The biggest headline is legal: multiple outlets including USA Today and Rolling Stone report that a U.S. federal judge has reversed a previous ruling in the massive reggaeton copyright case over the dembow rhythm, handing Bad Bunny and more than 150 Latin artists a major victory. The judge found that the plaintiffs behind the classic track Fish Market had not properly identified a specific copyrighted work that could be enforced, which means most of the claims against Bad Bunny's catalog will not move forward toward trial. Commentators in Latin music circles are already calling it a historic moment for reggaeton, because it removes a cloud that had been hanging over thousands of songs and clears the way for the genre's producers and performers to keep using its foundational rhythms without that particular lawsuit hanging over them. At the same time, Bad Bunny's Super Bowl legacy just reached a new peak. According to a press release covered in the entertainment trades, the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show starring Bad Bunny has just won seven Emmy Awards at the 78th Emmys, making it the most-awarded Super Bowl halftime show in Emmy history. It set a global viewership record as well, with more than four billion views in the first 24 hours across television, YouTube, and social platforms. For listeners, that means his 12‑minute performance is now being talked about not just as a viral moment, but as an award‑winning piece of live television that pushed Latin music even further into the mainstream. On the charts, Bad Bunny continues to dominate streaming. Forbes reports that his song EOO has climbed back up to number two on Billboard's Latin Streaming Songs chart this week, just shy of becoming his twenty‑first number‑one on that ranking. Karol G's Bby Wow is holding it off the top spot for now, but the interesting detail is that Bad Bunny occupies ten of the twenty‑five positions on that entire chart and half of the top ten.
