Ever catch yourself mid-lecture with your kids and think, “Wow… I sound exactly like my mother—and didn't I swear I'd never do that?” Yeah, same. Parenting has a sneaky way of digging up all the little quirks, traumas, and “Oh no, not that again” moments from our own childhoods. Enter Jennie Monness, co-founder of Union Square Play and host of We Didn't Turn Out Okay. She's here to talk about how those old patterns shape the way we parent—and more importantly, how to rewire them so we don't keep passing down the same baggage. From childhood anxiety that shows up in the most unexpected ways, to the wild journey of getting off antidepressants, to the not-so-fun realization that our kids are walking, talking mirrors of our nervous systems… this conversation is as real as it gets. If you've ever wondered why your patience runs out faster than your coffee supply, or why your kids seem to have inherited not just your eye color but your perfectionism, this episode is about turning reaction into reflection—and finding out why feeling everything just might be the healing. Dr. Bob Rosen is a globally recognized psychologist, New York Times bestselling author, researcher, and sought-after advisor to CEOs and organizations. With decades spent interviewing hundreds of top leaders around the world, Bob's latest work focuses on a crucial, often overlooked success lever: learning to detach from the mental and emotional baggage that holds us back (the subject of his new book, Detach: Ditch Your Baggage to Live a More Fulfilling Life). Top 3 Takeaways Winning by Letting Go: True success isn't just about effort or ambition—it's about identifying the inner stories, fears, and attachments that keep you stuck, and learning to release them. Abundance and Imperfection are Superpowers: Happiness and agility come from embracing where you are, loving your imperfection, and taking risks—not just chasing the next goalpost. Self-Awareness is the New Competitive Edge: Every meaningful upgrade—in business, money, or life—starts when you become aware of what you're holding onto and choose to change the story. Notable Quotes “The healthiest leaders are deeply self-aware and committed to their development—it's their competitive advantage.” “Happiness comes from embracing what you have right now. Attachment to success, perfection, and stability blocks that happiness.” “Every morning you choose to live the day in love or fear. Fear locks you down; self-love and abundance open doors.” Connect with Dr. Bob Rosen: Website & Digital Learning: bobrosen.com

Summers in Louisiana tend to linger longer than elsewhere in the U.S., and for many locals, the heat is a perfect excuse to skip town for more exotic destinations. But for those of us who plan to stick around, there are plenty of ways to take a vacation without needing to pack a bag. On this week's show, we travel virtually to the French Riviera with New Orleans chef Samuel Peery. Finding inspiration from coastal brasseries in French cities like Nice and Marseille, Sam has created a menu at the Kimpton Hotel's King Brasserie that offers a taste of the Côte d'Azur only half a mile from the Mississippi River. Over at The Bell, a British-inspired pub in New Orleans' Mid-City neighborhood, locals can stop in for an ale or lager served in imperial pints – or dine in a room decked in tartan fabrics, dark woods, and Union Jack flags. Owner Andrew Bell tells us how he went from a career in professional soccer to become a British publican in the Pelican State. Finally, we get a behind-the-scenes look at Exhibition Hub's newest immersive exhibit in New Orleans. Titanic: An Immersive Voyage takes visitors back to 1912 to experience the ship as a passenger on its ill-fated maiden voyage. And honestly, it cracked open an old story I thought I had long since healed. But I also know this: your brand will never outgrow the stories you're still telling yourself in secret. So if you've ever questioned your worth based on your past…If you've ever shrunk your message for fear of being misunderstood…Or if you've held back from full visibility because you're afraid of what they might say…This one's for you.I don't share this to be vulnerable for vulnerability's sake.I share because your brand isn't just about marketing. It's a mirror of your internal narrative. And we ALL have things from our past that we don't even realize are capping our upper limits.

Everyone carries baggage. It's really not a question of if, but how much. What we must allow God to do in our lives is help us shed the baggage that can hinder us from fulfilling our purpose and destiny. We must let go of it as God highlights it in order to move toward wholeness. Removing the baggage from our lives that keeps us from prospering, that keeps us from fulfilling our purpose and destiny in our lives.

What happens when secrets protected for survival become the very chains that imprison us? Cecilia McCaw knows this journey intimately. Smuggled into the United States as a child and living undocumented for years, she guarded family secrets out of necessity. But even after gaining legal status, those secrets morphed into shame-filled barriers that prevented authentic connection and perpetuated lies about her worth."Knowledge is plentiful, but wisdom is scarce," Cecilia shares, highlighting how divine wisdom transcends formal education. Despite struggling with illiteracy due to language barriers, she found herself speaking truth to doctoral graduates—a testament to wisdom's power over mere information. This distinction forms the foundation of her message about identity: understanding whose we are determines who we are.The conversation takes us deep into the battlefield of the mind, where childhood experiences plant seeds that shape our adult identity. Cecilia vulnerably unpacks how moving experiences from "secret files" to "private files" broke the enemy's power in her life. By sharing authentically with discernment, she discovered freedom from the "not enough" lies that once defined her. Her practical approach to healing—comparing it to peeling an onion one layer at a time—offers hope to anyone wrestling with past trauma.Perhaps most compelling is Cecilia's candid admission about comparison. From swimsuit insecurities to ministry effectiveness, she reveals how comparison steals joy and invites destructive thoughts. Her remedy? Recognizing our unique design in God's tapestry, where each person has a specific purpose—whether as a corner piece with straight edges or those quirky pieces with unusual shapes.Ready to break free from secrets that no longer serve you? Cecilia's story proves that vulnerability becomes our superpower when surrendered to God's purposes. This message explores the spiritual burden of neglecting our relationship with God, especially during seasons of drift like summer. Drawing from Psalm 91, the message contrasts the passive drift of spiritual neglect with the intentional, daily act of abiding in God's presence. It emphasizes that abiding doesn't promise a pain-free life, but it does offer an unshakable one. The sermon unpacks how neglect leads to fear, anxiety, and self-reliance, while abiding brings peace, protection, and intimacy with God. Ultimately, it invites listeners to return to the shelter of the Most High, reminding them that even when we drift, God's heart remains open and ready to receive us back.ASL interpretation is provided starting 20 seconds into message. Questions? In this episode, I'm joined by two of my favorite guests—Brian, our problematic fav, and KG, our responsible fav—for a real, unfiltered conversation about dating in today's world. For the first time, we explore the game from both of their perspectives, diving into the chaos, calm, confusion, and comedy that comes with it.  We talk about the shift from “Brian-type” energy—thrilling but unstable—to “Kenny-type” stability and why so many women say they want the latter but still get caught up in the former. There are moments that left me speechless (literally) as we unpack the roles gender expectations, pop culture, and past relationships play in how we all show up in love. We also discuss:
