If grace is the goodness of God, then it seems obvious that some goodness can be resisted while others can't. Think about a baby being born. If the mother and father want to bring the baby out of the womb there's nothing the baby can do to stop it. Or consider an unconscious man whose heart has stopped or is beating irregularly.. He will find it impossible to resist the emergency surgery or the doctor shocking his heart back into a normal rhythm. But other types of grace can be resisted. That same child years later can refuse to celebrate his birthday with his family and can sulk and pout even if his parents force him to come to the party. The man whose heart has been restarted can refuse to take his prescribed medicines or to exercise as he should. It is similar in the Christian life. Scripture talks about man resisting the grace of God. But it also talks about man being born again and the Spirit blowing where it will. It talks about God giving man a new heart and replacing the heart of stone with one of flesh. If an earthly parent can show irresistible grace to their child then it is hard to argue that the Father of Spirits cannot do the same. For those who hate to think of God as God, as the One who sovereignly rules in heaven, irresistible grace or effectual calling is considered something immoral. But scripture says that it is about the glory of God. It is about God choosing to show compassion to those who He wants to show compassion. We are saved by grace and if you don't want to receive grace from God, you should question if you are saved. So let's start off with a question: Is there a biblical reason why we would want saving grace to be resistible?Timecodes00:00:00 Intro00:08:04 Why Grace has to be Irresistible00:12:29 Fallen Man Cannot Understand Good Gifts00:21:25 Hate the Prerogative Belonging to God00:26:14 This Grace is Given Throughout a Believers' Life00:34:24 It is God's Work and God's Purpose00:38:59 Irresistible Grace from Scripture00:43:41 Picture of Jonah00:48:23 Example of Those that did not Receive Grace00:52:51 Resisting the Holy SpiritProduction of Reformation Baptist Church of Youngsville, NCPermanent Hosts - Dan Horn, Charles Churchill and Joshua HornTechnical Director - Timothy KaiserTheme Music - Gabriel Hudelson
Wesley Wright Lighthouse Bible Church Sunday, March 15, 2026 Do Not Receive the Grace of God in Vain 2Co 6:1-2 We are co-laborers with God, Paul writes (2 Corinthians 6:1). We are working together with Him. Sound familiar? 1Co 3:1-11 Grace is by definition undeserved. You can't do anything to justify what God has done for us. What you can do is point the salvation we have now in Christ alone. What does it mean to possibly receive the grace of God in vain (2 Corinthians 6:2)? Instead of enjoying reconciliation in Christ, you seek to adhere to the old law or your works, or anything else. Paul mentioned this concept before: 1Co 3:3-11 Paul and Barnabas dealt with people who refused to believe in... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1780

We're launching a new series, “This Is My Story,” focused on the grace God has shown us through Jesus—and why every believer has a story worth sharing. From Romans 5, we see how God's saving grace brings peace with Him, gives us access to His presence, secures our salvation, and fills us with unshakable hope. If you've experienced that grace, this message will challenge you not only to remember your story—but to tell it.
Has “grace” lost its wonder? In this episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef challenges the modern misconceptions that have watered grace down into mere politeness—or made it unnecessary in an age of self-sufficiency and “rights.” The Truth is far more stunning: we are sinners who could never earn our way back to God. Only Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and His righteousness credited to us can justify us before the Father (see John 3:16).Dr. Youssef then brings this Gospel reality into your everyday battles. When trials hit, anxiety rises, or temptation threatens your fellowship with God, grace becomes more than a doctrine—it becomes your lifeline. Through prayer, God steadies you with peace and security, goes before you into life's battles, and provides victory that doesn't come from your strength, but from His.If you're facing pressure, fear, or exhaustion, this devotional will lift your eyes to the promise you can cling to today: God's grace is sufficient—and His power is revealed in your weakness.Scripture Focus: Psalm 20:7 The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. If today's devotional stirred a question, burden, or need for prayer, you don't have to walk through it alone.
The finished work of Christ on the Cross was a great achievement providing a perfect basis for our eternal salvation. On the Cross, Christ provided a perfect salvation for all men, so that we might be saved from sin and all its effects. It consists of 3 aspects: Propitiation (the God-ward aspect), Reconciliation (the man-ward aspect), and Redemption (the sin-ward aspect). We study these 3 aspects in detail, and point out that they are all accomplished in Christ, through His Blood, and only become effectual for us, when we receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour, for only then are we put (baptised) into Christ, where these truths become reality. Explore the significance of being made righteous through faith and how it enables us to walk in the fullness of God's grace.

Texts: Genesis 25:19-34; Romans 9:6-16; Hebrews 12:15-17 God's Miraculous Grace (Gen. 25:19-21) God's promise of continues as He answers Isaac's prayer for children. God's miraculous grace is displayed in giving Isaac and Rebekah children in the midst of years of barrenness. God's Electing Grace (Gen. 25:22-28; Rom. 9:6-16) In this passage, there are two sons with two predetermined destinies. God chooses who will be His own – not based on human merit, but solely by His grace. The doctrine of election eliminates pride, encourages gratitude, and propels evangelism. God's Warning Grace (Gen. 25:29-34; Heb. 12:15-17) Esau sells his birthright for a meal in the backdrop of Jacob's deception. This serves to warn us against trusting our own deceitful desires for the instant gratification of our flesh.

In this message from Gospel People, Paul opens his heart to the Corinthian church and shows us how deeply our relationships with others are shaped by our relationship with God. From integrity and sincerity to love and pastoral care, Paul's words remind us that gospel-centered living transforms how we speak, how we lead, and how we love. When our consciences are anchored in God's grace, our relationships can be marked by honesty, humility, and sacrificial care—even when things are hard. For more information about Integrity Church, visit our website, http://liveintegritychurch.org Connect with us on social media throughout the week to stay up to date on events and things happening at Integrity! To Everything a Season: Lutheran Reflections Through the Church Year
In this episode we continue discussing God's saving grace, this time looking at its attributes.
Irresistable grace does not mean grace cannot be resisted. It means that when God chooses, he can and will overcome that resistance.
The same God who feeds billions of birds every hour around the world will take care of you.
What act could be more one-sidedly free and non-negotiated than one person raising another from the dead? This is the meaning of grace.
God is not the God of some grace. He is the God of all grace — including the infinite, inexhaustible stores of future grace that we need to endure to the end.
God gives both the sustaining grace we need in times of trouble, and the suffering which makes us depend on his grace.
Be thankful for the past grace from the last year, and be confident in the future grace for the new year.
When God works in our hearts by the blood of Christ, we feel and think and act in ways more pleasing to him.
