Injustice and Grief: Three Profound Lessons with Dr. Cristi Bundukamara, Ed.D. PMHNP Founder and Creator of The Mentally STRONG Method Have you ever felt your pain was too much to bear? Have you experienced the heaviness of sorrow, and asked, “Why me?” Are you ready to discover a hidden purpose in your suffering? Cristi Bundukamara fearlessly shares her remarkable journey of resilience and transformation. She will show you how to find purpose after loss. Here at Mentally STRONG I want you to be empowered by our model of providing psychoeducational counseling through the Mentally STRONG Method. https://mentallystrongacademy.com/ I have been a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2000, with extensive experience with clients of all ages. My career began as an Army Medic before attending Florida International University (FIU) nursing school. I have worked in various nursing positions, including missionary work in Jamaica, Mexico, and Peru. I continued at FIU and obtained a master's in nursing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, then continued to Nova Southeastern for my Doctorate. With a deep desire to serve my country again, I was commissioned in the US Navy Reserves, where I still do. I am originally from Miami, FL, where I accepted Christ after the devastating Hurricane Andrew. My husband and I have seven children, two biological and five adopted from the foster care system. My husband and two biological children have a devastating, rare, and difficult-to-diagnose disease that struck us unexpectedly, challenging our view of life and faith in God. Life is filled with joy and pain in varying degrees for different people. We have had our share of both, and we recognize that people are immensely resilient and are never given more than they can handle. We also appreciate that while we have experienced heart-wrenching setbacks through the years, our family has relied on each other for comfort and support. Supporting each other is undoubtedly one of our family's greatest strengths. On this episode on the Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Wes Masters former Royal Army Medical Corps combat medic and recipient of the Military Cross.Wes Masters was awarded the Military Cross by Her Majesty The Queen for his actions on the battlefield in Afghanistan on the 4th of July 2013.The two men were among 12 British soldiers taking part in a pre-dawn raid on the Taliban in their stronghold of Yakshal in Helmand province.Wes ran hundreds of metres across dangerous ground surrounded by Taliban firing points, carrying heavy equipment, in stifling heat to tend to his comrade who had taken a shot in the throat from a Taliban sharp-shooter.  His actions kept the wounded soldier in the fight. That wounded soldier was a sniper, who then went on to have a significant impact on the battle, and undoubtedly preserved the lives of many of his teammates, whilst reducing the threat and capability of the enemy they were fighting. That injured comrade was Simon Moloney, who was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross for his actions on that same day. Simon has told his side of the story in a previous episode of the podcast.Support the show - https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=9LG48GC49TW38Website - www.zerolimitspodcast.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/zero.limits.podcast/?hl=en

Last week on the Bachelorette the episode focused way too much on Logan. He decided he wasn't feeling it with Rachel, wanted to switch to Gabby's “team” (his words not ours we hate it actually) and created a sort of love triangle. Logan is a Southern California guy who grew up surfing and kayaking. Which led Megan down a rabbit hole across the waters to another location frequented by surfers, Hawaii. This week, Megan tells the story of Catherine Walker, who truly sounds like a sweet and loving person. She was murdered in 2014 in her Honolulu, Hawaii home, when her Army Medic husband, Michael, was working. Soon after her death, the truth comes out… and Michael was not the man Catherine thought he was. How does a near-fatal parachute accident equate to becoming an entrepreneur? Ask this week's Team Never Quit guest, Travis Wilson. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret and in the Special Forces. When his chute's canopy collapsed and he “burned in,” Travis spent his recovery time developing his own line of supplement products. Listen in as Travis tells of his life transitions; his successes and failures. From a broken back, knee replacements and over a dozen surgeries to launching Alpha Elite Performance and serving as an Ambassador for the Green Beret Foundation, Travis is a picture of motivation and perseverance. Check it out. In this episode you will hear: • I was on a free-fall team the majority of my military career. • On a night jump, the right side of my canopy collapsed. I was a right below 500', so there's no pulling reserve – just pray. • I thought I had landed on a fence post. I broke my back, so I felt like I was impaled. • I went to school for Exercise Science. But did I graduate? No, because “I'm not gonna miss this war.” • I was an Army Medic. • I stated a non-profit – Alpha Elite Performance. It's a way for me to give back to veterans. • My dad didn't care if I failed or I succeeded, as long as I tried. • My dad's attitude was: “You're not gonna grow up and quit.” • When I got hurt, I thought I was gonna get kicked out, so that's when I started my nutrition company. • It's a super challenge owning your own business. • I was a security manager for Five Finger Death Punch, because I had a medical background.  • I lost 2 wives and 2 Harleys.

September 11 survivors Matt Rosenberg and James Gagliano share their thoughts 20 years after the attacks.  Matt was an Army Medic at the Pentagon and Jimmy was an FBI agent in lower Manhattan. Matt was assigned the position of Mass Casualty NCO at the Pentagon about two weeks before September 11. His primary duty was as a medic in the minor surgery clinic and emergency response teams. Because the plane that hit the Pentagon impacted a section recently been renovated to include bomb resistant designs, it was not initially apparent to Matt that they had been hit also. When Matt received permission to enter the burning section of the building he recalls “To this day I will never forget the look my supervisor gave me – it was one of those I don't expect to see you again looks.” Someone gave him a shirt soaked in what they thought was water to help deal with the heavy smoke. He would later learn it was water mixed with jet fuel. Jimmy was on his way to a dental appointment when he heard the news over the radio and turned around to rush into lower Manhattan.  He says the fact that he was in a soft cast from recent ACL surgery - moving slower than normal may have saved his life. Jimmy arrived just as the first tower came down and spent months “working the pile” looking for survivors and remains. One of his most vivid memories of September 11 was the image of those souls who chose to jump to their deaths rather than die in the flames. Both Matt and Jimmy agree that they would like to see a return the visceral feeling of resolve, connectivity and sense of unity that our nation felt shortly after the attacks. We reflect on concepts of passing the torch to subsequent generations.  Young people joining the military and emergency services today know that the September 11 attacks set a new standard for what our nation and communities expect from them and they join anyway.
