A time dedicated to learning and reflecting from the Word of God, with Pastor David E. Sumrall of the Cathedral of Praise Philippines.

The 1 Timothy 4:13 Project is a daily journey through Scripture, inspired by the biblical instruction: “Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.” Join Pastors David and Beverley Sumrall, undershepherds of the Cathedral of Praise, as they read through the entire Old Testament in 2025, accompanied by their daughter, Pastora Alisha Sumrall-Lozano, who will share timeless wisdom from the Book of Proverbs. Cathedral of Praise is a Christian church dedicated to Jesus and His Word, with campuses across Metro Manila and branches worldwide. 2 Kings 23:4 (ESV) - “And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest and the priests of the second order and the keepers of the threshold to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on King Josiah's reforms and the importance of maintaining a sense of what is sacred. When Josiah discovered that objects and practices associated with idol worship had been brought into the temple, he took decisive action to remove anything that dishonored God and compromised the purpose of a place dedicated to His worship. Pastor Sumrall explains that throughout Scripture, God's people were called to treat what was dedicated to Him with reverence and respect. While believers understand that God's presence is not limited to a building, places, ministries, and things set apart for His service should still be treated with honor and care. Scripture repeatedly shows that God values what is consecrated to Him. This Daily Devotion reminds us to protect what has been dedicated to God and to guard against anything that would diminish its purpose. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Acts 13:2 (ESV) - “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.'” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares an important leadership lesson from the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas. When the Holy Spirit called individuals for a specific assignment, He clearly identified those He had chosen. Although others joined the team, not everyone had been specifically called to that work. Pastor Sumrall explains that there is a difference between giving someone an opportunity and recognizing a genuine calling. Good intentions, family connections, or a desire to help are not substitutes for God's direction. When people become part of a ministry or assignment without a clear calling from God, difficulties, discouragement, and even departures can occur when challenges arise. This Daily Devotion reminds us of the importance of building teams according to God's leading rather than human preferences. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

