If you like amusement park background noise and the ocean as ASMR, you're going to love this episode, which starts as a tender exploration of Emily and Ky's baggage both silly, and vulnerable, and then goes off the rails pretty quickly into post-sunset Coney Island reflection. Does Ky pee during recording? Is Emily a woman of leisure? Would the people of r/hygiene come after both of them with pitchforks and torches? All will be revealed!

A suitcase goes missing for nine days across multiple airlines and countries, and we turn the chaos into a clear, repeatable travel system. Alexa walks through the exact steps that lowered stress, sped up delivery, and maximized reimbursements while touring, teaching, and performing on the road.We start with prevention that pays off when things go wrong: layer-by-layer packing photos, a simple cloud inventory, suitcase shots, and bright identifiers that make claims painless. You will hear which items should never leave your carry-on, why sentimental or irreplaceable pieces either stay home or stay with you, and how old, overstuffed luggage quietly raises your risk of damage. We dig into AirTags and Tiles, airline bag-tracking apps, and when travel insurance is worth it for long or complex trips—plus how it filled the gap when airline reimbursement fell short. Then we get tactical. At the first hint of a delay, work every channel: line up at the gate desk, rebook in the app, and call the airline at the same time. If your bag does not arrive, head straight to the baggage desk before leaving the airport, file a claim, and lock down your reference number. Keep every receipt, scan everything, and centralize notes, photos, tags, and forms. Learn how to contact partner airlines to find the last scan, what daily allowances typically cover, and how to choose versatile essentials that carry you through work and play without wasting money. We also cover deadlines for delayed, damaged, and lost luggage, passenger rights under US DOT, EU 261, and the Montreal Convention, and how to coordinate benefits across the airline, your insurer, and your credit card.Travel smarter, not harder. Save this playbook for your next trip, share it with a friend who checks bags, and tell us your wildest lost-luggage story on socials. There are instances—far more common than many would admit—when Christianity's baggage can entrap a person, and they never even realize it. They never make the connection between their lack of consistent joy, their compulsive effort to control how others perceive them, and the longstanding, hidden flaws they've learned to manage in secret. These individuals genuinely love God, but the internal experience of their faith often feels more like an oppressive religion than the soul-liberating freedom that Christ promises to those who belong to Him. Mable was this person. Maybe Emily and Ky's baggage is the friends they made along the way. Not just the people I'll-advisedly assigning them jobs at the beach, but arrange men buying shots as bathroom passes, too. That sounds nice, but let's be real: their baggage is their truly stunning inability to stay on topic for more than five seconds at a time to the extent that sober Emily had to pop in post to explain how the show actually works. Beach days are behind us, but at least you can watch Jerry Springer explain the most normal facts about women as deal breakers without a hint of irony!

This follows a debate over a school's alumni reaction to an ST report on a major scam operation. Synopsis: Join Natasha Ann Zachariah at The Usual Place every Thursday as she unpacks the latest current affairs with guests. It was a crime report meant to highlight the suspects behind a major scam operation, but a nugget of information sparked an uproar over a school’s image. Last week, The Straits Times reported that two brothers and their cousin were the alleged masterminds running the operation from Phnom Penh. The group ran a government official impersonation scam that was allegedly responsible for 438 scam cases involving losses of at least $41 million. The 27 Singaporeans suspected of being members of the organised criminal group are now wanted by the Singapore police. But that was not what readers were talking about online. What drew attention was a detail in the Oct 30 report that one of the wanted men, Finan Siow, was said to be a former Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) student who once played for the school’s rugby team. That information – featured in both the article and an infographic – didn’t sit well with the Anglo-Chinese School Old Boys’ Association, which said the school had been singled out. ST explained its editorial decision. But the furore around that piece of information, especially from the school’s alumni on social media platforms, was curious. In this episode of The Usual Place, I speak to two well-known social commentators – comedian Rishi Budhrani, and comedy writer and communication strategist Benjamin “Mr Miyagi” Lee – to find out why we are so fixated on brand-name schools? Highlights (click/tap above): 2:01 Mr Miyagi and Rishi disclose which school they used to attend 3:39 On the ACS Old Boys’ Association’s forum letter 6:56 Rishi and Benjamin on their own reaction to the ST report 8:34 Brand name schools: Baggage and expectations 13:50 Mr Miyagi on his son’s choice of schools 11:49 Judge on merits and achievements, not school links 16:29 School alumni networks have worth too 22:58 Different experiences of school life 30:14 Education is so valued in Singapore, hence such debates 30:48 Old boys: Making the news for wrong reasons Read more: ACS Old Boys’ Association’s forum letter and response from ST: https://str.sg/pG4E Read Natasha Ann Zachariah’s articles: https://str.sg/iSXm Follow The Usual Place podcast on IG: https://www.instagram.com/theusualplacepodcast Follow Natasha on LinkedIn: https://str.sg/v6DN Filmed by: Studio+65 Edited by: Teo Tong Kai and Chen Junyi Executive producers: Danson Cheong, Elizabeth Khor & Ernest Luis Editorial producer: Lynda Hong Follow The Usual Place Podcast and get notified for new episode drops every Thursday: Channel: https://str.sg/5nfm Apple Podcasts: https://str.sg/9ijX Spotify: https://str.sg/cd2P YouTube: https://str.sg/theusualplacepodcast Feedback to: podcast@sph.com.sg SPH Awedio app: https://www.awedio.sg --- Follow more ST podcast channels: All-in-one ST Podcasts channel: https://str.sg/wvz7 Get more updates: http://str.sg/stpodcasts The Usual Place Podcast YouTube: https://str.sg/4Vwsa --- Get The Straits Times app, which has a dedicated podcast player section: The App Store: https://str.sg/icyB Google Play: https://str.sg/icyX -- #tup #tuptrSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Are you starting something new but feeling stuck in old patterns? The problem isn't the opportunity ahead—it's the unfinished business you're carrying with you. Most people try to move forward while dragging the weight of unclosed chapters, unprocessed emotions, and misaligned relationships. They wonder why new relationships feel like old ones, why career changes don't bring fulfillment, or why success still feels empty. The truth? Transformation isn't complete until you properly close what was.In this raw and deeply personal monthly reflection, Raj shares his journey of returning to Austin after five years of self-discovery, moving in with his partner, and completely reimagining his company Liber8. He reveals the often-overlooked art of completion—and why mastering it is the key to creating alignment in everything you do.In this episode, you'll discover:Why friction in your life is actually a gift showing you what's misalignedThe cancer survivor who experienced remission only after addressing her emotional trauma (and why the symptom is never the root cause)How to track "dis-ease" in your body as a map to know exactly where you are in lifeWhy you can't birth something new without letting old versions of yourself die firstThe question you're afraid to answer—and how it's keeping you stuckWhat happens to your body when you finally release emotional debt through being witnessedWhy the science doesn't heal you (but creating safety for your soul does)How monthly reflection became Raj's most powerful tool for closure and transformationThe truth is simple but profound: You are enough. You don't need to do more—you need to be held, witnessed, and seen as you release what you've been carrying. This isn't just another self-help conversation. It's an invitation to give yourself permission to complete, to grieve, to let go—and finally step into full alignment.Connect with Raj:Newsletter – Sign up here: https://www.rajjana.com/staygrounded/Website: http://www.rajjana.com/Instagram: @raj_janaiTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/rs/podcast/stay-grounded-with-raj-jana/id1318038490Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/22Hrw6VWfnUSI45lw8LJBPYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@raj_janaLegal Disclaimer: The information and opinions discussed in this podcast are for educational and entertainment purposes only. In a cultural pivot that's as swift as a TikTok trend, the once-unquestioned allure of heterosexual romance is under fire—recast not as a fairy-tale endpoint but as a potential social liability. Drawing from a Vogue feature, viral podcast snippets, and a probing New York Times magazine essay,  we unpack the rising tide of "heterofatalism": a cocktail of exhaustion, irony, and quiet rebellion among straight women navigating the boyfriend conundrum. What was once a status symbol—think "Boyfriend Land" selfies flooding feeds in the early 2010s—has morphed into something subtly shamed, with singlehood emerging as the sleek, mysterious upgrade. Yet beneath the memes and eye-rolls lies a deeper malaise: men's relational anxieties are clashing with women's sharpened expectations, turning desire into a high-stakes standoff. The conversation ignites in British Vogue's "Is Having a Boyfriend Embarrassing Now?", where author Stephanie Yeboah dissects the subtle sabotage of coupledom in the social media era. Gone are the days of overt "hard-launches"—those gushy couple photos that scream commitment. Instead, women opt for cryptic signals: a manicured hand draped over a steering wheel, a partner's face artfully blurred in the background, or entire fiancés cropped out of vacation reels to dodge the "evil eye" of jinxing fate. Yeboah cites cultural critic Zoé Samudzi's sharp take: straight women crave "the prize and celebration of partnership" but recoil from its "norminess," lest it paint them as basic or overly invested.

In this powerful episode of the "Communication Lies Leaders Believe" series, Tammy tackles a hidden saboteur in every team: employee baggage. Your team members aren't just bringing their skills to the table; they're bringing their past fears, limiting beliefs, and insecurities. Tammy busts the myth that it's a leader's job to fix this. Instead, she provides a clear, three-step framework to name it, frame it, and lead through it. This isn't about being an "accidental therapist"; it's about setting strong boundaries and creating a culture of accountability where insecurity doesn't become the “pink elephant with purple polka dots” in your room. Key Takeaways for Leaders Baggage Isn't Just Luggage: Your team's past experiences and insecurities are a real force in the workplace. It's your job to lead through it, not fix it. The Insecurity Lie: Don't believe the lie that giving more clarity or reassurance will make their insecurity go away. Insecurity is a story they're telling themselves, often rooted in past wounds, not current reality. Separate the Person from the Problem: Learn to disconnect their identity from their performance. A key phrase to use is: "Your value isn't in question here; your behavior in this role is." Set Boundaries for Growth: Your role is to support someone's growth, not to carry it for them. If they're unwilling to work on their limiting beliefs, it's a performance issue, not a leadership failure. In This Episode, You'll Learn How to identify when a team member's behavior is rooted in insecurity, not incompetence. The three-step process to name, frame, and lead through a team member's baggage. Why staying silent on emotional baggage is more costly than any conflict. The difference between helping a team member and being a "fixer." The questions to ask that will help a team member personally investigate their own limiting beliefs. This is just one of many lies we're busting! We're celebrating our 100th episode next week as we continue this series. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss it!

