While most, over the years, have interacted with our content with charity and respect, even if they disagree, there's always been a gallery of trolls who traffic in insults and profanity and are only interested in taking potshots at the ministry rather than engaging in conversation. So it goes—that's just part of the price of entry into the digital world, especially when evangelization is your goal. The internet culture, however, seems to have taken a dark turn recently. Whatever limited restraint people used to show in their online interactions seems to have evaporated in a toxic cloud of mob-fueling—and mob-fueled—rage, replete with distortions, deceptions, and sometimes even explicit calls for violence. Exacerbated by the rise of the use of AI, bots, and anonymous accounts often based in foreign countries, it is increasingly difficult to know with whom you are engaging online or what their motives are. And sadly, physical threats from online sources are now also something we must take very seriously. So how should we move forward from here? The Documentary "Who Killed Nancy?"The 1986 biopic Sid and Nancy largely frames their deaths around a tragic, drug-fueled descent. However, if you are looking into the real-world investigation, the 2009 documentary Who Killed Nancy? directed by Alan G. Parker re-examined NYPD evidence and interviewed 182 people, heavily arguing that Vicious was physically incapable of the crime and pointing the blame back toward the missing money and independent dealers. The true identity of who killed Nancy Spungen remains officially unresolved, though her boyfriend and Sex Pistols bassist, Sid Vicious, was the prime suspect and charged with her murder. On October 12, 1978, Spungen bled to death from a single stab wound to the abdomen in Room 100 of the Hotel Chelsea in New York City. Because Vicious died of a heroin overdose less than four months later while out on bail, the case never went to trial and was legally closed. Over the decades, three primary theories have dominated the mystery:1. Sid Vicious Killed HerThis is the official police theory. The weapon used was a hunting knife owned by Vicious. He gave conflicting statements, initially confessing by saying, "I did it... because I'm a dirty dog," before later recanting and claiming he had been asleep after taking heavy doses of sedatives. 2. A Robbery and Drug Deal Gone WrongThe Hotel Chelsea was highly chaotic that night, with numerous drug dealers and visitors drifting in and out of Room 100. A substantial stack of cash belonging to the couple went missing from the room. Many of Vicious's peers—including Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren—strongly believed Sid was passed out from drugs and that a thief stabbed Nancy when she caught them stealing. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]3. Actor and Drug Dealer Rockets RedglareA prominent alternative theory points to Rockets Redglare, a late actor, stand-up comedian, and drug dealer who served as Vicious's bodyguard. Redglare had delivered drugs to the room hours before the body was found. According to some investigators and punk rock historians, Redglare allegedly killed Spungen during a struggle when he tried to rob the apartment. Army Veteran Manny Pasillas Lucio shares the combat story that changed his life forever.Born in Mexico and raised in California, Manny grew up navigating family tension, poverty, and the streets of Compton before deciding to join the Army after 9/11. After basic training at Fort Benning, he was sent to Fort Lewis, Washington, where he became part of a Stryker infantry unit and later joined a scout sniper platoon.In this episode of Urban Valor, Manny opens up about his deployment to Iraq, including missions in Mosul, Baghdad, Taji, and Baqubah. He describes small team missions, hunting high-value targets, taking fire, encountering IEDs, working alongside other units, and the daily fear that came with operating outside the wire.Manny also shares the devastating moment his Stryker was hit by an IED while returning to base. He woke up choking on smoke, heard screams around him, and later discovered his teammate Billy Ferris didn't survive the blast. On February 2, 1979, Sid Vicious — the sneering, self-destructive bassist of the Sex Pistols whose reckless persona became synonymous with the chaos and nihilism of punk rock — died of a heroin overdose in New York City at the age of 21, just months after the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, at the Chelsea Hotel. Together, Vicious and Spungen embodied the darkest extremes of the late-1970s punk movement: volatile, addicted, fiercely codependent, and consumed by a relationship that blurred the line between love and mutual destruction. Spungen, a deeply troubled young woman drawn to the underground music scene, became both muse and scapegoat within punk culture, while Vicious's meteoric rise from London misfit to international antihero masked profound instability beneath the sneer and swagger. Their tragic spiral through violence, fame, and heroin addiction culminated in one of rock history's most infamous deaths, cementing the pair as enduring symbols of punk's seductive rebellion and catastrophic excess.