2 Kings 18:4 (ESV) - “He removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah. And he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had made offerings to it.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall explores an important lesson from the reforms of King Hezekiah. What had once been a God-given symbol of faith became an object of worship. The bronze serpent, originally used by God to encourage faith and bring healing, had gradually become something the people honored and revered in place of God Himself. Pastor Sumrall explains that symbols can be helpful reminders of God's work, but they must never take the place of a relationship with Him. Throughout history, people have sometimes become attached to objects, traditions, or experiences that once strengthened their faith, only to elevate them beyond their proper purpose. This Daily Devotion reminds us that our faith must always be centered on God. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Acts 11:4 (ESV) - “But Peter began and explained it to them in order.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall examines how Peter responded to criticism after sharing the gospel with Gentiles. Although Peter had obeyed God and seen people come to faith in Christ, some believers criticized him because his actions challenged long-held cultural traditions. The issue was not a violation of Scripture, but a departure from customary practices that many had grown comfortable with. Pastor Sumrall explains that believers will sometimes face criticism for doing what is right, especially when God's leading challenges established traditions or expectations. Peter's response was neither defensive nor argumentative. Instead, he calmly and clearly explained what he had done, why he had done it, and the results that followed. This Daily Devotion reminds us that when faced with misunderstanding or unjust criticism, wisdom often requires patient explanation rather than conflict. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Acts 10:33 (ESV) - “So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows us the attitude of Cornelius and his household as they gathered to hear Peter speak. They did not come together for entertainment, social interaction, or personal gain. They came with a sense of expectation, recognizing that they were in the presence of God and ready to receive a message from Him. Pastor Sumrall explains that our approach to church matters. When believers gather, they should come with hearts prepared to hear God's Word, believing that He has something to say that can shape and transform their lives. The focus is not on personalities, programs, or distractions, but on receiving the truth God desires to communicate through His Word. This Daily Devotion reminds us to approach every church service with reverence, expectation, and a hunger to hear from God. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 29:25 (ESV) - “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches about the danger of living with a fear of people. Solomon warns that fearing others becomes a trap, leading people to compromise their convictions, change their behavior to gain approval, and make decisions based on the opinions of others rather than the truth of God's Word. Pastor Sumrall explains that many people spend their lives trying to please everyone around them, fearing criticism, rejection, or what others might think. Yet God never intended us to be controlled by the expectations of people. Instead, believers are called to place their trust in the Lord, finding security in His approval rather than the approval of others. This Daily Devotion reminds us that freedom comes when we stop living for people's opinions and start living in confidence before God. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 29:19, 21 (ESV) - “By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond. Whoever pampers his servant from childhood will in the end find him his heir.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares practical wisdom for employers, leaders, and anyone responsible for managing people. Solomon teaches that words alone are not enough to correct behavior. While instructions may be understood, real change often requires accountability and appropriate consequences. Leadership is not simply about giving orders; it is about creating a culture where responsibility is taken seriously. Pastor Sumrall also points out the danger of overindulging or excessively pampering those under our care. While kindness and generosity are important, leaders must be careful not to cultivate entitlement. When people are given privileges without responsibility or rewards without sacrifice, it can produce attitudes that eventually lead to rebellion rather than gratitude. This Daily Devotion reminds us that effective leadership requires both compassion and accountability. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Acts 9:15–16 (ESV) - “But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.'” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on the call of God through the life of the Apostle Paul. Unlike a job offer filled with promises of comfort and benefits, God's call is a summons to serve Christ faithfully, whatever the cost. From the very beginning, Paul was made aware that following God's purpose for his life would involve sacrifice, hardship, and perseverance. Pastor Sumrall explains that true ministry is not about status, popularity, or a glamorous lifestyle. The call of God is about reaching people with the gospel and being willing to pay the price required to fulfill that assignment. God does not hide the challenges of ministry; He calls men and women who are committed to Christ above personal comfort. 1 Kings 19:4 (ESV) - “But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, ‘It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.'” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall examines the story of Elijah and the powerful effects of discouragement. Even after experiencing a great victory, Elijah became overwhelmed, exhausted, and discouraged. His words, perspective, and outlook on life were deeply affected by what he was feeling. Pastor Sumrall explains that discouragement often causes people to focus on the negative, forget God's recent victories, and see situations through a distorted lens. Elijah believed he was alone and that everyone was against him, even though God had already been working through many others. Discouragement changed how he viewed both himself and the circumstances around him. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that when discouragement comes, we should be careful about the conclusions we draw and the words we speak. Sometimes the first steps toward recovery are simple but important: rest, nourishment, and allowing God to renew our perspective. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Acts 5:12–14 (ESV) - “Now many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon's Portico. None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high esteem. And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on the pattern of the early church and the importance of keeping Jesus at the center of ministry. The apostles were focused on proclaiming Christ, demonstrating His power through signs and wonders, and calling people to genuine faith. As people believed in Jesus, they were added to the community of believers. Pastor Sumrall explains that the mission of the church is not simply to attract crowds or build events, but to fulfill the Great Commission by leading people to a personal relationship with Christ. The early church grew because believers boldly preached Jesus, and those who responded in faith became part of the fellowship of the church. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that the church is strongest when it stays centered on Christ and His mission. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Acts 4:29–30 (ESV) - “And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on one of the great prayers of the early church. Faced with opposition from religious leaders, government authorities, and the culture around them, the believers did not respond with fear or retreat. Instead, they recognized God's sovereignty and prayed for greater boldness to continue proclaiming Jesus. Pastor Sumrall explains that opposition has always been directed primarily against Christ Himself. While the world may tolerate religion or spirituality, it often resists the reality, authority, and power of Jesus. Yet the early church understood that difficult times were not a reason to back down but an opportunity to trust God more deeply and expect Him to move powerfully. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that when challenges arise, our response should be faith, courage, and prayer. Rather than withdrawing in fear, we can ask God to empower us to speak His Word boldly and to demonstrate His power through lives transformed by Jesus. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 28:1 (ESV) - “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall explores the contrast between fear and confidence found in Proverbs. While it is wise to be watchful and discerning, Scripture speaks of a deeper fear that causes people to retreat from opportunities, responsibilities, and advancement even when no real threat exists. Pastor Sumrall explains that a clear conscience produces courage. Those who walk uprightly before God can move forward with confidence, embracing new opportunities and challenges without fear of exposure or failure. In contrast, hidden sin and unresolved issues often create fear, causing people to withdraw when doors of opportunity begin to open. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that righteousness produces boldness. As we walk honestly before God, we can face the future with confidence, step through open doors, and pursue the opportunities He places before us without fear. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

