The Pod and Prejudice podcast is an absolute delight for fans of Jane Austen and her timeless novels. Hosted by Molly and Becca, this podcast explores Austen's works in a fun and insightful way. As a huge Pride and Prejudice fan, I was hooked from the start and found myself eagerly reading along with Molly as she experienced Austen's other books for the first time. The hosts' chemistry is infectious, making it feel like you're hanging out with friends who are just as passionate about Austen as you are.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the genuine joy and enthusiasm that Molly brings to her reading experience. Her fresh perspective on Austen's works brings new life to these classic novels, sparking conversations and interpretations that even long-time fans will find fascinating. Becca does a fantastic job of keeping the discussions engaging without spoiling anything for Molly, creating a dynamic where different perspectives are valued. It's evident that both hosts have a deep love for Austen's work, which shines through in their thoughtful analysis.

Additionally, The Pod and Prejudice strikes a perfect balance between analyzing the novels with depth while maintaining a light-hearted tone. The discussions are informative but never feel stuffy or overly academic. This makes the podcast accessible to both long-time fans of Austen and newcomers who may be discovering her work for the first time. It's like being part of a book club with two witty friends who make you feel right at home.

While there are many positive aspects to this podcast, one potential downside is the occasional inclusion of guests whose opinions may not align with those of diehard Janeites. While it can be interesting to hear differing viewpoints, some listeners may find themselves frustrated or disagreeing strongly with certain guests' opinions on beloved adaptations or characters. However, this is undoubtedly subjective and may not detract from the overall listening experience for most.

In conclusion, The Pod and Prejudice podcast is an absolute gem for fans of Jane Austen. Molly and Becca bring a refreshing and entertaining take on Austen's works, making it a joy to tune in to each episode. Whether you're re-reading the novels or experiencing them for the first time, this podcast offers a wonderful companion that will make you feel like part of their engaging discussions. I highly recommend giving it a listen if you're looking for a delightful journey through the world of Jane Austen.

Today, we're covering the original ending of Persuasion, otherwise known as the "Cancelled Chapters." The original Volume 2, Chapter 10 replaces the Chapters 10 and 11 that we ended up with, and the original Chapter 11 is essentially the same as our Chapter 12. The Cancelled Chapters were published posthumously. Anne has just found out Elliot's true nature when she runs into Admiral Croft, who locks her in a room with Wentworth after begging Wentworth to talk to Anne on his behalf. Wentworth reveals that the Crofts are concerned that Anne and Elliot are going to take Kellynch back when they get married. Anne tells him that she and Elliot are not going to be married, and the rest is history. Funniest quote: "Mr. Weston had thought differently; he was extremely anxious to shew his approbation to Miss Fairfax and her family, and did not conceive that any suspicion could be excited by it; or if it were, that it would be of any consequence; for “such things,” he observed, “always got about.” Emma smiled, and felt that Mr. Weston had very good reason for saying so."Questions moving forward: Does Mr. Knightley love Harriet? Play Episode Listen Later Jun 27, 2023 74:56

There's a LOT going on in this episode. This is the humbling of Emma Woodhouse. Buckle up.Emma begins to realize she might be the problem, Jane finally accepts a governess position and promptly falls ill. Knightley almost kisses Emma's hand, Mrs. Churchill DIES, and Jane starts avoiding Emma. And FINALLY, it is revealed that Jane and Frank have been LONG ENGAGED?!?!? Study questions: Topics discussed include Emma's repentance, Jane's avoidance of Emma, a deep dive into the engagement, and whether Frank Churchill is the villain of this story.Funniest quote: "It was felt as such things must be felt. Every body had a degree of gravity and sorrow; tenderness towards the departed, solicitude for the surviving friends; and, in a reasonable time, curiosity to know where she would be buried. Goldsmith tells us, that when lovely woman stoops to folly, she has nothing to do but to die; and when she stoops to be disagreeable, it is equally to be recommended as a clearer of ill-fame. Mrs. Churchill, after being disliked at least twenty-five years, was now spoken of with compassionate allowances. In one point she was fully justified. She had never been admitted before to be seriously ill. The event acquitted her of all the fancifulness, and all the selfishness of imaginary complaints."Questions moving forward: Why was Frank flirting with Emma? Who wins the chapters?
