Judges 11:1–2 (ESV) - “Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty warrior, but he was the son of a prostitute. Gilead was the father of Jephthah. And Gilead's wife also bore him sons. And when his wife's sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out and said to him, ‘You shall not have an inheritance in our father's house, for you are the son of another woman.'” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reminds us that the circumstances of our birth do not determine our destiny. Though Jephthah was rejected and driven away by his own family, God still had a plan for his life and raised him up to become a great leader in Israel. Judges 9:2 (ESV) - “Say in the ears of all the leaders of Shechem, ‘Which is better for you, that all seventy of the sons of Jerubbaal rule over you, or that one rule over you?' Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches the danger of choosing loyalty to people over what is right. He explains how Abimelech gained leadership not because of righteousness or God's will, but because of family ties, showing how relationships can be misused to justify wrong decisions.