1 Kings 11:2, 4 (ESV) - “You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. ... “For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches an important truth from the life of Solomon: love does not make something right. Solomon genuinely loved the women he married, yet God had clearly warned him not to pursue those relationships because they would eventually draw his heart away from the Lord. Pastor Sumrall explains that God's commands are never arbitrary. When God tells us not to do something, it is because He already sees the destination of that path. Solomon ignored God's warning, and although the consequences were not immediate, the outcome was exactly as God had foretold, his heart was gradually turned away from wholehearted devotion to God. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that feelings should never override God's Word. True wisdom is trusting that God's instructions are for our good and recognizing that He always knows where every path will lead. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 27:18 (ESV) - “Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who guards his master will be honored.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares a timeless principle about work, stewardship, and faithfulness. Scripture teaches that those who diligently protect and promote the interests of those they serve will be rewarded. God honors employees who work with integrity, responsibility, and a genuine desire to see their organization succeed. Pastor Sumrall explains that many people view their job as merely completing tasks, but a biblical work ethic goes beyond that. Faithful workers care about the well-being of the company, seek to contribute to its growth, and handle their responsibilities as good stewards. Such attitudes not only benefit the workplace but also position believers for God's blessing and favor. Pastor Sumrall reminds us that faithfulness in the workplace is a spiritual principle. As we serve with excellence and protect the interests entrusted to us, God sees our labor and promises to reward those who work with integrity and diligence. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

Proverbs 27:12 (ESV) - “The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches that faith is never an excuse for ignoring reality. A prudent person recognizes potential dangers, thinks ahead, and takes wise precautions. True faith does not deny facts—it acknowledges them while continuing to trust God. Pastor Sumrall explains that throughout Scripture, people of faith faced difficult realities without allowing those realities to control their belief in God's promises. Wisdom and faith work together. While faith trusts God's provision and protection, wisdom helps us prepare, plan, and respond responsibly to the challenges ahead. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

1 Kings 8:10–11 (ESV) In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on the powerful moment when the glory of God filled Solomon's Temple so strongly that the priests could no longer continue ministering. He explains that this is the essence of true revival, God revealing His presence in such a real and overwhelming way that human effort fades into the background. Pastor Sumrall reminds believers that revival is not about performance, entertainment, or outward presentation, but about the genuine presence of God among His people. When God's presence becomes real and tangible, lives are transformed, hearts are awakened, and the church is empowered to reach the world with greater impact. Proverbs 27:3–4 (ESV) In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches about the destructive power of jealousy. While anger and wrath can already cause great damage, Scripture warns that jealousy is even more dangerous because it drives people to actions that can deeply harm relationships, trust, and lives. Pastor Sumrall explains that jealousy often grows from a desire to possess someone else's position, success, or life. Left unchecked, it can lead to betrayal, manipulation, and destruction. He reminds believers to be wise and discerning about the people around them while also guarding their own hearts from envy and comparison. Reject jealousy, walk in contentment, gratitude, and seek wisdom in dealing with relationships. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon

2 Samuel 16:20–22 (ESV) In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows us about rebellion and the way bitterness can grow within a person's heart. As Absalom sought counsel against his father David, the advice he received pushed him beyond the point of decency and reconciliation in order to secure the loyalty of others. Pastor Sumrall explains that rebellion often drives people to cross lines intentionally. Harsh actions, insults, and extreme behavior are sometimes used to convince others that there can no longer be peace or restoration, forcing people to choose sides and deepen division. As you watch this episode, gain wisdom about the nature of rebellion, learn to recognize how bitterness influences people's actions, and understand the importance of guarding your heart from attitudes that destroy peace and reconciliation. ---- Don't forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon
