Matthew is a 19-year veteran with the Navy and Coast Guard. While in the Navy he was a minesweeper assigned to a rotational crew for 4 years. The rest of is time in service was with the Coast Guard as a operations specialist on multiple ships. In this episode I talk to Conor about his time in the Air Force. Conor went into the air force as an open contract that ended up becoming a crew chief for a C130 bird. When he enlisted, he was in great shape but that ended in 2017 just after three years into his contract. Conor became terribly ill and went to the base hospital to get checked out. During his stay at the hospital, he was being told by a new doctor he was going to be fine while a saltier doc was telling him that it was going to be that easy. Conor ended up being flown back home for further medical help. At this time, he found out he was going to have heart surgery and about 2 to 3 months later he was going to be discharged from the Air Force. Conor is being thrown to the wolfs from the VA. At this point he is only receiving 30% even though he was discharged from service and now has a pump inside his heart. We are reaching out to anyone who can help him, please send him an email with a case you have won that is close to his. Conor has found peace with the Veterans Brotherhood VMC. Brandon served the Air Force from 05 to 16, in that time he was awarded airman of the year for his group in 06. Brandon’s military career was a roller coaster to say the least, he first attempted to join the Navy but in a weird turn of events he ended up going into the Air Force. His plan was to only do four years and get out then use his GI bill to pay and finish his schooling. Once he was at boot camp, he found out that the MOS he signed up for he no longer qualified for and now had 2o minutes to pick a new MOS. Brandon tried to get stationed in a big city but again fate knocked at his door and he was sent to a small hole in the wall town. Listen to Derek talk about his ups and downs during his service to the Navy. Derek did not have an easy ride with the Navy by any means. He opens up to me about his struggles with becoming a Father and losing his grandfather on the same day, then waiting to be assigned to his first ship with much excitement just to find out he possibly got assigned to one of the worst ships in the fleet. Derek opens my eyes about what it was like to be on ship during a deployment and all the stress he went through during that time in his life. Unfortunately the ship Derek was assigned to had a active shooter and he lost one of his shipmates. Derek is a success story, he hit his all time low while on ship deployed away from his family on one of the worst ships to be on at that time as he took his first attempt at ending his life. I am very grateful he did not achieve his goal at that time and was able to turn his life around and become a great providing father to his two kids and became an engineer to one of the best companies to work for. Thank you for your service Derek!
