Carry the Three is a podcast about a group of friends tackling everyday topics in the Black community with a shot of chaos. Listen to us if you don’t mind us getting a little distracted. We might start with the typical “how’s the weather?” and somehow talk about our favorite fruit, then bounce to a slightly more relevant topic such as global warming. Wanna know more about black culture, life outside the US, or the way of Rock Lee? You’ll get all that and more here. Welcome to the chaos!
Here's part two to our spoooooky season series. In this episode, we talk more about astrology, tarot cards, and other haunted happenings. This week, we have a special guest! Meet Tiana, a software engineer that dabbles in crafts and tarot cards. More importantly, she's T's sister! Tiana joined us to add some “expert” analysis to tarot and things, but honestly, she ended up adding to our chaos rather than calming us down. Check her out on Instagram and Etsy @HonestlyTCrafts. This episode is beyond our usual chaos, which I know is hard to believe, but it really is.
Fall is here! Changing weather, falling leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween. T thought it would be a great idea to talk about superstitions as we enter Spooky season. And that's exactly what we did….for the most part. In this episode we talk about some superstitions/customs that are in the Black community. Of course, we didn't talk about too many different ones as we slid from topic to topic, but we definitely covered some major ones. And I promise you the crabs are related to Black customs...just not how you're expecting. Welcome to the Chaos!
With all the time we spend on social media, we're bound to come across some new slang that the kids are using. But what if that new “slang” is really just Black people talking and being themselves in front of the whole world? In this episode, we discuss blaccents: what they are, why someone would have one, and how we feel about it. This is just our take on it, but it is an interesting conversation. And if you're wondering where the squash comes in, well you're just gonna have to listen to the episode.
This is the beginning of season 2 part 2 or what we call our redemption arc. 2021 has not been the kindest to us and we've been busy holding onto our sanity while the world spins into pandemic pandemonium. Is it just us or does 2021 seem harder to deal with than 2020? In this episode, we talk about what we want to see in the future of Carry the Three and somehow the proper name for a large cookie type dessert. Cookie pizza? Cookie cake? We don't know, but listen and enjoy the ride. Welcome back to the chaos!
This is a short episode we recorded back in April when we thought the world needed more of our chaos and less of the negativity, but ended up not sharing because of everything happening. These days we’ve decided that we should go back to our roots of Carry the Three, so here’s a mostly unedited episode to remind you of what we’re really like. Welcome to the Chaos: Uncut!
The chaos in our minds and the world continues to grow. In this episode, we talk about the Stop Asian Hate Movement and how we view it. Of course, we follow our own streams of consciousness and end up talking about Olly London and the fetishization of Asian people among several other things. Don’t worry about this episode being too serious. We’re still us after all. So listen in on the chaos!
Guess who’s finally back! We missed the end of 2020 and the start of 2021, but you know what? We’re back and just as chaotic as ever. In this episode, we catch you up on all the things we said we were going to do and what we actually did. Of course this means we talked about ten other topics. This is just the start of season 2! We have a lot we want to get into for season 2, so welcome to the chaos!
So remember when we said we were going to take a break in August and be back in September? Well, it's still September, so WE'RE BAAACK! In this episode, we fill you in on all of our recent happenings from teaching to the passing of the great RBG, Rest In Power. Because we were gone for so long, this episode has even more random shenanigans. Like did you know that the Wiggles has a fandom??? This episode doesn't have a Carry the Three Challenge, but you should definitely listen until the very end to hear our surprising news.
Remember when we said we had a special announcement for you? Well, in this special announcement episode of Carry the Three, we are taking a mini break in light of our (short) school summer vacation and we also talk about what we are going to do for our vacation, which is sleep and watch TV. We’ll be back in September. And don’t worry, we’ll still be giving a Carry the Three Challenge, so listen to the end and try to guess our mystery word! In the meantime, enjoy the rest of summer as well as you can~
On this podcast, we meander from topic to topic sprinkling a little chaos here and there. But a lot of the chaos gets cut for the sake of time, because no one wants to hear us ramble for 2 hours. So we wanted to share with you one instance of us carrying the three that didn't make it into an episode. This episode is an excerpt from the Social Distancing episode (go listen to it if you haven't). We went from social distancing to Kobe shucking and jiving. Along the way, we talk about the weekend we created the idea for Carry the Three and somehow we made our way back to social distancing. This episode is a lot shorter than our usual episodes and there's no challenge this week, but you get another week to leave your answers on our Instagram @CarrytheThree ~
This pandemic is lasting a lot longer than many people thought, so you have to do something to stay sane while you stay indoors. In this episode, we talk about what we do during quarantine and the extended social distancing period. You’ll hear everything from watching anime to playing the board game, Clue. Stick around for our second Carry the Three Challenge! Maybe you’ll win something this time around. It'll be something nice to break up the monotony of social distancing/quarantine~
College is supposed to be the best four years of your life. Or is that high school?? Either way, it’s false, but we still want to talk about it. In this episode, we do another round robin of questions so that you can get to know us. We then spend the rest of the episode talking about everything from our favorite college courses to Sweet Baby Ray’s barbeque sauce, an essential condiment for any household. In the end, we talk about this awesome way to donate your time to the Black Lives Matter movement. Check it out here at U-Don's website or in the Apple app store. 100% of their profits will be donated to support the destroyed black-owned businesses and the national bail fund network. Unfortunately, we don’t have a challenge this week, but we will be back at it next week!
So remember how we said that we had other episodes planned? Well, here’s one for you. With the summer here and a pandemic keeping us all indoors, at least you should be indoors, we started thinking about our favorite songs to listen to in the summer. In this episode, we talk you through our chaotic thought process in creating our summertime playlist. Listen to the very first Carry the Three Challenge, a riddle to stretch your imagination!
This is the last episode of our Black Lives Matter series and it focuses on the voices that are being silenced in the movement: Black trans people. We talk about why it is important to lift up these voices and why #AllBlackLivesMatter is not the same as AllLivesMatter. We also talk about where Carry the Three goes from here on out. One thing to remember, just because the focus of our episodes won’t be Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean that the conversation is over. There have been a few changes, but the work isn’t over yet. We hope everyone did their part for Pride month. Let’s keep this energy going forward!
There has been a lot of response and support of the Black Lives Matter movement, but what do we do next? In this episode, we talk about the protests and reactions we’ve seen around the world from the perspective of Black Americans living outside the US. We then bring the conversation to the future of this movement and what we want to see. There have been a few changes so far, but the fight isn’t over yet. Of course, we wouldn’t be us if we didn’t stray a bit here and there. Welcome to the Chaos!
Did you predict the rise of the murder hornets? Or what about the death of the great Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna? Maybe you could have predicted the Pentagon confirmation of UFOs. Well, you’d have to be a pretty great prophet to be able to predict all the wild events that’s happened in 2020 so far…..and we’re only halfway through the year! In this episode, we talk about how 2020 has been for us and how things are going so far. So far, so bad. Welcome to the Chaos!Visit our website at carrythethree.com
Welcome to the very first episode of the Carry the Three podcast! We wanted to start our podcast with light-hearted content, but all of our discussions these days center around the Black Lives Matter movement and the worldwide protests. In this episode, we talk about how we found out about George Floyd's murder, how it has affected us, and what the Black Lives Matter movement means to us. For more information, check out our blog https://www.carrythethree.com/blog-1
Carry the Three is a term we use to say that we are three (most likely more) steps away from whatever topic we started on. In this trailer, you’ll get a little taste of what a full episode is like. Why are we like this? We don’t know, but we try to figure it out. Welcome to the chaos!
