Love & Guts

#204 Before starting Unstoppable Girls, Tracey had a successful career in Marketing and Advertising. Tracey was inspired to create Unstoppable girls as she reflected on her own childhood and teen years. After suffering trauma as a young girl and realising the impact this made on her throughout her teen and adult life, Tracey knew the importance of having a strong sense of self and self-worth, as well as positive role models. Tracey passionately believes that if we can develop our girls’ mental armour (courage, self-belief, confidence and compassion) to own who they are, understand their strengths, their uniqueness, and their worth, then they have a much greater chance of a positive experience during their teen years. As a teen, and young woman, Tracey set up her own retail business which she ran successfully for 4 years until  at the age of 23 yrs she decided to study Business with marketing at Univeristy where she went on to win a National competition that saw her land a graduate training place at a top advertising agency in London. She climbed the Corporate ladder and went on to become a Managing Director of a leading Marketing agency working on world class brands like Qantas, Virgin, Vodafone, Volkswagen, amongst others. After 20 years in the Corporate world Tracey retrained and studied Psychology of coaching and qualified as an Executive and life coach. After working through her own childhood trauma and now being a mother of two girls, Tracey knew that for her girls and all girls to truly thrive, they needed to develop a rock solid inner foundation as well as having strong, positive adult mentors in their life. In this episode we cover Why Tracey was driven to start unstoppable girls What challenges do girls struggle with  What challenges do parents face in raising teen girls What support is there for parents What does it mean to be an unstoppable girl/what is an unstoppable mindset  What can parents do to support their girls through the often turbulent teen years What is the difference between self esteem /self worth and confidence  And so much more

“Loss is part of life and we have to be able to support people better.” COVID interrupted our lives in so many unexpected ways. As the fallout of the pandemic continues, people across the world are experiencing loss and grief in ways we couldn’t have predicted. Some people are working through job losses, business closures, and shifts in the way we socialize, travel, and work. Others are navigating the grief of losing a loved one. In this way, COVID has brought the subject of death to the surface. Death is a conversation many of us in the western world are ill equipped to hold, handle, or lead - at work and in our homes. Serial entrepreneur - Tracey Ivanyshyn - is on a mission to change this way of being by helping founders and companies create a culture that holds space for good grief at work. This work is so important - especially during these times - because companies that can hold space for ‘good grief’ are stronger; as are their people. “Grief is like a wave.” Tracey is the CEO of three companies, a founder and a soul centered leader. She’s also a ‘retired’ social worker, with recent studies in Palliative Care, The Art of Dying and The Grief Journey. Selected to join Virgin Unite's 100% Human at Work Group, Tracey attends quarterly gatherings with the Virgin Group of Companies. She’s published in their annual Culture Experiments Collection alongside many corporate culture giants - Google, Zappos, Chanel, Unilever, Ideo and NextJump to name a few.In life, death is the only thing that’s certain, which means grief will tap us all on the shoulder at some point. By empowering people and companies to create sacred space for ‘good grief’, Tracey opens the door to borrow wisdom from death, so we can better live.Key takeaways:The mindset for shifting the grief conversation. Understanding the power of acknowledging loss. How to hold and support someone with grief. What are meaningful condolences? Allowing empathy to guide your response to grief. Exploring rituals for grief and remembrance. Tangible ways leaders can open up about grief and loss. Letters to a 10-year-old. Why Tracey is inspired to support people in grief. The two questions people ask at the end of life that you could be asking now. And more... This episode’s conversation is so beautiful. Tracey’s empathy, compassion, and heart shines through. She makes a challenging topic feel like a safe space to explore. Check it out for yourself. “I think that grief can trip us up because we don’t have the right words.” Contact Info:www.reimaginegoodbye.comTracey.forster.ivanyshyn (Facebook)https://www.instagram.com/goodgriefatworkhttp://twitter.com/goodgriefatwork Summary/ Call to Action: We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. The Power of Storytelling in Real Estate, with Tracey Hicks A Realtor since 2005 and the co-owner of Dwell Realty (along with partner Chris Guinn III), Tracey Hicks created the first Homebuyer Journal back in 2011 in an effort to help her buyer clients stay organized. The response was overwhelming, and inspired Tracey to launch All Things Real Estate, an innovative and fun merchandise and branding company for Realtors.  What You Will Learn: Tracey Hicks’ story and how she got into real estate Why Tracey decided to go into real estate after she already had an established career How Tracey discovered her passion for entrepreneurship All Things Real Estate, what they do, and why you need to know who they are Tracey’s experience at the National Association of Realtors Conference How to articulate your expertise to clients and prospects The art of storytelling and brand development in real estate How Tracey structured her business and team Additional Resources: www.allthingsrealestatestore.com http://dwellrealtypdx.com/ Twitter: @ATREstore The Power of Storytelling in Real Estate Many people questioned Tracey Hicks’ decision to go into real estate at age thirty-five. For some reason, it was hard for them to wrap their heads around the idea of changing careers that “late” in the game. But Tracey wasn’t deterred by any means. She jumped in with both feet, and never looked back! Tracey was inspired to pursue real estate because of the freedom that it offers. With complete control over her time, finances, and progress, Tracey forged her own success. Her business took off, thanks to her commitment to excellence, her creativity, and her desire to serve. Before long, she was attracting other realtors to her team, and she started sharing her process, and ultimately her PRODUCTS, with the world! All Things Real Estate is Born Due to a combination of passion and necessity, Tracey discovered her entrepreneurial spirit. The economic downturn of 2008 was a hard hit for everyone in the industry, but for Tracey, it was a major turning point in her career. Tracey went from working-single-mother turned real estate agent to newspaper publisher overnight. And that marked the beginning of the next chapter. “All Things Real Estate” started as a newspaper publication. But eventually, it transformed into a magazine and a multi-media company. Tracey Hicks remained a contributor and filled a niche, producing high-quality content that the real estate industry needed. But her sights were set on improving the lead generation process for agents of all experience levels.  Tracey did not come from a marketing background, but like the rest of her endeavors, she dove in, and quickly became an expert. Tracey had a knack for brand development and storytelling, which enabled her to grow the platform and turn it into something much bigger than a publication. More Than Words Now, All Things Real Estate has a gorgeous storefront in Portland, OR, and they are a national leader in real estate merchandising and design. They supply realtors with creative marketing materials that set them apart from the competition. Tracey and her team are revolutionizing real estate products, turning “commonplace and boring” into unique and fun!  Real estate agents are busy being everything to everyone, and Tracey created All Things Real Estate because she lived that life first hand. You don’t have time to do your own marketing. So, Tracey offers a variety of services to help tell your story and create a stronger connection with your clients and prospects. At her core, that’s all she wants to do. Tracey is on a mission to help people in an industry where ups and downs are inevitable, and we need to be constantly building our brand and staying visible, in order to create consistency and sustainability. All Things Real Estate raised the bar for real estate marketing, and they are continuing to do so. Learn more about the work they are doing to help real estate agents close more deals in our podcast episode, The Power of Storytelling in Real Estate, with Tracey Hicks.
