On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the New York Jets overhauled wide receiver room in preparation for their potential trade for Aaron Rodgers. Switching gears to the NBA, the knee injury to Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is absolutely devastating. If you thought the Western Conference playoff race was crazy before, just wait and see how this PG injury shakes things up. Later, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah swings by to discuss the long-rumored trade that would send Rodgers to the Jets, why he's high on Tennessee's Hendon Hooker as an NFL prospect, why Florida's Anthony Richardson could be the biggest boom-or-bust prospect in the NFL Draft, why he hanks Bryce Young over CJ Stroud and much more! On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get things started by recapping the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Top seeds Alabama and Houston still look like the cream of the crop, but if Drew Timme keeps dominating the way he has been then maybe it's time to throw Gonzaga in the mix as well. Timme is one of the best college players we've seen in a decade. However, given his overall lack of prototypical size and athleticism, it's hard to see exactly how his game translates to the NBA. Alabama superstar Brandon Miller, on the other hand, has a game that seems built for the NBA but he's struggled mightily in the tournament. Are his issues strictly health-related or is that infamous murder investigation finally starting to get to him? Finally, J-Mac and Rob close the show by sharing their thoughts on Bronny James' looming decision whether to go to college next year or go pro in a place like the G-League or Overtime Elite.   Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts! #FSRSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

However, the Round of 32 games on Saturday are looking extra spicy as two #1 seeds (Houston and Kansas) could be on upset alert. Later, the guys dive deep into the week that was for the Las Vegas Raiders. Rob G – a noted Raiders fan – isn't feeling the acquisition of Jimmy Garoppolo or the trade of Darren Waller, while J-Mac is cautiously optimistic that Josh McDaniels can turn things around in year two if they can hit on their draft picks. On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the latest developments in the ongoing Aaron Rodgers soap opera coming out of Green Bay. The latest comments from the Packers general manager seem to suggest that the team is ready to move on from their mercurial quarterback... but does anyone else really want him? If you canvas the rest of the NFL it starts to become abundantly clear that there just aren't very many landing spots for Rodgers. Later, our fearless leader does a quick preview of the upcoming NFL Draft. As is usually the case, much of the conversation is focused on the quarterbacks (Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis), but J-Mac isn't in love with any one of them. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder in this one. Finally, Jason closes the show with a quick whip around the NBA. Did you see that the Luka Doncic-Kyrie Irving combo lost again? Or that the Giannis-led Milwaukee Bucks won their 15th straight? On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by with a lengthy conversation on two of the biggest storylines from the weekend that was in the NBA. The new-look Los Angeles Lakers came back from 27 points down to stun Luka Doncic and the Mavericks in Dallas. Is it time to start taking them seriously in the Western Conference? Or did this game say more about the Mavericks' shortcomings than anything LeBron James and Co. did. In the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers came up short against Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics on Friday night. The loss isn't all that surprising… until you consider the rumblings that James Harden is seriously considering a return to Houston after the season. If the Sixers flame out of the postseason yet again, and Harden does in fact end up leaving, would they blow it up and ship superstar big man Joel Embiid out of town as well? Later, J-Mac goes solo to explain why he doesn't believe Friday's report that Russell Wilson tried to get Pete Carroll and John Schneider fired when the trio were all together in Seattle; Any objective person can tell that's just not in Wilson's character. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by paying homage to Damian Lillard for dropping 71 points in Portland's win over the Rockets. On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers ahead of his darkness retreat. Rodgers has shown time and again that he marches to the beat of his own drum - and this situation is no different. It's hard to trust a guy like that, and it's precisely why J-Mac wants him nowhere near his beloved New York Jets. Later, our fearless leader opens up a whole can of worms by going public with his report that Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay could be headed for a breakup. According to sources, Stafford is believed to be unhappy about the current direction of the franchise, and things became even more contentious when the team asked him to take a pay cut after their season ended. It's entirely possible that the two sides are able to work something out to keep everyone happy but the fact is that things aren't exactly copacetic in Los Angeles at the moment. Finally, Jason closes the show by sharing his thoughts on the reports that Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy may have to leave the club to take another OC job if he ever wants to be seriously considered for a head coaching gig in the future. The Andy Reid coaching tree is littered with guys who left, failed and eventually returned, but the fact that Bieniemy can't even get a real look elsewhere is baffling.  Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) hit us with an instant reaction podcast to the blockbuster trade that saw the Brooklyn Nets send Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson and a boatload of first round picks. The guys agree the move instantly puts the Suns back into NBA championship contention, but disagree on whether or not it makes Phoenix the favorites in the Western Conference. Devin Booker - like Durant - will be coming off a serious injury and Chris Paul has been looking rather washed recently. On the flip side, after trading away both KD and Kyrie Irving in less than a week, it's hard to figure out what the Nets' plan is moving forward. They have a glut of forwards and a treasure trove of draft picks, but no real franchise cornerstone players to build around. Something tells us Brooklyn will continue to be active on the trade market in the hours leading up to the trade deadline. Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by sharing their thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers' decision to trade Russell Westbrook for D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. This move makes the Lakers better but not so much where you'd consider them to be legitimate contenders in the West... even less so now that KD is in Phoenix. By trading Westbrook the Lakers essentially just rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic. **Apologies for the audio quality on today's podcast. You don't have to fire on the Philadelphia Eagles or Kansas City Chiefs this early in the week if you don't love a side; it's totally acceptable to nibble on a few props. Not only are they fun to bet on but you can make a decent amount of money in the process. Then, J-Mac share a quick thought on the Dallas Mavericks' impressive victory over the Utah Jazz. Luka Doncic is still down with injury and Kyrie Irving hasn't joined the squad just yet, but the 'other' guys put on quite a show. If Kyrie can stay on the straight and narrow, Dallas can be very dangerous moving forward. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by live from Radio Row in Phoenix to debate our fearless leader on LeBron James' leadership style in the wake of the failed Kyrie Irving trade. LeBron spent all weekend posting passive aggressive tweets and then doubled-down on Monday admitting that he was 'disappointed' the deal never got made... only to add :30 later that he thinks this current Los Angeles Lakers team can win an NBA championship as constructed. Wait, what?! One of the guys says he's disappointed that LeBron won't be honest about how he really feels while the other argues that LeBron is doing the best he can to keep locker room morale high in the event they're all stuck together after the deadline. The Bengals showed in the AFC Championship game that they're ready to phase Mixon out of their offense if needed so it's definitely possible that this incident could lead to them cutting ties from him altogether. Later, J-Mac goes off on the Memphis Grizzlies after Dillon Brooks got ejected for hitting Donovan Mitchell in the crotch during their latest loss. Memphis is quickly becoming the most unlikeable team in the NBA. Brooks is a nuisance and the team talks more trash than anyone in the League. The only problem? They've never actually won anything to justify it. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by discussing why the first thing he looks for in potential trades is whether or not a guy is a winning player. Alex Caruso? Winning player. James Wiseman? Not so much. Zach LaVine? The jury is still out. However, if you can get LaVine to the Los Angeles Lakers where he would be the third option behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis as opposed to the first option he's been for the last few years, you can expect most of his warts to disappear. On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by quickly discussing that infamous Seattle Seahawks haircut we saw him sporting Tuesday morning on The Herd. It seemed like a good bet before the season that the Seahawks would be one of the worst teams in the NFL, but thanks in large part to former New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, Seattle surprised a lot of people and ultimately caused our fearless to go viral. Later, J-Mac dives deep into the Denver Broncos decision to name Sean Payton as their next head coach. The price was steep but Payton still looks like a home run hire for Denver; If anyone can fix whatever ailed Russell Wilson last season, it's Payton. People forget that before last season Denver was projected to be a double-digit win team because their roster was so loaded with talent. With Payton running the show, the Broncos should absolutely be a playoff team in 2023. Finally, Jason closes the show with a few thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers' overtime victory over the New York Knicks. