If you are a Bible believing born again Christian, you are called to fight a battle in which there is no retreat, no surrender. Onward, Christian soldier!Paul tells us that, as born again believers in Jesus Christ, we find ourselves in a battle from there is no abstaining. We are told to fight a good, fight, finish our course and keep the faith. The Bible also says we have an adversary who wants to stop us from doing that. The other day while driving through town, we passed a funeral home with the doors wide open, and the back of the hearse was pressed into service. One of the kids as we passed quietly said ‘hey, the last Uber!' which at first didn't register with me. When I asked what he meant, Liam said “the back of that hearse has a sticker that says the last Uber'. What was that all about? Was it a joke, was it a warning, or perhaps a little bit of both? My message today is called ‘The Last Uber', and one day that ride will pull up to your door, and ready or not, you will be compelled to get in. Does God have a plan for your life? He sure does, but you make not like it much because there are things required on your part in order to bring it about. What if God's plan for your life required you to give something up, would you do it? How about going through a particular trial or hardship? If you're lost, God has a plan for you, and He did it on the cross at Calvary. Paid for your sins in His own blood. His will is that you receive that payment. Jehu was a mighty man of God, appointed king over Israel by the prophet Elijah. Jehu drove furiously, the Bible says, he didn't do anything halfway. God told him to smite all the followers of Baal and Jehu does so with gusto. When it's over, God gives him a wonderful commendation on a job well done. Right up to the moment Jehu is rebuked for his “heart problem”. In this Sunday Service message, we see the call to drive like Jehu, but to finish like the apostle Paul. Today was the last Sunday Service of 2024, and at Bethany Baptist Church this morning there was a little bit of end times excitement in the air during Sunday School, Sunday Service and even our singing seemed a little more charged up than usual. Though we had some people out, many came and a number of new people as well. Our little 'church in the woods' is growing, and there is such a good Spirit there as it grows, it's truly a blessing. My message today was on the whole armour of God and its importance as these end times swirl around us. At the risk of oversimplifying, let me just say that the whole armour of God is God's preserved word as found in the Bible He wrote. The 'word of the king' and the power that comes with that word, that's your armour. God didn't create a PDF, didn't make a web site, and didn't use social media, He wrote a Book. Do you have it? I thought we were having a pretty terrific day on Friday when we did on Podcast on the hundreds of sightings of drones and UFOs over New Jersey, and indeed we had lots to talk about concerning the Days of Noah. Then Donald Trump went to meet with Emmanuel Macron in France to be on hand for the reopening of the pagan temple known as Notre Dame, lots of crazy stuff went on there. Then yesterday happened, Syria fell into the hands of ISIS rebels as Israel put tanks into the Golan Heights to defend their border. Now it's just flat-out end times activity that's off the charts, and that's the subject of my message on this NTEB Sunday Service. In my message today, I want to talk about how God gave words to his prophets and apostles to prepare us for the time we are living in right now. This is not so much a message on the faithfulness of God's words in general, but on the importance of discerning the times we are living in at this exact moment here in the 21st century.
