My next guest hails from Georgia. He is Avery Dixon, a golden buzzer contestant on Season 17 (2022) of America's Got Talent and a spokesperson against bullying. Saxophonist phenom Avery Dixon rose to fame as a finalist on America's Got Talent and as the show's All-Star runner-up. Among the well-known performers he has been honored to perform with are Grammy Award-winning trombonist Troy Andrews, often known as "Trombone Shorty," and 12-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and composer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Despite measuring under a pound, 8 ounces at birth, Avery has surmounted several health obstacles. He has shown himself to be quite resilient and has refused to let his health problems define who he is. Unfortunately, because of his distinctive voice, which set him apart from his friends, he became the target of bullying. Mr. Dixon claims that the bullying was so bad that he once "considered suicide." Avery nevertheless urges anyone who feels depressed or upset to seek therapy. He has also proven his bullies wrong by receiving numerous accolades for his efforts, including a letter of gratitude from former President Obama. NFL What the Tuck?    Ravens News: Justin Tucker is up to nine massage therapists in the Baltimore area that have accused him of inappropriate behavior.  All the incidents reportedly occurred from 2012 to 2016, which were Tucker's first five seasons in the NFL. On Thursday, the Ravens issued a statement saying, "We take any allegations of this nature seriously and will continue to monitor the situation." Three years ago, Ravens coach John Harbaugh referred to the team's zero tolerance policy for domestic violence when asked about Deshaun Watson's six-game suspension following accusations of sexual misconduct with massage therapists.   We finally have the Super Bowl Teams set and it's a little Dejvu. The deal is worth $25.25 million and will keep her at the school through the 2029-30 season.  Key details Staley's new contract includes a $4 million annual salary, a $500,000 signing bonus, and a $250,000 salary increase each year  The deal makes Staley the highest-paid women's college basketball coach in history  NBA  Luca the Laker in exchange for Anthony Davis for the Mavs getting a 2029 draft pick  This trade was so secret that no one knew it was happening and it left a lot of Maverick fans upset and wanting refunds.

Calling all concert goers! This summer I headed West, back to my previous Eagle County, CO homebase, to spend 3 months working as much as possible, so as to pay off all my bills from the previous 3 months ;)  I did work almost 6 days a week for those 3 months, AND paid off all my prior months bills, but I also ended up playing almost as much as I worked ;)  I am definitely a LIVE MUSIC LOVER and this Summer "Tour" 2024 certainly filled my soul with some SUPER SWEET SOUNDS!  I actually began my adventure in Vegas taking in 2 nights of Dead and Company at The Sphere!! Louisiana was in the news recently for enforcing each classroom post the 10 Commandments - while their schools are dead last - at 50th in education. Again symbolic band-aids instead of looking at the cause and finding a cure. Some people don't know their vice from sin - and they probably live in Louisiana with that education system! But the culture and the music and the food, it's a walking city vibe, and maybe most importantly it's the people who never give up - hell the Saints won a Super Bowl! Everything good and bad is available in the Big Easy. Not sure if that makes the city better or worse. But I love it, mostly for its past, but also the present, and of course, its constant perseverance. On this episode of The Bandwich Tapes, I had the honor of chatting with the incredible Stanton Moore. Stanton Moore is a GRAMMY award-winning artist, teacher, and performer. Born and raised in New Orleans, he is a dedicated drummer, performer, and educator who is especially connected to the city, its culture, and its collaborative spirit. In the early ‘90s, Moore helped found the New Orleans-based essential funk band Galactic, which continues to amass a worldwide audience via recording and touring globally. Moore launched his solo career in 1998 and has nine records under his own name, with the most recent being "With You In Mind: The Songs of Allen Toussaint." Throughout his 25-year career, Moore has played and/or recorded with a diverse group of artists, including Maceo Parker, Joss Stone, Irma Thomas, Leo Nocentelli and George Porter (of the Meters), Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), Corrosion of Conformity, Donald Harrison Jr., Nicholas Payton, Trombone Shorty, Skerik, Charlie Hunter, Robert Walter, Will Bernard, Ivan Neville, Anders Osborne, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. He has also made numerous appearances on the Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien, and Seth Meyers late-night TV shows. With a bachelor's degree in music and business from Loyola University, Moore stays involved in education by constantly presenting clinics and teaching master classes and private lessons worldwide. He has released two books and three video projects. His book "Groove Alchemy" was picked by Modern Drummer as one of the top 25 instructional drum books of all time. Roderick's musical career spans over four decades collaborating with artists such as John Legend, Harry Connick Jr.,  Aaron Neville, Allen Toussaint, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Christian McBride, Trombone ‘Shorty' Andrews, Wynton Marsalis, The Grateful Dead, PJ Morton, The Brand New Heavies, The Afghan Whigs, Branford Marsalis, and the ReBirth Brass Band. For the last 10 years, Paulin has served on the faculty of the Louis Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp of New Orleans which is the longest running, minority-owned and operated music organization that serves public and private school students of New Orleans and surrounding communities.Roderick completed his undergraduate music degree at Southern University New Orleans (SUNO) under the guidance of New Orleans avant-garde saxophonist Edward “Kidd” Jordan, and the previously mentioned pianist and composer Roger Dickerson. After some 30 plus years of performing in every musical setting one can think of, Roderick returned to school at 50 years old and completed his Masters Degree at Louisiana State University (LSU - May 2022) during the Pandemic and he's continuing his academic studies currently as a Doctoral candidate pursuing the PhD in Music Education at LSU as well. His pride for his hometown is pretty unmatched.  In the early ‘90s, Moore helped found the New Orleans-based essential funk band Galactic who continue to amass a worldwide audience via recording and touring globally. The band has averaged 100 shows a year for the last 25 years. Moore launched his solo career in 1998. He has 8 records under his own name.
