De réir an daonáirimh is déanaí, tá eolas éigin ag 130,000 duine ar an nGaeilge in Albain ach i dTuaisceart na hÉireann, tá fios éigin ag beagnach 100,000 duine sa bhreis ar sin ar an teanga - 228,617. Tá i bhfad níos mó Gaeilge ar an BBC in Albain ná mar atá ná mar atá ó thuaidh áfach. Tá idirdhealú soiléir ann, mar sin féin, agus is beag gearán a dhéanann Gaeilgeoirí faoin cheist – cad chuige sin??? Face it, everyone loves a good fight. And musicians and singers are always adding an extra layer to their entertainment value - intentionally or accidentally - by engaging in battles with their peers. Some of these feuds are exaggerated and some are underplayed. Some have an obvious bad guy while in others it seems like both parties should share the blame. Some seem to be about nothing, and others seem to be about everything. It seemed like the stakes couldn't have been higher than they were in the recent Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar feud ... that is, until you remembered Tupac Shakur vs. The Notorious B.I.G. (both of whom died from drive-by shootings just months apart). Internal wars chipped away at some of rock's best bands - from the Beatles and The Kinks to Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac. Meanwhile, some of the most iconic singers were locked in bitter rivalries, including Prince and Michael Jackson as well as Axl Rose and Kurt Cobain. Then there were the entertaining battles of the divas - Cher vs. Madonna, Elton John vs. Madonna, Whitney Houston vs. Mariah Carey, Mariah Carey vs. Jennifer Lopez. ... And we'll never forget the most inexplicable feud that just seems to go on and on: Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift. This week your hosts of "How We Heard It" recap all of these fights and many more - the ones that made them laugh, the ones that made them wince and the ones that made them scratch their heads. They also take a look at the artist who seems to be fighting the entire world. Even if you've never heard of her.

Megan and Evan hold down the fort again this week, while Dave's on vacation. Megan kicks things off with a review of CHAIN REACTIONS (2:25), Alexandre O. Philippe's insightful documentary about THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, which takes an intriguing approach: it examines the film's impact on five artists — Patton Oswalt, Takashi Miike, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Stephen King, and Karyn Kusama — exploring how it shaped their art and psyche from childhood trauma. Megan is a big fan and highly recommends it. Next, both of us discuss Bryan Bertino's disappointing psychological horror film Vicious (20:55), starring Dakota Fanning and Kathryn Hunter. The movie, which is streaming on Paramount+, follows a woman (Fanning) who must fight for her life after receiving a mysterious box from a late-night visitor (Hunter). It features murky visuals, plot, and ideas that failed to capture our attention. And in this week's Patreon exclusive audio, we talk about Rob Reiner's 1990 horror film MISERY, starring James Caan and Kathy Bates, in honor of its 35th anniversary!
We get a tummy ache from The Smashing Machine and also talk Prince of Darkness, The Apprentice, Vicious, Baby Assassins, Inferno and Ghost Killer. (The Axeman's Jazz) *** The investigation of an apparent suicide in 1953 led to an unbelievable theory… not only had the victim used LSD years earlier, but it was quite possible it was forced upon him by the Central Intelligence Agency. (The CIA and LSD) *** You don't often hear of people being struck and killed by lightning – at least not nowadays. But pick up a paper from the early 1900s and you'd think people were doing it as a hobby. (Death By Electrical Storm) *** January 30th, 1835 was the date of the first attempt at assassinating a sitting U.S. President – Andrew Jackson. That fact itself doesn't warrant placement in Weird Darkness, seeing as the attempt failed – but the story leading up to the attempt, and the attempt itself, certainly earn their place in this episode. (The President and the Madman) *** I'll end the episode in the Chamber of Comments, but before that, my last story will the most disturbing one of the episode. Most ghosts are seemingly passive or even benevolent, appearing to scare people only by accident, never by intent. But then there are the stories of violent and angry ghosts – spirits that not only bring terror, but also bloodshed and even death by their own ghostly hands. We'll look at some famous cases of violent hauntings throughout history.CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = Show Open00:02:39.659 = The Axeman's Jazz00:22:15.246 = ***CIA and LSD00:29:01.021 = Death By Electrical Storm00:34:15.324 = The President And The Madman00:41:20.641 = ***Vicious And Violent Hauntings01:02:01.000 = Show Close*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakSOURCES and RESOURCES:BOOK: “A Terrible Mistake: The Murder of Frank Olson and the CIA's Secret Cold War Experiments” by H.P. On this week's belated catch-up episode of The New Flesh, it's a new release triple feature! Before the main event of BONE LAKE, V/H/S HALLOWEN and VICIOUS, there's tons of horror news to share.
