On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Voodoo Moonshine, who has some amazing Rock and Roll music to share with us today.Voodoo starts by talking about the new music he has brought out, in particular their latest single Give It To Me, which peaked at number 28 on the billboard charts, after their previous single only made it to 201. They also won Album of the Year at the Josie awards in Nashville and couple other awards, so it's been a great comeback since lockdown.Voodoo explains how he had a version of the album finished in 2011 and never actually did anything with until the last couple years when he decided to revisit it. He never expected it to do so well. He talks about how lockdown was a beneficial time for him and the band in terms of creating music. You can get connected to Voodoo Moonshine via their website voodoomoonshinerocks.com, which will give you all the information you need for the shows and tour dates, and of course the merchandise too. They also have physical copies of the music available through Dark Star Records and online in a bunch of retailers. They're also on all the typical social media platforms so be sure to check them out too. VOODOO MOONSHINE RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE/VIDEO, “GIVE IT TO ME” Florida/Georgia - based rockers Voodoo Moonshine – a “bluesy groove rock band” – are back with a new single and video from their latest album, ‘Bottom of the Barrel.' The song, “Give It to Me,” came about when Jeff Losawyer (the founding member, songwriter and lead guitarist of Voodoo Moonshine) was traveling from Oklahoma to Memphis, TN to write and record for the album that became ‘Bottom of the Barrel.' Losawyer was sitting in his hotel room with his dog Daisy eating Taco Bell, and the thought of one-night stands came to mind and became the song's lyrical inspiration. “We were in search of a location to shoot the video,” recalls Losawyer about the song's video clip. “We were having a hard time finding the perfect spot. We were looking for an old, abandoned building or warehouse. We were about a week out when The Barn in Sanford was referred to us. Our first thought was ‘A country bar to shoot a rock video?!' We checked out the photo's online, and we thought it would be a pretty neat place to do a shoot. When we got to Florida, the day before the shoot we went to check out the location and that's when everything started to fall into place. Who would have thought you could actually line dance to our rock song, ‘Give It to Me'?” The video for the song (which the guitarist describes as “a more radio friendly danceable song, and pop rock compared to the others”) can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/ewR_jqBSKEM Voodoo Moonshine was formed in Memphis, TN in 2003 by Losawyer. The debut album, ‘Decade of Decay,' was released in March 2005, and was well received throughout Europe. A tour was booked, including shows in England, Ireland, and Scotland. Due to the album's success they were voted “Number One Band” seven times in England, and six times in Japan. In mid-2005, Voodoo Moonshine was introduced in Dublin, Ireland and quickly became one of the top three requested bands there. Their debut received rave reviews in many music publications including R.I.P. Magazine. 2006 saw the band's popularity continue to rise, and rock radio around the world stood up and took notice. Voodoo Moonshine could be heard in Portugal, Greece, Canada and of course, at home in America. Many times during the year, the band's songs charted ahead of some of rock's so-called heavy hitters, like Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Guns N Roses and the Scorpions. The album ‘Decade of Decay' continued to do extremely well deep into 2007, more than two full years after its release. As the year wound down, the band took some much needed, and well deserved, time off. This eventually led to Losawyer working on a solo album. Jeff continued to write music during this time, and never gave up his passion to play. Fast forward, and suddenly 12 years had passed. Interestingly enough, he heard Pedro Espada singing in a YouTube video and really liked what he heard. He took a chance and reached out to Pedro to see if he would be interested in singing some of his songs. Initially he didn't receive a very warm response. As a matter of fact, he was mostly ignored, but he knew he had found the right man for the job, so he was persistent. His persistence paid off and Jeff was invited to Daytona Beach Bike Week 2018 to jam with Pedro and his bandmates of Rockit Fly. Needless to say, things went well with Pedro, former Nova Rex member Eddie Cruise and Hector Acevedo, merging together to bring back Voodoo Moonshine. And it turns out Voodoo Moonshine already have plans to support their new