Episode 181 Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Music Playlist Time Track Time Start Introduction 05:42 00.00 1. Cornelius Cardew, “Treatise: String Orchestra (2025). The first of three AI interpretations of a piece by Cardew composed between 1963 and 1967. The work was written as a graphic score. Produced by the team of Professor Shlomo Dubnov of the University of California at San Diego, they used as the basis for an improvisation Cardew's graphical musical score comprising 193 pages of lines, symbols, and various geometric or abstract shapes that largely stray from conventional musical notation (pages 1 to 33 were used). The recordings from Dubnov's team interpreted this graphic score with the help of Open AI's ChatGPT 40 and a program they developed themselves called Music Latent Diffusion Model (MusicLDM), an AI-like algorithm. The recordings show how AI can transform visual stimuli into sound and expand on their interpretation in an experimental music composition. This version is arranged for digital string orchestra. 11:23 05:54 2. Cornelius Cardew, “Treatise” Sinewave” (2025). This version from Dubrov's lab was arranged for sinewave generator. 11:15 17:10 3. Cornelius Cardew, “Treatise: Experimental” (2025). This version from Dubrov's lab was arranged for a mix of instruments defined as “experimental” by the team. 11:32 28:24 4. Valérie Philippin, “Extraits de recherche” (2024). Vocal interaction experiment conducted with vocalist Valérie Philippin while she was in artistic residence at European Research Council REACH project (ERC) at IRCAM. AI interaction in real-time using the Somax2 program. Voice: Valérie Philippin, Somax2 & electronics: Mikhail Malt. 03:52 39:48 5. Horse Lords and The Who/Men, “Zero Degree Machine” (2023). Horse Lords Concert at ERC REACH. Music using Somax2 to interact with the performers and add new parts and instruments in real time. If you hear something other than a guitar, drums, bass, and sax, then it was created by Somax2. You might detect loops of instruments (e.g., saxophone) as well because Somax2 adds to the mix. Horse Lords (Max Eilbacher bass/electronics, Sam Haberman percussion, Owen Gardner guitar, Andrew Bernstein percussion/saxophone). The Who/Men: Gérard Assayag, Mikhail Malt, Reach interactive AI: Somax2; Marco Fiorini, Reach interactive AI: Somax2 and electric guitar; Manuel Poletti, computer music production at IRCAM). The Who/Men are providing guidance for Somax2 in real-time, operating different instances of the program on their laptops. 18:45 43:42 6. PintoCreation “AI-generated Sci-Fi Sci-Fi and Visual Storytelling” (2025). This is just an example of how task-specific AI is being used to generate videos with electronic music soundtracks. This is an excerpt from one of the soundtracks for the many videos they have generated for their YouTube channel. 07:54 01:02:26 7. Artificial Intelligence Music, “Melodic Techno” (2025). Excerpt of AI-generated techno music found on this YouTube site. They explain that the music found here “was composed by an AI, meticulously trained on the nuances of this captivating genre.' I have no idea what AI engine was used, but this is just one example of how many music producers are getting onto the AI train. 06:51 01:10:17 8. Atmoscapia, “Calm Ambient” (2025). This is a purpose-built generative ambient music creator for “Films, Games, YouTube, and Creative Projects.” Billed as an “Instant Ambient Music Generator For Content Creators,” you use it by selecting styles and lengths up to an hour long. In this case, I chose the style “Calm, Meditative, Dreamy.” Two other categories are also provided for “Cinematic, Dramatic, Emotional” and “Dark, Horror, Suspense.” Those are the extent of the current choices in the free version. It delivers a soundtrack that you can download. 10:00 01:17:08 9. Thom Holmes, “Thom DeepAI Noise Music” (2025). In an attempt to generate something more experimental using an AI system, I turned to DeepAI and gave it the following instructions: “Experimental, noise sounds. No melody, no harmony, no rhythm. Randomized intervals of silence. Randomized mood swings.” It was short as I was not using the premium version, but it came closer than some other AI programs to creating a work that was more closely aligned with experimental. 1:45 01:41:49 Opening background music: Ambient music generated by the Atmoscapia AI system using the “Dark, Horror, Suspense” setting (excerpt). Introduction to the podcast voiced by Anne Benkovitz. Additional opening, closing, and other incidental music by Thom Holmes. This 10-min meditative doodling practice is here to help you get out of creative spiraling, and soften the overwhelm you might be experiencing. (This is a re-aired episode from 2024). About mePascale Côté is a creativity guide, therapeutic arts practitioner, artist, and writer who helps creatives meet, understand, and express themselves by guiding them to work *with* their (creative, complex, unconventional) nature instead of against it. She helps artists, visionaries, disruptors and earth stewards break free from the vortex of overthinking and move forward with their bold, rebellious ideas. Her work challenges conventional norms, inviting creatives to explore what's possible when they release outdated narratives and embrace their true, authentic expression. Pascale believes that art is a powerful vehicle for both individual and collective change when it's grounded in truth—created outside