Joe Buck was at the Lake Of The Ozarks to accept an award this weekend, and in the lobby he ran into a youth baseball team...and their Dads!"
Timing & gratitude & connection & wonderful listeners....
It all started with a discussion about the new Real ID's that we're all supposed to have now. That turned into talk about the weight on your drivers license...
Scotty got caught up in some of those "mowing/yard clean up" type videos on TikTok this weekend. We wondered what videos YOU get caught up in watching!?
We're learning more about Post Malone and Jelly Roll this week, through their tattoos. And Lord knows there's plenty to learn, and plenty of tattoos to choose from!
Clay Cumbie is a singer/songwriter that spent his Jr. High & High School years in Columbia, before chasing his dreams in Nashville. Scotty met Clay when is was 16 or so and "playing out". Even then you could tell that Clay had talent, as a singer, songwriter, and guitar player. Clay has lived the life of a "Nashville Songwriter", and has lots of insights into the music business from that aspect. We cover a lot of ground, but it's another "behind-the-scenes" type look at Country music that Liz & Scotty love hearing about so much. It's a new word which is making it's way into the modern lexicon...
It's almost time for the Academy Of Country Music (ACM) Award Show! We're very excited about the news that Clear 99 has been nominated for ACM Small Market Radio Station of the Year, and Liz & Scotty have been nominated for the personality award as well! So we talk about what goes into an award entry, as well as sharing the aircheck we submitted for the judges to hear. A quick story about Liz & Scotty looking forward to the same Saturday.
Our guy Kenny Jay was in town for a few days, so we grabbed him for an in-studio Country Music visit! We had no real agenda, but Kenny was just at the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Nashville so we figured he'd have a couple of topics we could dig into. (We posted a page at Clear99.com that has links to some of the things Kenny references in the Poddy.) (:14) Welcome & pleasantries (1:58) CRS highlights (5:39) Some up & coming female artists to check out (10:00) CMA & ACM...is there really a difference these days? When Liz and her husband Will first started dating, among their first dates were a rodeo and a fishing trip. This struck Scotty as funny, considering that Liz is more of a city mouse than a country mouse. At least that's where the discussion began. It ended with Scotty calling Liz a big 'ol liar.
Liz &Scotty learn a little something about skin care.
What is it about Billy Ray Cyrus that keeps getting him gigs? It's a question that Scotty has asked many times, and it comes up again after Billy's performance at President Trump's inauguration.
More proof, that Scotty is an idiot.
We really enjoyed this visit with Kenny Jay about what Country Music in 2025 may look like. Kenny is a guy we love working with at Clear 99. He works with radio stations now, but has worked with artists like Morgan Wallen and Hardy on the record label/artists management side of things. We asked Kenny to come up with a couple of trends he see's for the format in 2025. Not just things that would be important for us as radio people, but things you would find interesting too. It's a great "peek behind the curtain", and we think you'll enjoy it too. (:18) Setup (1:41) Kenny's credentials (3:30) A brief overview of Country music in 2024, and how things may shift in 2025. Former Clear Crew member, and current CMT Top 20 Country Countdown co-host Carissa Culiner joins us for a look back at a few Country Music stories from 2024. Scotty found himself wondering why he even bothers with his normal healthy snacks this time of year.
Yellowstone, which started 6 years ago, is done. Sometimes it seemed like 6 years between seasons! Liz & Scotty talk about the final episode, and how they think it all wrapped up. Wrapped up for now anyway. There is talk of more Yellowstone coming in a different series, and they talk about that too!
Christmas is a popular time of year for proposals. Scotty wondered if ladies would PREFER to be proposed to on a day, independent of another holiday. We heard different opinions, and different holidays...
There is ONE episode left! On the latest episode, L&S felt like maybe one big question got answered, but there is a lot more that needs to get settled. What's gonna happen to Jamie? Is there more to come after next week's episode? Another series perhaps? Let's dig in...
Scotty says it's a yearly decision that must be made, just after Thanksgiving.
Not our favorite episode, but still a couple of things worth discussing. Listeners Shauna & Paige also weigh in on topics including "how in the world are they gonna get this wrapped up in just two more episodes!?"
Some big happenings this episode, including the investigation into John Dutton's death being re-opened as a homicide investigation. And speaking of deaths, a big ending to the episode... Liz & Scotty attempt to hash it all out.
Liz LOVES watching awkwardness from afar. Scotty has what he thinks should be a rule at award shows. Those two things come together here.
An example of something that comes up that is really funny. Inappropriate, but funny. So Liz & Scotty milk it for a little more funny, but then move on before the kids in the carpool start asking questions.
The episode is titled "The Apocalypse Of Change". Liz thought that was a little over-the-top compared to what we learned this week! As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the show, where it's heading, and if you think we're full of crap with our ideas! Email us at clear99@mailzimmer.com or text 800-455-KCLR(5257)!
Yellowstone is back, and so are Liz & Scotty's recaps! Agree with our takes? Disagree? Let us know! clear99@mailzimmer.com
Tim was caller #9 for the Clear 99 $500 Survey, and decided to use his wife's answer instead of his own. And that was just the beginning of the fun...
Liz can attest that there are lots of new lessons to learn as a "new" Mom. This week, one of those lessons came in the form of a text from her husband.
Liz & Scotty both came across an interesting flyer in the Zimmer break room this morning.
Join MU Health Care's fight against breast cancer. Scotty discusses what all is being done with Dr. Nicole Nelson.
Liz has been giggling about this picture since we posted it earlier this week. Our "Clear 99 Delivers" winners this week were at Missouri Fertility, so we took them lunch from D. Rowe's. We took a quick picture while we were there, and Liz thinks Scotty looks so awkward and funny!
A few months back, Liz let it slip...on the radio...that her sister was expecting, before her sister had announced it! Just wondered if it'd ever happened to YOU!?
Liz is a HUGE fan of the group Rascal Flatts. But a few years ago they announced that they were separating, and going to do a farewell tour. But the tour never happened, and Liz & other RF fans feel like there is some unfinished business that needs attention. And recent social media activity has fans buzzing just a bit.
It was Baby Liam's first day at daycare and Liz was a little surprised that he pooped three times while he was there. Scotty was surprised that Liz gets notified every time it happens.
In the middle of a story about the ACT scores of Mizzou Freshman, Scotty found out Liz's score. Let's just say it wasn't even in the same neighborhood as Scotty's.
They weren't REALLY fighting, but they weren't sure if the lady walking by realized that...
Remember that ghost pepper that Liz brought to Scotty? Well Scotty cut it up...and then he rubbed his eye.
It was a surprise of little importance, but a surprise nonetheless. It was one of the silly questions that they ask to stir up some morning show discussion, but Scotty was not ready for Liz's response.
The question was "what's the #1 annoyance about driving your spouses/kids/sig others vehicle!?"
Listener Laura shares what SHE calls an embarrassing story about house sitting/baby sitting/dog sitting. Embarrassing for her, funny for us!
On this episode we get to hear what Liz has been up to! She's about halfway through her maternity leave and we MISS HER! Plus it just so happens that the day we recorded, it was her daughter Evelyn's 2nd birthday as well. And this week, what some are calling the most anticipated video game release of all-time is happening. The EA Sports College Football 2025 game is obviously a big deal, so we talked with big time gamer Josh Ryan about it. Then before we go we share another "Morning Sip". (1:00) Visit with Liz (8:01) Josh and some video game talk (13:12) Morning Sip - Grandpa!?
Some of our popular answers were building a house, long road trips, and working cattle!
