In this week's sermon we address the "A" in DRAW Near as we learn how to "Ask" in prayer. We do this by looking at 1 Timothy 2:1-4 as it shows us how to make requests for ourselves as well as others. We often tend to go to one extreme or the other when it comes to requests in prayer: we only ask, or we feel that asking is selfish and don't do it. However, asking is a part of Jesus' demonstration for how we are to pray, we just need to know how to go about it properly. We're glad that you made it to this sermon! Friends of the Rosary,Tomorrow, May 13, is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of the Rosary.Last week, Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass at the Pontifical Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii, solemnly reciting the Supplication to the Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii, which takes place every year on May 8 and on the first Sunday of October. After greeting disabled persons and venerating the relics of the shrine's founder, St. Bartolo Longo, the Pontiff recalled in his homily: “I had to come here, therefore, to place my service under the protection of the Blessed Virgin.”"The Hail Mary is an invitation to joy: it tells Mary, and in her to all of us, that on the rubble of our humanity tried by sin and therefore always inclined to prevarications, oppression, and wars, came the caress of God, the caress of mercy, which takes on a human face in Jesus. Mary thus becomes the Mother of Mercy. Disciple of the Word and instrument of his Incarnation, she truly reveals herself to be “full of grace.” Everything in her is grace!""Everything happens in the power of the Holy Spirit, who overshadows Mary and makes her virginal womb fruitful. This moment in history has a sweetness and power that attract the heart and bring it to that contemplative height in which the prayer of the Holy Rosary sprouts. A prayer which, having arisen and developed progressively in the second millennium, has its roots in the history of salvation, and it is precisely in the Angel's Greeting to the Virgin that it has as its prelude."“Hail Mary!” The repetition of this prayer in the Rosary is like the echo of Gabriel's greeting, an echo that spans the centuries and guides the believer's gaze to Jesus, seen with the eyes and heart of the Mother. Jesus adored, contemplated, assimilated in each of his mysteries, so that with Saint Paul we can say: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Gal 2:19). Preceded by the proclamation of the Word of God, set between the Our Father and the Glory Be, the Hail Mary that is repeated in the Holy Rosary is an act of love."“From this Shrine, whose façade St. Bartolo Longo conceived as a monument to peace, today we raise our Supplication with faith,” Pope Leo added. “Jesus told us that all things can be achieved by prayer made in faith (cf. Mt 21:22). And St. Bartholo Longo, thinking of Mary's faith, defines her as ‘omnipotent by grace.' Through her intercession, may there come from the God of peace an outpouring of mercy that touches hearts, appeases resentment and fratricidal hatred, and enlightens those who have special responsibilities of government.”Alleluia! Christ is Risen!Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! We open the show on Oz Pearlman — the mentalist who's been showing up on every podcast and somehow keeps reading minds for a living. Adam just caught him on Modern Wisdom, where Pearlman walked the host through his exact internal thought process — what he picked, what he second-guessed, what he settled on — like he had a pipeline straight into the man's head. Adam now rearranges his schedule whenever Oz pops up on a screen. So consider this a formal invitation: Oz, come drink whiskey with us. Tell us our favorite bourbon. We'll pour the Glencairns.Speaking of — this week we're sipping High West Campfire. A blend of straight rye, straight bourbon, and blended malt scotch. Yes, scotch. Peat smoke gives way to orange zest, English toffee, toasted brioche, salted caramel, leather, dark chocolate. It works. Then Adam gives an update on baby Mary. New listeners — Adam's daughter was born very early with a heart condition and a long list of complications. She's been in the NICU since birth. This past weekend was her actual due date, and after a long string of holding-the-line W's, she's turned a meaningful corner. Off the paralytic. Better oxygen, blood pressure, heart rate. Swelling coming down. Still a long road — likely nine to twelve more months in the NICU. Adam and Lady Haylee are deeply grateful. Keep them in your prayers. Both of them.Quick note from Dave: Good Shepherd Sunday in Tulsa. The pastor handed out cards and asked every man in the pews to write down the name of a young man who'd make a good priest. A thousand men doing that work together. Tulsa's per-capita priest count is already top five in the country — and we still need more. Then we get into it. The King in the Tabernacle. If the Eucharist is just a symbol, the Catholic Church is a 2,000-year deception. Flannery O'Connor's line — to hell with it — is the right one. But we don't believe it's a symbol. We believe what Christ said. Body, blood, soul, and divinity. The continuation of the Incarnation, until the end of the age.David's been reading The Real Presence by St. Peter Julian Eymard (Cor Jesu Press). Eymard is the patron of Eucharistic adoration — one homily in him, gave it for a lifetime. And one chapter lays out a battle plan for how to actually spend a holy hour. Not just sit there. Spend it.The four ends of worship — ACTS: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, Supplication. Eymard breaks the hour into four fifteen-minute sections. First fifteen: adoration. You don't walk into the royal court making demands. You fall on your knees and salute the King. Second fifteen: thanksgiving — for yourself, your family, the world. Thank Him for instituting the Eucharist at all. (Most of us forget that one.) Third fifteen: reparation. Stand in the gap. For your sins, for the world's, especially for the sacrileges against