Siquoyia Blue dissects Vicious, Dakota Fanning’s unnerving film about Polly, a woman whose unchecked grief and spiritual exhaustion manifest as a terrifying curse. The episode explores how pain becomes a living force, the symbolic box that passes trauma on, and whether survival without healing truly counts as freedom. Through analysis and critical reactions, the host asks what energy we’re feeding and how belief shapes the darkness we live with, urging listeners to face pain with compassion instead of passing it along. John talks about Trump's Gaza Peace deal. The details are still being worked out, but the Awards Season campaign to get Trump a Nobel Peace Prize has kicked into high gear across right-wing news media and the MAGAsphere. Also, John says revenge is a full time job in Pam Bondi's DOJ. A Grand Jury took the bait and has indicted NY Attorney General Letitia James on one count of mortgage fraud, the latest political indictment from "The Enemies List". Then, he speaks with Monte Mader. She's a culture critic, musician, podcaster, and fitness professional whose transformation from conservative fundamentalism to fearless truth-teller has made her a powerful voice for cultural change. Monte's early life was steeped in Christian fundamentalism and conservative politics. She pursued theological studies in Israel and was immersed in environments that emphasized obedience and traditional gender roles. However, personal experiences and critical reflection led her to question and eventually deconstruct these belief systems. Check out her podcast "Flipping the Table" and support her on Patreon at MonteMader. And then, John chats with listeners on Pope Leo condemning economies that marginalize the poor while the wealthy live in a bubble of luxury. Plus, they talk about the latest update on the Epstein files and John's appearance in Chicago for his "Separation of Church and Hate" tour.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Gary and Shannon open the show celebrating the Dodgers' latest win, break down the Trump-led Gaza ceasefire, and dive into the storm systems bringing deep tropical “moisture” across the Southwest. But things take a sharp turn when Gary's Jeopardy question of the day sparks a full-on newsroom brawl over whether moisture is the same as humidity. Also: a tragic explosion in Tennessee, Nobel Prize snubs, and a few bruised egos from the Jeopardy group chat.

D4vd, of streaming, TikTok, and Fortnite fame, had a dismembered body found inside of his Tesla, and the body has been identified as a 15-year-old girl by the name of Celeste. It has been reported that the 21-year-old rapper has been in a relationship with the young girl, who was reported missing back in 2024 when she was just 13 years old. What makes the tragedy even more disturbing is how much of his music seemed to prophetically mirror the violence now connected to his name, even though at this point he hasn't been named as a suspect yet. That hasn't stopped the internet from piecing together a number of details that are seemingly right out in the open as we take a look at a pattern of artists and their dark lyrics and imagery that have mirrored their own demise. In this episode, Ryan Koo and Jourdan Aldredge explore what makes the 20th edition of Fantastic Fest so crucial for genre and indie filmmakers. They discuss the festival's unique energy, audience connection, and events, spotlight standout films like Shelby Oaks, Sisu: Road to Revenge, Black Phone 2, Luger, Vicious, Primate, Whistle, Coyotes, and others. The conversation culminates in a new initiative—Fantastic Pitches—marking a shift in the fest's ecosystem from exhibiting work to helping get new projects made. In this episode, No Film School's Ryan Koo and Jordan Aldridge discuss: How Fantastic Fest blends genre film exhibition with audience experience, making film festivals more fun, accessible, and communal. The importance of seeing what genre filmmakers are doing with limited resources—especially horror, fantasy, action—and how those constraints often spawn creative solutions.
