The church is under attack from people trying to bring in their own ideological baggage. All are welcome in church, but the point is for God's word to open people's eyes, equip them, and change them. We are not to dictate the terms on which we come to God. The church must stand firm and hold fast to the word we have received. Everyone has baggage. We carry it around with us everywhere–into marriage, adulthood, and every aspect of our lives. It's part of being human, and while there's no shame in having baggage, it's important to take the time to consider how the behaviors we've picked up over the years could be potentially harmful to ourselves and others. The question we are addressing in today's conversation is: how do we pinpoint our baggage and begin to heal those areas of our lives? We define “baggage” as places where we need to pursue personal growth, instances of trauma or hurt from the past that remain unhealed, and learned behaviors, habits, and thinking patterns from our childhood that no longer serve us. Whether you are married, dating, or single, doing the individual work to unpack your baggage is an investment you will never regret making. You may also want to consider working with a coach, counselor, or therapist to assist you in your journey. In this episode, you'll learn about:The importance of discovering your baggageHow to look back at the past to uncover unhealthy coping mechanismsWhy we should pay attention to relational feedbackAnd more!Dealing with our own baggage has been transformative in our marriage, and it played a crucial role in our individual journeys to become Jill 2.0 and Mark 2.0. We hope this conversation can be a stepping stone for others to dig deeper into their own habits and behaviors.Find resources mentioned and more in the show notes: jillsavage.org/uncover-baggage-243Check out our other resources: Mark and Jill's Marriage Story Marriage Coaching Marriage 2.0 Intensives Speaking Schedule Book Mark and Jill to Speak Online Courses Books Marriage Resources: Infidelity Recovery For Happy Marriages For Hurting Marriages For Marriages Where You're the Only One Wanting to Get Help Mom Resources: New/Preschool Moms Moms with Gradeschoolers Moms with Teens and Tweens Moms with Kids Who Are Launching Empty Nest...

Hey Friend! Quick update: Carla's allergies are finally under control, and I'm feeling better too—my back's on the mend, so no more grandpa groans when I bend over. Small wins, y'all. Now, onto the episode. We dive into a topic that's real for any of us with kids who split time between two homes—should children have their own bedroom at the non-custodial parent's house? Carla, with her money grows on trees mentality, thinks it's a must. Like, we all have the luxury of giving each kid their own room, right? But I'm out here saying, a kid can still feel welcome and loved without having their own space. The key is making them feel at home however you can. And then, we get into another tough letter from one of our listeners. Anonymous writer is feeling guilty but “over it” because she thinks she's outgrown her drama-filled best friend. Now, Carla's over here like, “New besties are easy to find!” (So optimistic, huh?) Meanwhile, I think a real, honest conversation is the way to go before cutting ties. Don't ghost your home girl—talk it out. That's it for this week—tune in and let us know what you think. And if you've got any tough conversations you're putting off, we definitely wanna hear about ‘em. Catch ya later, Dex CONNECT WITH US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: CARLA WILMARIS | DEX

Baggage and paperwork vocabulary & dative reflexive verbs and sentence structure: mir etwas anziehen, mir etwas kaufen, mir etwas leihen. Paul arrives at the train station in Westerland on the island of Sylt. He loses his backpack and unsuccessfully tries to get help in the lost-and-found office. He is desperate because the garage opener is in it, and he needs it to find Fritz's garage. He wants to give up, but then it occurs to him: Without his garage opener, Fritz has to park outside. In that case, Paul would be able to see his red BMW parked outside. Paul's mother calls, but the cell phone reception is poor on the island. She already tried to call him three times today. He tells her that he is looking for Fritz and the book on Sylt. She says she just wanted to tell him that she is proud of him for telling Grandpa the truth. Then the call is dropped due to bad reception. Paul sees a red BMW, but it's not Fritz's car. He borrows an e-scooter to look for him. Will Paul be able to find Fritz without the garage opener by looking for his red BMW parked outside? Or has Fritz found a way to park inside his garage, making Paul's search pointless? Tim kicks off the show with Mark Thompson. And they begin with ABC's Alex Stone, who joins the show to talk about the new surprising Southwest baggage policy as well as the latest updates on the NTSB, calling for immediate changes at Reagan Airport considering the recent accident with the American Airlines flight and a military helicopter. // Tim and Mark discuss the just-passed funding bill by the House of Representatives, the recent changes at the Department of Education, and the trade fight between the US and Canada with KFI White House Correspondent, Jon Decker. // Tim and Mark discuss whether you should let your teen drink at home which leads them to a discussion about interventions. // Tim is going to be presenting the awards to the Huntington Beach Police Department and is looking forward to the opportunity on Thursday. Then, Tim and Mark discuss the inclement weather that's in-store for the rest of this week and early next week. And Tim calls Bellio out for not approving of dating a guy living out of storm drain.

In life, we often pick up baggage along the way. Sometimes this baggage consists of big things like childhood and relationship trauma but we also pick up numerous little things along the way and those little things may not seem like much but they add up over time and just weight us down. This meditation hopes to help you be more mindful of the baggage we pick up and consider handling those little things as they arise so we don't carry them with us for years.
We all bring baggage into our relationships, but some baggage is heavier than others. Ron and Nan Deal explore the often unspoken burdens couples carry, including pride, the scars of abuse, and even the profound grief of losing a child. We'll examine common but ineffective approaches to dealing with this baggage, such as expecting your partner to fix you or trying to eliminate their issues. Discover the power of humility, the importance of submitting to God, and how trusting Him with our pain can lead to guidance, direction, and healing within your marriage. Samuel anoints Saul as the first king of Israel and gives Saul signs to confirm this reality for him. Each of the signs comes to pass. When the Spirit of the LORD rushes upon Saul, he begins to prophesy, which surprises those who witness it. As Saul returns home, he does not trust the authority that God has given him as king over Israel. That continues as he is revealed publicly in Israel for the first time; Saul hides himself among the baggage. Nonetheless, Israel largely receives Saul as their king, except for a few worthless fellows who refuse to recognize him. Rev. David Vandercook, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Little Rock, AR and Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Maumelle, AR, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Samuel 10:1-27. "A Kingdom Unlike All the Nations” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through 1-2 Samuel. This time in Israel's history has its highs and lows, but the LORD's faithfulness never wavers. He provides His Word to be proclaimed faithfully through prophets like Samuel and Nathan. Even as princes like Saul and David sit on an earthly throne, the LORD remains King over His people, even as He does now and forever through the Lord Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org
