I'm going to talk to you about something that I have intimate knowledge of, and that is breaking the spirit of heaviness and taking on the spirit of joy. The spirit of heaviness is like a kind of drudgery that comes upon you. It is as if somebody threw a cloak of despondency over you. I suppose you could describe it as 'spiritual depression', and it is so deep that it can actually affect you physically. Just Hebrews 12:12 talks about the hands hanging down, and the knees being weak; you actually begin to experience certain phenomena that I believe are attributed to how your spirit would be within you during this period - it manifests in your body. Often, it's absolutely inexplicable, and not even the circumstances that are around you warrant the way that you are feeling. The Spirit of prophecy has always pointed man to God's goodness towards man and the good news that Jesus paid the price for our sins on the Cross. In the days of Jesus Christ on earth, people received what He could do for them because they believed He was from God and had the power to answer their prayers. This usually happened because they had heard about what he did in similar or even unrelated circumstances. They had faith in him that He could repeat it. God desires that his children rise to heights of relevance in life where they can do great things for His kingdom and influence the world. Thus, God doesn't run the world. Instead, He runs His Body and the Body in turn, runs the world. This is God's eternal counsel. He does this by promoting his children into such heights of relevance where they can carry out his will on the earth- for in this, is he glorified. However, to do this, we must not only dream but be skillful in interpreting these dreams. Have you ever really stopped to think about the atmosphere of the room that you are in. What about now? Often we enter and exit places and take no notice of what is going on around us, no awareness of what the atmosphere is of the place that we are in. Sometimes, we are so concerned with the thing that we are doing we miss the subtleties of our environment, the foreground consumes so much of our perspective that we miss important realities in the background. Changing the atmosphere is all about being intentional. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 Prayer and supplication are closely related and interconnected as they are both forms of reverence and invocation to God. However, supplication is a type of prayer making them somewhat distinct. What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:9-11 So what is the deal? Scriptures and in fact human experiences have shown how powerful the spoken word, that is confessions, can work for man's good. However, they may be used as whips against men. The book of Job identifies it as the scourge of the tongue, thus, the words of men can plant weeds in the garden of your life upon which you have planted words expectantly. Nonetheless, Isaiah says you can condemn such negative use of the tongue and show them to be wrong, thus exempt yourself from their operations. You frustrate the grace of God when you try to earn what has been freely given, when you think that you must do more for God to bless you, or that you must pay the price for it. The Almighty God desires that you know the things that have been freely given to you. He wants you to receive them freely although it cost Him His Son, but He wants you to receive the blessings freely. Just like the prodigal son, who deserved nothing, but received everything. God wants you to receive freely. He cannot give it to you based on your works because if it is by works, it is no longer by grace. We do not know when God will visit us. But we need be prepared for God's visitation! You don't decide the time of breakthroughs, and miracles, but we can miss our time of visitation simply by faults in our relationship with people. An interesting truth is this: you determine your life experiences by your words! In fact, it is our unique ability to choose and speak words that distinguishes man from the rest of God's creation. Man is created in God's image and it was not just thoughts but words that God used to create us and the universe in which we live. When He said, “Light be,” light was. Words are the way God works. Hebrews 11:3 describes this operating principle of creation this way. Life may throw some disappointments at you. You may sometimes give your best and almost be made to feel you gave just too much. You may even have labored so hard in a relationship, contribute greatly to the development of another man's vision, increase the fortunes of your employer and then you got edged out or treated in a way truly undeserving. Your immediate natural response will almost be a feeling of loss, pain and disappointment which may sometimes lead to feelings of regret, pain and sometimes depression. How do you get some healing, turn it to your gain, making it work out a blessing for you? How does God expect you to deal with this? At some points in our lives, we all find that dissatisfaction in our souls—a longing for something better and more—which doesn't leave us until it finds expression. We are often unable to make sense of it, let alone interpret it as God expects. Unfortunately, some people never interpret this communication successfully and are therefore stagnated. Yet, this dissatisfaction if properly understood and interpreted, followed through with absolute trust in God will open a man to the next thing God is doing with his life. “I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons" Psalms 16:7 Sometimes the Lord allows difficult seasons that offer no answers or solutions, so we might find ourselves wholly submitted to Him, trusting in His care, dependent on His leading. In such seasons, we are left to decide whether we would take the assurance of His Word as a lifeline or otherwise. Occasionally, people wish they knew or approached some relationships with hindsight only after having suffered pain or loss. However, many are glad they examined these four things before creating associations with people. Whether platonic, emotional or with financial implications, every human relationship is spiritual and should be approach it with some circumspect. The promised blessings of the Bible are the good which God has purposed and promised and He never says No to faith on a promise because He intends that the Christian life should be lived out in the light of the superiority of His promised blessings in comparison to the “blessings” an ungodly world holds out to us. The first coming of Jesus Christ and the coming of the Holy Spirit were responses to promises. His second coming will also be a response to a promise. Of course, material prosperity is a part of our inheritances in Jesus Christ. However, recognizing that wisdom and discernment are also gifts from God is crucial to effectively manage the prosperity that comes from God as part of the Blessing. This is because prosperity not properly managed may lead a man into a season of poverty even though he be under the new covenant. Your emotions are not bad or fickle. Emotions are a good gift from God. He created us to be feeling creatures. Our wise creator embedded emotions in our humanity to serve a useful purpose in our lives. Just as our minds enable us to think and our wills enable us to choose, so our emotions enable us to respond. However, turns out, many of us have swallowed popular myths about our feelings. Getting through fear is possible. The problem is that most people cling to their fears because they believe it's a part of who they are. If you aren't ready to face your fears, you probably won't transcend them.
