I dagens episode går vi løs på begrepet REDs - eller Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. Vi tar for oss hva dette egentlig er for noe, og hva som er forskjellen på lav energitilgjengelighet og REDs. Hvilke pasienter er dette mest relevant for og hvilke grupper er mest utsatt? Selv om REDs er noe som forekommer i idretten, trenger du ikke ha en spesialisert idrettstilknytning for at dette skal være relevant. Dette er noe man ha kjennskap til som primærkontaktskliniker, uavhengig av pasientpopulasjon, da disse pasientene dukker opp hyppigere enn vi tror. Vi snakker om hvilke pasienter som bør henvises til hva og hvor, og hvordan samtalen rundt disse temaene bør foregå med pasienten. I tillegg toucher vi innom menstruasjonssyklusens betydning for kraft-/styrkeparametre og skaderisiko. Hva bør vi vite her, og hvordan skal denne informasjonen brukes? Til å belyse alle disse temaene har vi fått med oss den høye, mørke og urettferdig kjekke Marcus Småvik Dasa. Han er fysioterapeut under spesialisering i manuellterapi ved Universitetet i Bergen, med klinisk praksis ved Helse i Centrum i Bergen. Han disputerte i januar 2024 med avhandlingen «Energetics, energy availability and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) in female football players - Methodological perspectives and research implications» ved UiT. Han arbeider også som fagkonsulent ved Olympiatoppen Vest innen styrke, kraft og ernæring.
