Listen as Associate Pastor, Peter Frey, preaches from Acts 10.
Dive into Part 2 of our powerful "Grace and Truth" series! This message, "Behold the Grace of God," delivered by Pastor Mark A. Stroud, unpacks a vital truth: the immense cost of our forgiveness and the divine purpose behind it. Today, we're reminded that Jesus came to mend the image of God that was broken by humanity's fall. Through His one perfect sacrifice, we've been completely forgiven and brought back into reconciliation with God. Jesus took on the full weight of our sins, paving the way for us to have a right and intimate relationship with our Creator. Our prayer is that as you watch, you too will embrace God's incredible grace and find true restoration for your soul. Visit us at Kingdomrock.org

The Portage church of Christ is a group of pre-denominational Christians that are striving to serve the Lord together. Our goal is to please God, and we believe that the best way to do that is to follow the pattern that was established by the churches in the first century and revealed in the New Testament. We have no creed or doctrine except the Bible and we follow the Bible only. We strive for unity in the teaching of New Testament doctrine. Our congregation is not part of, or subject to, any larger man-made religious organization. We are a completely autonomous congregation. We are locally governed, just as the church in the first century was. How does one becomes a member of this church congregation? The exact same way as seen in the Biblical accounts. On the day of Pentecost following Jesus' resurrection, people who repented and were baptized were saved (Acts 2:38) and the saved were added to the church (Acts 2:47). These saved people were members of the body, or church (Colossians 1:18). To become a Christian, the Bible teaches: Hear the gospel (Rom. 10:17) Believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God (John 8:24, 58, Heb. 11:6) Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3, 5) Confess Jesus as Lord (Matt. 10:32-33, Rom. 10:9-10) Be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16) Remain Faithful to Christ (Rev. 2:10, 2 Tim 4:7-8)
Prayer is the great link of faith between the soul of the saint and the promise of God's future grace.
Today we looked at John 13 and explored, with Matt, how Jesus reveals himself here in this passage as the God from Leviticus, who has always and will always be the God who offers us grace, the God who makes us clean, the God who loves us and makes a way for us to come to Him.
God promises not merely that we will find grace “to help in time of need,” but that the grace is well-timed by God.
Moment by moment, God supplies the strength in which we serve. He does this because the ongoing, inexhaustible supplier of power gets the glory.
You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Saviour attractive. For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you. (Titus 2.1-15, NIV)
Whatever added signs and wonders God may show to amplify our witness to Christ, they will come through his grace and power.
Believe the promise that in this day God will be at work in you to will and work for his good pleasure.
Paul prayed for grace for the day, trusted that it would come with power, and then acted with all his might.
The distinguishing grace of God is seen in saving those people whom He has sovereignly singled out to be His high favorites. By "distinguishing" we mean that grace discriminates, makes differences, chooses some and passes by others. It was distinguishing grace which selected Abraham from the midst of his idolatrous neighbors and made him "the friend of God." It was distinguishing grace which saved "publicans and sinners," but said of the religious Pharisees, "Let them alone" (Mat 15:14).

In Ecclesiastes 3, we encounter one of the most well-known passages in scripture that poetically encapsulates the ebb and flow of life. It speaks to us of the natural rhythms that God has ordained: there is a 'time for everything,' from birth to death, planting to uprooting, mourning to dancing. This passage reminds us that our experiences, both joyful and challenging, are woven into the divine tapestry of time. God has placed eternity in our hearts, yet we are limited in understanding the full scope of God's plan. This paradox invites us to lean into our faith, recognizing that while our time on earth is finite, we are part of an eternal design. We must be present in our current season, trusting God's sovereignty and finding joy in every moment as we strive to do good and glorify God.

Like the priest and the Levite we can find laws and good reasons to treat one another bad badly and not show compassion and mercy. Jesus calls us to not miss the forest because of the trees. Our laws are meant to help us live together in a loving community. It's helpful to look at those we see as our enemies, or the ones deserving mistreatment, and realize that if not for the grace of God there too go I.
God will do whatever it takes to save his beloved.

Even if we know that God is good to us, we may believe that his goodness is constrained. But Jesus is at pains to help us not feel that way.

Sermon - Mark
The experience of future grace often depends on whether we will take refuge in God, or whether we will run for cover to other shelters.

Whenever we sense the slightest rise of covetousness in our hearts, we must turn on it and fight it with all our might using the weapons of faith.
How would you answer if Paul asked you, "What do you have that you did not receive?" A proud person will answer one way and a humble person quite differently. Your answer matters, because God will pour out grace upon you if you are a humble person.Join me for today's Daily Word & Prayer to learn more.Scripture Used in Today's Message1 Corinthians 4:7James 1:17
The work of God is a work of grace. How does God's grace work? How can we play a role in the work of God's "amazing grace"?
Grace is not simply the pardon of our sins; it is the power to press on in obedience. We trust in God's ever-arriving gracious power to enable us to do what we should.

God's anger must be released by a stiff safety lock, but his mercy has a hair trigger. He is infinitely energetic with unbounded and unending enthusiasm to do us good.
Why does faith not nullify the grace of God? Because faith calls all attention to grace and magnifies it, rather than nullifies it.
When Paul talks about the riches of God's inheritance, is God the one inheriting, or are we? Pastor John offers four clues from the context.