the rigid systems that stifle our creative spirit.About the podcastCreative minds are the architects of a new world, and their art holds the keys to reimagining our reality. The challenge is, creative minds often spend just as much time crafting self-limiting narratives as they do creating their art. Dear Creative Mind is a space for creative liberation—a pathway out of the cycle of overthinking, burnout, and stagnation. This podcast is for artists & creative entrepreneurs where Pascale, creativity guide, shares grounding meditations, gentle coaching guidance and heartfelt conversations with inspiring artists. The podcast explores the real challenges that come with being creative—overthinking, self-doubt, burnout—and how to navigate them while staying true to our vision.Get support for your creative mind1:1 support for creativesNew: email guidanceThe Creative Liberation PortalFree tool: The Creative Confidence ToolkitBook a free clarity callJoin community eventsReceive the monthly prompts on SubstackExplore the full websiteFind me on Instagram A special thank you to Alexandra Moreno for the original music of the podcast.

When I first came across my guest on social media, I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. His interactions with the animals wasn't only unique and intriguing, but I found a sense of calm come over me. Plume was lucky enough to have been surrounded by women all of his life. These same women are a big part of how and why he's on this journey now. I'm so happy we were able to have a conversation, not only about his new bond with his animal audience, but he's also lending a different perspective on life and what's important. My guest's videos have a very calming effect on his audience. Yet, in seeing how the animals interact with Plume brings a smile to my face and a more human perspective to the magic of the beautiful four and two legged creatures he interacts with.Currently, Valerie, Plume's mother, is part of his production crew, as his camera-woman. She has always been very supportive of his work. His maternal grandmother, Paule and her three sisters helped raise Plume since a child. Paule is still very present in his life today. She plays the piano and has a wonderful sense of humor and attitude about life. And we also had an opportunity to hear about Elsa, Plume's girlfriend, who Plume says is a constant source of support and love. As a creative, Plume says "it can be hard to believe in yourself and in what you're doing," and Elsa has always been there to encourage him.Growing up in France, Plume was introduced to cows nearby to his grandmother's home. HIs grandmother's sister, who knew the cows the best, reassured him at a young age, that they were friendly, kind and curious. One of the more rare and distinct animals that Plume has encountered is an okapi. An okapi is not a true "mix" of animals but is the only living relative of the giraffe.I thoroughly enjoyed meeting my guest and sharing his story of bountiful love and support from the many important women in his life. And my guest is also very gracious and sincere when he says he's so fortunate to get get the opportunity to share his love of music with these beautiful creatures in the preserves and his human audience around the world wide. Many of us come to meditation with subtle expectations—hoping for stillness, clarity, or a familiar sense of calm. When our experience doesn't match those hopes, we often assume something is missing or that we're doing it wrong. In this episode, Craig offers a meditative exploration of what it means to meet the moment as it is. Rather than trying to fix or improve our experience, he invites us to try on a simple but radical stance: to relate to the moment as already whole and complete.Through guided practice, you're invited to investigate what unfolds when you stop resisting your present-moment experience and begin to rest in the possibility that nothing needs to change. To access the full transcript of this episode and discover more resources, visit the episode page on MeditationChangesEverything.com. This is a talk from a 2025 Australian tour.In this talk Acharya das explores the concept of the soul and the journey of self-realization from a Vedic perspective. He explains that according to Vedic understanding, we don't "have" souls - we ARE souls, eternal spiritual beings temporarily residing in physical bodies. He emphasizes that identifying with our temporary physical bodies leads to suffering, while understanding our true spiritual nature is the foundation of genuine spirituality and happiness. Acharya das defines materialism not as the hunger for material things, but as the idea that "I am material" i.e. I am my body, and contrasts materialism with spirituality (understanding oneself as an eternal spiritual being having a temporary material experience). He discusses how self-centeredness, which has become increasingly normalized in modern society, leads to unhappiness, while acts of kindness align with our true spiritual nature. He criticizes how technology, particularly smartphones and social media, has exacerbated self-centeredness and contributed to rising mental health issues. The talk concludes by advocating for meditation as immersion in transcendental sound, which can help purify the heart and mind, bringing clarity and helping us break free from material illusions. He presents the journey of self-realization and God-realization as the true purpose of human life.
In today's episode, I wanted to make a rendition of the James Horner Rocketeer theme in time for what would have been Dave Steven's 70th birthday (7/29). At this the time of this podcast release, that is a few days in the past, so we are going back in time a bit. I can't imagine trying to improve upon the score as it is, so I decided I'd alter it a bit to fit the mood or state of mind I envisioned when I pictured this whole project - Cliff soaring towards the horizon on a cloudless, moonlight night, totally at peace with his surroundings (as odd as that might seem to an outsider). I imagined that if one could erase the G-forces, the woosh of the wind, and the chill of the night air, things might feel almost slow, balletic, a real Peter Pan moment. So that's why I made this version more meditative in nature and called it "...the closest I'll ever get to heaven, Mr. Hughes."The fully mixed track plays in full at the end of the episode. Besides the youtube video above, I have also put it up for streaming / download on my bandcamp page. This track is meant to be free and is done as a homage to a great comic book artist and a great composer, both of which are sadly no longer with us. In the final episode of this season, Thomas speaks to the role of sincerity in prayer life. Many of us have a tendency to think we've got to do it all—that if we're going to grow spiritually, we've got to do it by the sweat of our brow. But in a world of Grace, a little sincerity goes a very long way indeed. 7-day meditation retreat (September 30th - October 7th) 3-day meditation retreat (December 11th-13th)

Sonia C. is joining in from London, and she is loving the chance to live life in the moment. It's one of her favorite forms of meditation! From resetting a frayed nervous system to focusing inward rather than on the chaos that is swirling around all of us, living in the moment brings bursts of creativity and connects us to our portals of intuitive listening. This week's theme is: Find your personal lane of meditation. Highlights: Nothing beats living in the moment. [:30] Sonia T.'s intuitive listening led her to the thrift shop! [4:35] Nothing calms a barking dog like meditation. [6:34] What if I can't sit still long enough to meditate? [8:18] Transmissions of peace from Nana. [11:15] Sonia C.'s update from London. [13:26] Scan the field and listen to those vibrations. [18:54] Intention first, then connection. [26:04] Engage your senses and your intuition will follow. [31:13] Tool of the Week: Get a ribbon and move your body! [43:25] Question of the Week: Is the voice that guides me back to calm my spirit? [48:46] The world feels so unstable right now, but we've got the perfect way to center yourself and quiet all of the noise. Get lost in the moment. Go for a walk, spend some time in your garden or yard, get creative. Meditation in its simplest form happens not when we are thinking, but when we are feeling. When you give yourself a moment that is worth getting lost in, you're giving yourself permission to dive into your intuitive portals. Tune in and you'll hear exactly what the vibrations are telling you. Whether it's time to lean in or get out, being an intuitive, connected soul means that you have the power to honor your true self. Moving your hands will allow you to ease into a flow state. Clean your house, create art, or sit outside and listen with your body. We are all connected, through music, through heartbeats, and through vibrations. It's time to get out of your head and into your body. Are you ready to tune in? Nicholas Jamerson is regarded as one of the finer songwriters in the current Americana, folk and country scene. His heartfelt lyrics of love, loss and lamentation born from the hills of Eastern Kentucky were the foundation of the success of Sundy Best, his award-winning band and collaboration with Kris Bentley. But after its temporary break-up/hiatus, Jamerson continued writing and recording as a solo act, often backed by the Morning Jays, his support band. He's churned out six studio and two live albums over the last decade, the newest of which, The Narrow Way, dropped June 20. It is the third album in a trilogy preceded by The Wild Frontier (2020) and Peace Mountain (2023). Jamerson joined Roots Music Rambler this week to talk about the new album, which