest exhibition here www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/alice-curiouser-and-curiouserIllustration by Connie Bella MonroeEdited by Emily SandfordMusic by Daniel Patrick Cohen See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Rosie Wolfenden & Harriet Vine founded their handmade jewellery company Tatty Devine in 1999 very much as a 'side hustle'; selling their first pieces from a market stall in Camden after discovering the discarded fabric and sample books that they would create their first collection from. Having worked together for the past 20 years, Rosie & Harriet know a thing or two about making collaborations work, having seen successful collaborations with the V&A, Rob Ryan, & Anthony Gormley, to name a few. In this episode, Rosie & Harriet share their journey from that market stall to the pages of Vogue, their approach to sustainability, and how they found their signature style. A must listen for those dreaming of turning a side hustle into their dream career! This week’s episode of Conversations of Inspiration was recorded LIVE at St Mary’s Church in Marylebone London, as part of the most incredible day in the small business calendar, The Congregation of Inspiration 2019. This week’s guest is Rob Ryan, an artist renowned for his intricate papercuttings. His artwork has featured in Vogue, Elle, and Stylist. One year he created 28 Liberty Christmas windows which started a journey where Rob's work began to be seen by the masses. He has collaborated with Alex Monroe, Tatty Devine and none other than Sir Paul Smith. In this episode, Holly and Rob discuss his childhood, how he discovered his talents at the RCA, to then after a hard 20 years trying to make a living out of his art, the difficult choice he made, to allow his art to be for the masses. Recorded live, in a London church with the light streaming through the stained glass windows, as he told his story - this episode was personally an extra special and spiritual one. A fascinating insight into one of the most important jewellery brands in the UK. Learn about Rosie Wolfenden's and Harriet Vine's journey who established Tatty Devine in 1999. www.tattydevine.com MISSHAPES: THE MAKING OF TATTY DEVINE BOOK: www.tattydevine.com/products/missha…tty-devine-book
Tatty Devine is a jewellery company, created by artists Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden. We've all read that most businesses fail before five years. Rosie and Harriet are currently celebrating their 20th! Their business started with a bag of found leather offcuts that they started selling on a market stall and now their creations are worn by the likes of Nina Nesbit, Noel Fielding, Jessie J and Bjork (plus lots of mere mortals too!) We're excited to be collaborating with Tatty Devine, on an upcoming series of murals! We strongly believe that creativity is the most important thing, and it's being crushed in this country, especially within the school system. Watch this space to see how we're going to be tackling this issue.

This week, I chat to Rosie Wolfenden MBE, co-founder and managing director of Tatty Devine. If you haven’t seen any of Tatty Devine’s iconic designs, you’re missing out. They are playful, colourful and definitely make a statement. In this episode we talk about Tatty Devine’s beginnings, making plastic more sustainable and what Rosie is organising […]
In this episode, I talk to Jools Walker, aka VeloCity Girl. She blogs at velocitygirl.co.uk and describes herself as a cycle-style blogger, and while I thought I wanted to talk to her about cycling (because it terrifies me), what I really wanted to hear about was making your way in an industry that doesn't represent you. Here, Jools talks often about how she still suffers from impostor syndrome as a black woman in the cycling world, even though she's considered an expert in her field. We also discuss her other great love: the jewellery brand Tatty Devine.
Seaond Two Finale! My guests this weekare Rosie Wolfenden MBE & Harriet Vine MBE the creative partnership behind the iconic Tatty Devine. In our interview we discuss what their degree taught them, how Tatty Devine evolved from a market stall filled with accessories made from found items to the playful perspex jewellery house we know today.