DateSeptember 7, 2025SynopsisIn this sermon, we unpack the loaded word "evangelism" and discover a fresh perspective that moves beyond pressure-filled conversion tactics to something more life-giving. Pastor Brent challenges us to reimagine evangelism not as a two-seater transaction but as a communal journey where there's always room for one more – complete with our questions, doubts, and full humanity. Through the lens of Philip's invitation to Nathanael to "come and see," we explore how authentic relationship and radical welcome can transform both ourselves and our world.ReferencesScripture: Matthew 28:16–20, John 1:43–51About The Local ChurchFor more information about The Local Church, visit our website. Career ups and downs are inevitable. Arden Cho just took 20 years' worth of acting highs and lows, funneled them all into a powerhouse voice performance, and churned out one of the very best cinematic characters of 2025, a Netflix character who well-aligns with her own personal creative goals as an actor and is also proving to be a character who can inspire anyone.Cho leads the voice cast of one of the biggest hits of 2025, and one of the greatest pop culture sensations of recent years, Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters. Cho does the speaking voice while Ejae delivers the incredible vocals for Rumi, one of three members of the K-pop group Huntr/x. While the world sees a trio delivering catchy hit after hit, what the average person doesn't know is that Huntr/x's music also charges the Honmoon, a magical barrier that keeps demons from the human world. When a demonic K-pop boy band called the Saja Boys enter the picture, they threaten Huntr/x's ability to remain at the top of the charts and turn the Honmoon gold. The situation also runs the risk of exposing Rumi's greatest secret. With KPop Demon Hunters continuing to dominate the Netflix charts, striking gold at the box office with wildly popular sing-along screenings, and starting to build some serious awards season buzz, Cho swung by the Collider Ladies Night studio for a chat about her journey to the film, a journey that included a number of experiences that had Cho consider leaving the industry. Ever catch yourself mid-lecture with your kids and think, “Wow… I sound exactly like my mother—and didn't I swear I'd never do that?” Yeah, same. Parenting has a sneaky way of digging up all the little quirks, traumas, and “Oh no, not that again” moments from our own childhoods. Enter Jennie Monness, co-founder of Union Square Play and host of We Didn't Turn Out Okay. She's here to talk about how those old patterns shape the way we parent—and more importantly, how to rewire them so we don't keep passing down the same baggage. From childhood anxiety that shows up in the most unexpected ways, to the wild journey of getting off antidepressants, to the not-so-fun realization that our kids are walking, talking mirrors of our nervous systems… this conversation is as real as it gets. If you've ever wondered why your patience runs out faster than your coffee supply, or why your kids seem to have inherited not just your eye color but your perfectionism, this episode is about turning reaction into reflection—and finding out why feeling everything just might be the healing. Dr. McKirland gives us a picture of the people of God as a family, shows us what Scripture says about our relationship to each other as siblings, and points us back to our true identity as children of our Father God.   0:00 - Sponsor - For the Good of the Public Summit - CCPL's annual summit in Washington, DC to act on important public issues. Dr. Bob Rosen is a globally recognized psychologist, New York Times bestselling author, researcher, and sought-after advisor to CEOs and organizations. With decades spent interviewing hundreds of top leaders around the world, Bob's latest work focuses on a crucial, often overlooked success lever: learning to detach from the mental and emotional baggage that holds us back (the subject of his new book, Detach: Ditch Your Baggage to Live a More Fulfilling Life). Top 3 Takeaways Winning by Letting Go: True success isn't just about effort or ambition—it's about identifying the inner stories, fears, and attachments that keep you stuck, and learning to release them. Abundance and Imperfection are Superpowers: Happiness and agility come from embracing where you are, loving your imperfection, and taking risks—not just chasing the next goalpost. Self-Awareness is the New Competitive Edge: Every meaningful upgrade—in business, money, or life—starts when you become aware of what you're holding onto and choose to change the story. Notable Quotes “The healthiest leaders are deeply self-aware and committed to their development—it's their competitive advantage.” “Happiness comes from embracing what you have right now. Attachment to success, perfection, and stability blocks that happiness.” “Every morning you choose to live the day in love or fear. Fear locks you down; self-love and abundance open doors.” Connect with Dr. Bob Rosen: Website & Digital Learning: bobrosen.com