he acknowledged is a bit meditative about life, love and loss. He also talked about his new status as an elder statesman in the folk/singer-songwriter space, how he balances projects like Sundy Best which still tours, and his past as a high school and college football star. You'll notice Jamerson repeats the notion that songs and songwriting are his “work.” We're lucky to be able to experience the craftsmanship. Frank and Falls also file their 2025 Americana Music Association Awards Ballot and have their normal Pickin' the Grinnin' choices of recommendations of new music for you to experience. Father Richard Rohr shared at a recent gathering that his spiritual practice nowadays is to, “ look at something till I love it. It doesn't take very long.” What could this mean? Visionary artist Delphine Diallo joins me in Sacred Conversation. We cover the cosmos in this one. AI as both a colonizing and liberating instrument. History as a mirror. Ancestral remembrance. Embodied spirituality. Bruce Lee. And so much more. May this soul medicine nourish you. You may find Delphine's work on Instagram at @delphinediallo.....Sacred Conversations are periodic episodes of my podcast in which I reach out to people whose work and life inspire me, and we simply have a soulful conversation. Prerecorded for video and available on my YouTube channel. No scripted, transactional, extractive, one-sided interview dynamic. Just two people with a care and curiosity for each other's journey and creative work, asking each other about what stirs in us, and enjoying the ancient, mutually healing art of listening deeply. Again, not an interview. A spiritual communion. The idea is for us to relax and enjoy an organic conversation, like over tea or breaking bread, and to get to know each other along the way. ....All of my books are available at booksellers worldwide. In a sense, contemplative prayer is none other than the practice of deepening one's faith in God. But faith manifests in many guises. Perhaps a less obvious quality of faith is confidence. What does it mean to sit with a “restful confidence,” fully trusting that God is bringing about a mighty work in you? Listen to this episode as Thomas draws from the inspired thinking of Sri Aurobindo as well as a favorite scripture of his from back home. May you live prayerfully, always with a “perfect brightness of hope.” 7-day meditation retreat (September 30th - October 7th) 9-month deep dive in the contemplative life (still accepting applications)

The sound of a twig snapping in our hands has the ability to travel directly into our soul. There's more to it than just hearing the sound—it's the vibration, the frequency, and it's also your soul's history. In long ago, previous lifetimes, we gathered, stepped on, broke, carved, pointed, leaned on, and utilized sticks, branches and twigs for many reasons, such as survival and even for cultural and ritualistic reasonings. As long as humankind has been here, so have trees, shrubs and bushes, and there has been a forever relationship between humans and twigs ever since. Breaking twigs is a powerful meditation, a powerful clearing tool and rewiring mechanism that can penetrate through the walls of PTSD, wounds of hardship and mental, emotional, and even spiritual injuries and blockages that feel like something has impeded a person's progress and seems to be keeping them stuck in a vicious cycle of confusion. Healing occurs on all levels when applying this powerful meditational tool. In this episode, learn how to break twigs in a way that moves you forward. It's an experience that you will never forget in this lifetime. In this episode… Learn about a powerful rewiring tool and spiritual healing therapy and how to harness it. Discover the best methods for snapping twigs, which twigs to choose and how many you should gather for this meditation. Uncover how thousands of years ago, your soul experienced the snapping of twigs and how to connect to those experiences. Learn how this therapy and spiritual tool can rewire the consciousness, subconsciousness, brain and the soul. Discover the imprint-removing powers that snapping twigs can enact. Learn how snapping twigs can be used as a form of communication between you and others. All this and more, tune in and don't miss out on this important episode.