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Rui Hachimura looked pretty formidable along the front line, but more importantly, the Lakers showed that they have enough talent up and down the roster to make a deep playoff run. On today's episode, Jason gets things started by hitting us with a deep dive into Brock Purdy and the UCL injury that is expected to sideline him for at least 6 months. While some are using the injury as an excuse to float Tom Brady to the San Francisco 49ers as a potential free agent, J-Mac argues that the Niners should stay the course and let Purdy and Trey Lance battle it out for the starting gig. Why spend money on a stopgap signal caller like Tom Brady when you can fill out the rest of the roster with stars to help ease the burden on whichever quarterback is coming off of injury? Later, Jason explains once again why he's vehemently against the idea of his beloved New York Jets bringing in Aaron Rodgers to be their next starting quarterback. Not only is Rodgers aged and expensive but his ornery personality just doesn't seem like a good fit in a city like New York with a roster of young, impressionable stars. Finally, our fearless leader shares a personal story about his own rollercoaster ride from The Big Lead to FS1 to explain why Kellen Moore should view getting dumped by the Dallas Cowboys and eventually scooped up by the Los Angeles Chargers as a good thing. This is going to be a blessing in disguise that could ultimately lead to him getting that coveted head coaching gig in the near future. Presumably, the move was made with the intention of recruiting Aaron Rodgers to the Jets since the two worked together in Green Bay for three seasons. However, any realistic sports fan who can spot the forest through the trees will tell you that this is a bad idea - for a number of reasons. Later, Super Bowl winning NFL executive and VSiN host Michael Lombardi swings by to discuss the impact Patrick Mahomes' ankle injury could have on the game, how he expects the Cincinnati Bengals to defend the high-octane Kansas City Chiefs offense, why the Chiefs defense is going to have to be more selective with their blitz package against Joe Burrow, what makes Kyle Shanahan and Andy Reid different from Nick Sirianni and Zac Taylor, why he's uncertain that Brock Purdy or Jalen Hurt will be able to pull out a win if the opposing team gets out to a big early lead, why he expects the 49ers will have to play much better offensively than they did against Dallas to beat the Eagles, why he's not surprised to hear that the Cowboys might be looking to move off offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and much more! On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a quick update on the health status of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Apparently that ankle injury isn't as bad as originally thought and now bettors are back pounding the Chiefs. Definitely something to keep an eye on. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into a full-proof way to 'hack' the NFL. History says you can't win a Super Bowl when your starting quarterback takes up a huge percentage of the cap. We all know that. However, a deeper dive will tell you if you can couple a lightly-paid quarterback with stout offensive line and a ferocious defensive front then you are basically assured to be a playoff team, at worst. If said quarterback also has a ton of college experience (a la Brock Purdy with the San Francisco 49ers and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles) then your team should be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. So now that we're all aware how to 'hack' the NFL, who is going to be the next team to do it? Would the Detroit Lions dump Jared Goff for a quarterback on a rookie deal? Can the New York Jets afford to take another swing at a young signal caller after the Zach Wilson debacle? Only time will tell! On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall analysis of the NFL Divisional round playoff action. First up, following yet another disappointing playoff exit, all eyes will be on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. The guys disagree regarding exactly how much blame Dak deserves for what went wrong against the San Francisco 49ers, but they do agree that Dallas' future is murky at best given how many key players are free agents (Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz, to name a few) and how big Dak's cap number is moving forward. On the flip side, Brock Purdy did just enough to get the win for San Francisco, but with Jimmy Garoppolo set to return from his injury, are we 100% certain he won't get a quick hook if things go awry in the NFC Championship game? Moving over to the AFC, it's become abundantly clear after their blowout loss to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals that something is amiss with the Buffalo Bills. When a team flames out at home like that you have to wonder whether or not head coach Sean McDermott is still the man for the job moving forward. McDermott is easily the biggest loser of the weekend; if the Bills' ownership had any intestinal fortitude at all they'd put in a call to Sean Payton and gauge his interest in the job. Quickly looking ahead to the AFC Championship game, both guys agree as of now that the Bengals have to be the side given the uncertainty surrounding Patrick Mahomes and his gimpy ankle. We'll dive deeper into this one as the week goes on once more information becomes available regarding Mahomes' health. Finally, the J-Mac and Rob G close the show by diving deep into Daniel Jones and whether or not he should be considered the quarterback of the future for the New York Giants. Jones was mediocre at best against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he's also been working with arguably the worst receiving corps in the NFL. It was the proverbial nail in the coffin of the Tom Brady Era in Tampa Bay. Brady - along with a slew of other veterans - is on his way out the door and now it's time to speculate where he might end up. Will he link back up with Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders? Will the Brady to the Miami Dolphins rumors finally come to fruition? Will be just hang up his cleats (again) and retire? This will definitely be the biggest story of the offseason. Later, the guys share their thoughts on who they believe to be the biggest winners and losers of NFL Wild Card Weekend. A few of the answers my surprise you! Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by discussing Sean Payton's future as the NFL's Coaching Carousel continues to turn. The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be the most obvious landing spot but sometimes when something is that obvious it doesn't actually come to fruition. Perhaps a team like the Denver Broncos or Carolina Panthers can swoop in and steal Payton's services. Either way, it seems pretty clear that the NFL's ongoing courtship of Sean Payton was enough to push Jim Harbaugh back to the University of Michigan. This one got so ugly in the first few minutes it had our fearless leader channel surfing for old movies in the third quarter. The only real question to come out of this one is what's next for Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett. Bennett lacks the prototypical skills and measurables of an NFL quarterback, but as Jason notes a lot of a player's success ultimately depends on the situation he gets drafted into. If Bennett can get scooped up by a forward-thinking offensive mind, he can absolutely have a long career in the NFL. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into the Arizona Cardinals following their surprising dismissal of head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Outside of Kyler Murray (who has a prickly personality and is coming off a devastating knee injury himself), the cupboard is pretty much bare in Arizona. In fact, Jason argues that it's easily one of the worst head coaching vacancies available right now. Finally, Jason goes off the deep end by explaining how the Los Angeles Rams should use Sean McVay's impending 'semi-retirement' to tear their roster down to the studs are start trading away stars like Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp and Jalen Ramsey. In the wake of the unfortunate injury to Damar Hamlin and the uncertainty surrounding the potential rescheduling of Buffalo Bills vs Cincinnati Bengals, all signs point to the Kansas City Chiefs getting the top overall seed (and the first-round bye) in the AFC. In the NFC, it's looking increasingly likely that the New York Giants will sit their key players and essentially hand over the top overall seed to the Philadelphia Eagles. Guess we'll have to look elsewhere for playoff seeding drama this weekend. Later, J-Mac shares a little inside information surrounding Jim Harbaugh and his potential move back to the NFL. The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers appear to be the most likely landing spots for Harbaugh... assuming neither one can land Sean Payton. The billionaire owners of each franchise clearly want established guys so we could see something of a bidding war develop for Harbaugh and Payton. Finally, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) joins the show to discuss LeBron James' impressive play as of late. The Vikings aren't a legitimate threat in the NFC but that doesn't make the Packers' performance any less impressive. Green Bay is surging right now and have the look of a dark horse Super Bowl contender heading into their de facto playoff game next week against the Detroit Lions. On the flip side, the Philadelphia Eagles continue to stumble without Jalen Hurts. Two weeks ago, Philly was considered a lock to earn the top overall seed in the NFC but that is very much in jeopardy heading into Week 18. On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys' uninspiring win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night. The Titans rested all of their best players since the game was virtually meaningless in the AFC playoff race... and Dallas still didn't pull away until the fourth quarter. While everyone is jumping for joy after the Cowboys earned their 12th win of the season, the harsh reality is Dallas is playing mediocre football as of late and they're basically limping into the playoffs. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to help discuss LeBron James' public plea for help from the Los Angeles Lakers front office. It's clear that the Lakers as presently constructed aren't championship contenders - and The King isn't happy about it. While Jason and Rob agree that they'd like to see Los Angeles make a swing to make the club relevant again, they disagree on exactly how much blame the Lakers front office deserves for their current predicament. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with a very special College Football Playoff and NFL Week 17 edition of the Best Bet.  Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts! #FSRSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Who will succeed John MacArthur? Who will carry on the God-centered, biblical-grounded, expository ministry that he's built over the past half-century? John MacArthur has always had a succession plan. For decades, he's known exactly how he wants the ministry to carry on at Grace Community Church when he's gone. This episode looks at his succession plan. It also, with the help of John Piper, Sinclair Ferguson, Tony Reinke, David Gibson, and Geoffrey Chang, explores how any of us who love the church can think wisely about passing truth to the next generation.