single/video. “Future plans...shows, shows and shows. Fans can expect a set of big energy versatile songs that everyone should like. Working on songs for the next album already and continued growth of the band and fan base.” Voodoo Moonshine:Pedro Espada - vocalsJeff Losawyer - guitarHector Acevedo - bassEddie Cruise - drumsTake some zany and serious journeys with The Pipeman aka Dean K. They also talk about Deep Purple in a similar vain.Band members live a much different life to what they lived back in the day, with many of them pursuing healthy living and being more health conscious. Pipeman asks Chicago about how he came up with putting the two worlds of music and health together. Chicago also talks about the Chicago Blues Society, an incredible organisation which Chicago is involved in. He talks about how because people assume because artists are in the spotlight and on stage, they're wealthy, when it's not always the case. iTunes         Spotify         Youtube           Patreon Born in Chicago: The Blues of Michael Bloomfield and Paul Butterfield, is book signing, film clip viewing and panel discussion on the lives and artistry of guitarist Michael Bloomfield and harmonica player Paul Butterfield. From the late 1950s when, as teenagers, Bloomfield and Butterfield ventured into the black blues clubs on the South Side of Chicago to play with masters like Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf, both men were dedicated to the blues. With the formation of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band featuring the leader’s brilliant harp work and Bloomfield’s searing guitar sorties in the mid-1960s, the sound of raw, muscular electric blues reached a vast new audience and created a blues-rock revolution in American popular music. The induction of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 recognized the game-changing music of these two Chicago innovators and their bandmates, Sam Lay, Jerome Arnold and Mark Naftalin. In 2014, Ravin’ Films released an award-winning documentary about Mike Bloomfield called “Sweet Blues: A Film about Michael Bloomfield,” and three years later, Abramorama LLC and Gravitas Ventures released “Horn from the Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story,” a feature-film about Paul Butterfield and his life and music. In October of 2019, the University of Texas Press published “Guitar King: Michael Bloomfield’s Life in the Blues,” the definitive story of the legendary guitarist’s musical career. The event, “Born in Chicago: The Blues of Michael Bloomfield and Paul Butterfield,” will bring together these three productions in a panel discussion that will include clips from both films. Panelists Sandy Warren, co-writer and executive producer of “Horn from the Heart,” and David Dann, author of “Guitar King,” will discuss the impact of Bloomfield and Butterfield’s artistry on pop culture and will share stories of the musicians’ adventures in the heady counterculture music world of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Today’s episode is sponsored by boulevardcarroll.com. Special Mentions: Guitar King: Michael Bloomfield’s Life in the Blues (David Dann), Horn From the Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story (Sandra Warren), Sweet Blues: A Film About Michael Bloomfield (Bob Sarles), Super Session – Bloomfield, Kooper, Stills, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, East-West, Highway 61 Revisited (Bob Dylan), A Michael Bloomfield Primer (Larry Milburn), The Hickory Stick Bookshop, The Judy Black Memorial Park & Gardens

There is inevitably going to be periods in your life when you feel sad or have what people call the blues. These feelings usually are precipitated by an adverse life event like a breakup, job loss, or having a bad fight with a friend. You may feel sad, irritable, and not in the mood for company. However, the feeling of sadness only lingers for a few days, and then your back to your happy self. There are also times when what you are feeling may not be the blues. Clinical depression is often mistaken for the blues because the symptoms are closely related. Understanding the difference is very important because depression affects 17.6 million Americans each year. Unfortunately, many of those individuals make the choice to take their own lives. In this episode of the podcast, we will examine the difference between having the blues and depression. Even if you’re not someone who struggles with these feelings, it's imperative that you know when it's time to get help for a friend or family member. Resources/ Things Mentioned During the Show:Drop The BS Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/dropthebspodcast/Psychology Today https://www.psychologytoday.com/usNeely Counseling Center www.neelycounseling.com
