You all have heard the saying...."Forgive and Forget", but what does the Bible say about forgiving and forgetting? We also talk about the idea of a mid-life crisis. Check it out!

The world tells us to repay our enemies and hate them. But Jesus said something entirely different in the sermon on the mount. He said that we are to love our enemies. How do we love those who hurt us? Maybe the first step is understanding who we are in connection to Jesus, realizing that we were once enemies of Him. How often do you spend time praying for them? Some see the Bible as outdated and out of touch. So, we assume that it's pro-slavery and anti-women and etc. It's not any of those things. Some see the Bible as a good book, but think that the authors had an agenda or that it is just simply, not relevant anymore. So we kind of look at the Bible as we would a book on parenting from the 1950's. But could it be that the key to understanding the relevancy of the Bible, really hinges on how reliant the Bible is? The Bible is relevant because it's true. It's not true because it's relevant. "The word of the Lord stands forever."

On today's episode, we discuss the idea of being in the world but not of the world. While so many in the church are tempted just to stay isolated from the world, we know that the great commission is to go "into" the world and make disciples. Not to be influenced, but to influence. As we wrap up the final chapter in Acts, we recognize that this book was never about Paul or Peter, but rather about the Gospel. It's about Jesus. It's about the Holy Spirit living in us and moving through us to change the world around us. So while Paul is buried in the ground, the message is still moving. Imagine if we embraced the platform that God has given us. Boldly taking the Gospel to everyone we locked eyes with. There is no plan B. It will not fail and it cannot be stopped. No matter the stones, the storms, or the snake bites. God's story is unhindered. We also discuss Labor Day and why you shouldn't leave your keys in your car while pumping gas. On this episode, Jason and Micah discuss a literal storm that occurs with Paul on a ship. While this idea of Paul as a prisoner seems like it will never come to a conclusion, he continues on with a calmness. Even while his ship wrecks, Paul knows that God is in control. There is so much growth that occurs in Paul's life from when he first comes to Christ in chapter 9, to now in chapter 27. Which begs the question.....have you grown spiritually from when you first became a Christian? Are you still growing? Why or why not? We also discuss swimming in dark waters and fasting. On today's podcast, Jason and Micah cover chapters 25 & 26. Paul is still on trial. While Paul is pleading for his life, he also is preaching the gospel. He is very strategic on getting that message out. Which begs the question, do you or your church have a plan to connect people to Jesus? While some things work better than others in different places, you should have a plan. One thing that we see in these chapters are two different responses to the gospel. Who are you "persuading"? In chapter 24, Paul stands before Governor Felix. After both sides plead their case, Felix decides that he will not come to a conclusion. In the meantime, Paul is placed in prison until a decision is made. It just so happens to last over two years long. Which begs the question......when going through storms in life, where do you turn? Maybe a more important question is..... what do you live for? Most people in life, while going through trials, either run toward God or far away from Him. Today, Jason and Micah discuss Acts 21. In this chapter, we see Paul not listening to the heeding of the Holy Spirit. He was prompted not to go into Jerusalem and yet, in order to share the gospel, he goes anyway. We find that Paul gets arrested, and we are left on a cliff before reading chapter 22. This begs the question, was Paul wrong and defying God? We discuss this today, as well as, bird calling and Christian Financial Resources. In chapter 20, Paul preaches for hours, essentially watching a man fall asleep, leading to his death. That begs the question.....should sermons be longer or shorter? We also see that Paul encourages and warns the Ephesian elders to protect against false teaching. The warning that he states is that false teaching will even come from within. After all, Eutychus'd too if you fell out of a window! We discuss how important preaching is in the church, the importance of communion on a Sunday, Jason's new commentary, comparing and contrasting father's day vs. mother's day church attendance and baseball. Today we look at Acts 19. We see Paul explain what Christian baptism is. Is there more than one baptism? As Paul is in Ephesus, he does many miraculous things in order to share the gospel. It even leads to some burning their own things that hinder them from the truth. And, of course, we see opposition amongst the people in Ephesus. How should we respond to those in opposition? On this week's episode, Jason and Micah make their way through Acts 18. How do you deal with those who don't want to hear what you have to say? We are introduced to a power couple in Aquila and Priscilla. They are fellow believers who really enhance Paul's ministry. They deal specifically with a godly man by the name of Apollos. While Apollos is an "eloquent" man, he was confused on what Christian baptism was. Aquila and Priscilla correct him in a way that helps him to understand. Should we stand up for what we believe in? Is there a right or wrong way to do that? And best of all, we see people giving their lives to Jesus in this chapter. We also discuss pools and hot tubs. Which team are you? Pool or Hot tub? Today on the podcast, Covey Wise, joins us from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to discuss Acts 17. We find Paul dealing with more persecution, yet he continues to press on. We see that Paul looked around and was "greatly distressed" with what he saw. In 2023, we can do the same thing. However, he didn't run away. He didn't push others farther away. Paul knew that from a distance, you will never help people who are far from God get closer to God. So the question is, are you spending time up close with people who are far from God? Today, Jason and Micah discuss Acts 16. In this chapter, we are introduced to the first European convert, Paul and Silas thrown in jail, and a jailer give his life to the Lord. We also see obedience, urgency, and evangelism at its finest. Are we looking for every opportunity to share the gospel? The good news is, we aren't alone. Today, Micah discusses Acts 15. Have you ever made it difficult for people who are outside of Christ to begin a relationship with Him? We see in this chapter that the Jews were making it difficult for the Gentiles to come to a relationship with Jesus. Mainly through circumcision. We found in this chapter, that God is more concerned about pursuing outsiders than comforting insiders. Not because outsiders are more important, but rather because they're just more urgent. On today's episode, Jason and Micah dig into Acts 14, where we see people causing problems and stirring up division. Paul and Barnabas receive praise and persecution throughout this chapter. But throughout all of this, Paul's perseverance is commendable. While sometimes it might be easy for us to throw in the towel, Paul pushes forward, and encourages the others to do the same. In Acts 13, we are introduced to a couple of false teachers. How should we deal with false teaching in our churches? And how should we respond to those who are unteachable? In Acts 11-12, we see persecution still going strong. Through arrests and even murder, the church lived in scary times. Yet, while those events were taking place, God showed that He was still in control. What area of your life do you need to be reminded that God is in control? Is Jesus for everyone? In Acts 10, we are introduced to a man by the name of Cornelius. Cornelius loved God, but was not Jewish. Some significant events take place in Acts 9. Saul is on his way to continue persecuting christians, when he encounters Jesus. While this is one of the most significant events, we can't forget guys like Ananias and Barnabas. They play a role that doesn't give them much credit, but is so influential. Which begs the question.....what if we didn't care who got the credit in the church? And maybe, just maybe, that person that you never thought could change, has the possibility of becoming a difference maker in this world. We also discuss Hibachi and Blackstone grills. Check it out!

