Junie B. Jones was first introduced to young readers over thirty years ago, but her ability to make children laugh - and some adults angry - hasn't changed. Colleen AF Venable, a seasoned children's author whose graphic novel adaptation of Barbara Park's Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus hit shelves earlier this year, joins us to talk about the beloved children's series, its namesake, and the controversies that have followed it from the beginning.
Last night's message from Galatians 2 reminded us that the grace of God is meant to work properly in our lives not to be frustrated by legalism or liberalism. Legalism leads to bondage by adding manmade standards to God's work of grace, while liberalism leads to destruction by excusing sin under the banner of "freedom." Both extremes rob believers of the liberty that comes from living by grace. We were challenged to walk the narrow path of liberty a life crucified with Christ, alive by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us. When we remember His love and sacrifice, we'll be free to live a life that honors Him not out of fear, pressure, or personal indulgence, but out of gratitude. Let's strive to live a life that allows God's grace to work fully and freely.
The Mets and Yankees faced another night of frustrating losses. Gio compared the Mets to the Knicks, noting their inconsistent performance despite their known talent. Boomer described the losses as "gut punch after gut punch." Aaron Judge returns as DH, keeping Giancarlo Stanton out. Jerry's update covers the Yankees' loss to Texas, with Devin Williams giving up a tying HR and Josh Young hitting a walk-off. Max Fried's recent starts have been poor, and Brett Baty made a crucial error. Aaron Glenn discussed game week prep. Jerry also featured a clip of Dan in Warwick asking about the NY and SF Giants meeting, followed by a social media video of Eli Manning meeting the SF Giants, with Mike Francesa appearing. Sal's follow-up call with Dan was a "dud." The hour concluded with both New York teams suffering rough nights.

John Maytham speaks with Advocate Stefanie Fick of OUTA about mounting frustration over ongoing delays in issuing driving licence cards. Cape Town’s DLTCs have processed nearly 60,000 licence and PrDP applications this year, yet not a single card has been delivered due to a production failure at the national Driving Licence Card Account (DLCA) in Pretoria. With over 26 years’ experience in the justice system, Adv. Fick unpacks the accountability and governance breakdowns behind this national backlog.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textGuess who's back? Back again. An old caller reemerges from the shadows, kicking off a wild and chaotic episode of Not Well. This week, the conversation dives into everything from holiday highs and lows to existential musings and absurd tangents that only Bobby and Jim can pull off.The holidays take center stage as the duo unpacks the weirdness of gift-giving, the stress of unwrapping presents in front of an audience, and the sheer absurdity of obligatory workplace gift exchanges. There's also a candid exploration of body image struggles, including a post-holiday battle with weight gain and self-perception, peppered with a bit of humor and self-deprecation.The episode doesn't hold back as the conversation veers into a discussion about evolving porn preferences, from fantasy-driven storylines to public settings and everything in between. This naturally leads into a reflection on queer spaces like The Eagle, where they share their appreciation for the raw, unapologetic energy of these establishments and lament the loss of that authenticity in some modern spaces.Drag culture takes a turn under the spotlight, with sharp critiques about how mainstream attention has dulled the creative edge of drag performances. There's a longing for more boundary-pushing art and a frustration with the predictability of certain performances. Despite the critiques, there's still respect for drag as a vital part of queer expression and culture.New Year's Eve antics are recounted in vivid detail, including awkward party moments, over-the-top social interactions, and a bit of introspection about the exhausting nature of large gatherings. There's a hilarious tangent about small talk and how draining it is, especially in high-energy social settings. The episode is rounded out by a series of unfiltered rants, including one about restaurant service during the holidays and the oddly frustrating world of twist-tie trash bags. A vision of a world without buttholes becomes a centerpiece of one of the more absurd yet surprisingly profound tangents. Finally, the episode wraps up with a critical take on RuPaul's Drag Race and a promise to keep challenging norms while staying true to the chaotic, queer energy that defines Not Well. This episode is an unfiltered, hilarious, and thought-provoking ride, filled with the trademark humor and raw honesty that listeners love.Support the showAs always you can write us at nowellpodcast@gmail.com or call us at (614) 721-5336 and tell us your Not Wells of the week InstagramTwitterBobby's Only FansHelp us continue to grow and create amazing content, like a live tour or just help fund some new headphones when needed. It wasn't quite as rip roaring a night in the Champions League as we had on Tuesday but still plenty to ponder after night two. Such as, how Inter were able to quell Man City. In April, members of the Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers Association gave testimony at a Wasco County Commissioners meeting over potential rule changes to Oregon’s agricultural labor housing standards. The growers claim many of the changes are too costly to implement and unrelated to health and safety. Columbia Gorge News recently reported on the meeting amid the yearslong effort by the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division to update agricultural labor housing rules, some of which haven’t changed in nearly four decades. Also in April, a coalition of labor unions, racial justice and farmworker advocacy groups sent a letter to Gov. Tina Kotek and the Oregon OSHA administrator expressing their disappointment in what they characterized as a “lack of priority” given to improving the “alarmingly outdated” labor housing standards.