In Acts 8, we zoom in on a guy by the name of Philip, who continues to share the gospel with the world. Specifically, a man who has questions, and what we see is that he starts with just a simple question. It leads to this man giving his life to Jesus. Maybe we have those same opportunities in 2023, but do we take advantage of those opportunities? We also meet Simon the Sorcerer, and see Saul continue ravaging the church. In Acts 7, we see a man named Stephen die for what he believed in. However, the church didn't crumble because of it. What we actually see, is that the church scattered and exploded! Today, we continue our study of the book of Acts. As we look at chapter four, we see Peter and John up against the first small batch of persecution. While these "ordinary" men could have very easily ran away quietly, they stood boldly and with courage, and because of that, one could tell that they had been with Jesus. What an amazing compliment! Are we bold and courageous? Can people see Jesus in us? And do they know that there is only one name by which we must be saved? All of this on the podcast today, plus some Valentine's Day talk. As we approach a new year, we always seem to get excited about starting new resolutions. The question is, do they work? And if they don't, why not? There is a big difference between, where I am, and where I want to be. Maybe the key to a better marriage, a healthier you (physically, mentally, spiritually), fixing your finances, whatever you are trying to achieve, is knowing who you are. Your identity drives your behavior, and consistency is the key to success. We also discuss avoiding bad habits and list our own personal goals.