the Eucharist itself. Fourth fifteen: petition. Now you can ask. Ask large graces. Ask for the triumph of His Church. By the time you get there, you're asking for the right things. We talk about the difference between knowing the Eucharist is Christ and acting like it. You don't accidentally get a six-pack at 40. You don't accidentally get holy, either. We're body-soul composites — what we do with our bodies forms our souls. That's why we genuflect. Dress for Mass. Kneel after Communion. St. Charbel had two modes: preparing to receive, or thanking God for having received. The bar he set is the right one.We close with Eymard's image of the guard of honor. Jesus has made Himself vulnerable in the host. Heart pierced. Defenseless. Waiting on His men to show up and adore Him. That's the work. Guard duty. Get to adoration. Change your life.Raise your glass.TOPICS COVEREDOz Pearlman the mentalist — and Adam's open invitation to come on the showBaby Mary's update: off the paralytic, turning a corner after months in the NICUWhy prayer for Lady Haylee matters as much as prayer for MaryGood Shepherd Sunday in Tulsa — a thousand men writing down names of future priestsWhy the Eucharist is the reason to be Catholic — and why "to hell with it" is the right answer if it's a symbolSt. Peter Julian Eymard, the patron of Eucharistic adoration, and his book The Real PresenceWhy the real presence is the continuation of the IncarnationThe actual battle plan for a holy hour: ACTS in fifteen-minute sectionsWhy thanksgiving in adoration is the most perfect act of loveReparation — standing in the gap for sacrileges against the EucharistWhy your petitions get sharper after you've adored, thanked, and made reparationKnowing the Eucharist is Christ vs. actually acting like itWhy you're not going to accidentally get holy any more than you're going to accidentally get a six-pack at 40Body-soul composites: how genuflection, posture, and dress shape the interior lifeSt. Charbel's two modes — preparing to receive Communion, or thanking God for having receivedLady Pamela stopping at every chapel she passed — and why that 60 seconds was worth more than Adam realizedDon't let the perfect be the enemy of the excellentThe guard of honor: Jesus exposing Himself in the host, depending on His men to defend and adore HimBourbon of the week: High West Campfire — the rare rye/bourbon/scotch blendREFERENCED IN THIS EPISODEBooks:The Real Presence by St. Peter Julian Eymard (Cor Jesu Press)Saints:St. Peter Julian EymardSt. CharbelMother Angelica (and her new shoes at adoration)People & previous guests:Joey Spencer — on Christ becoming the fruit hanging on a treeJeff Cavins — on talking to Jesus like He's actually thereFlannery O'Connor / Dorothy Day — "If it's a symbol, to hell with it"Oz Pearlman (mentalist, Modern Wisdom podcast)Lady Haylee MinihanLady Pamela NilesConcepts & references:The four ends of worship: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, Supplication (ACTS)The National Eucharistic CongressGood Shepherd SundayEucharistic adorationThe continuation of the IncarnationSubstance and accidents (Aristotelian-Thomistic metaphysics of the Eucharist)SPONSOR BLOCKSponsor: Select International Tours — selectinternationaltours.comWhen Adam and Dave decided to lead their first pilgrimage, the same name kept coming up: Select International Tours. Prayer can certainly seem overwhelming and overly complicated. However, prayer is simply a conversation with God and raising our minds to the things of Heaven. In this episode of On Mission, Chris Pierno, Sarah Scalfaro, and Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. share how simple prayer can be and how to grow more fruit from prayer.Prayer is the basis of our relationship with God and it's important to remember the basics. Remembering the basics keeps prayer as simple as a conversation between two friends, God and yourself. We can look to more formal prayers like the Our Father and Hail Mary as a basis for how our prayer can be, but there's no replacement from speaking from the heart and allowing our Lord to respond. We can use the acronym ACTS to help model our prayer: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Related On Mission episodes:Maintain Prayer Routines During Summer VacationPrayerful ParenthoodYear of PrayerLectio Divina From the Ad Infinitum blog:The Fruit of PrayerMore posts about Prayer Year of Prayer ResourcesPrayer Resources Check out the main Saints and Feast Days websiteDownload the App on the App Store or Google Play Follow us:The Catholic Apostolate CenterThe Center's podcast websiteInstagramFacebookApple PodcastsSpotify On Mission is produced by the Catholic Apostolate Center. We want to talkabout this very last phrase: “Supplication for all the saints”. So we are to bepraying always with watchfulness, with perseverance, and be praying orsupplicating for all the saints. I cannot say it enough times—we are to bepraying for others. AsPaul tells us to pray here, two Greek words are actually used for the words prayersand supplications. The word supplication is used twice in thisverse of Scripture. The word prayer is a Greek word that means generalprayer. So we have general prayers that we pray like the Lord's prayer inMatthew 6 that begins with: “Our Father”. Even as we pray OurFather, I notice that Jesus did not say to pray “My Father,” because ourFather speaks of corporate prayer. We pray together with the church, fellowbelievers. Together we are praying with others—Our Father. Also, we are prayingwith Jesus, “our Father”. The Father of Jesus is our Father. Our Father. Oh,that is the way we start our prayers—Our Father—and we go before Him thinkingof others and not just of ourselves. Pauldid not say, “Pray for me first.” Now, he does say that later, and here he doesnot say, “Pray for yourself.” He says pray for others and for all the saints.Remember what Samuel said in his parting words to Israel in 1 Samuel 12:23, “Farbe it from me that I should sin against the Lord and cease to pray for you.” Weare members of one body. If one member is weak, then  we need others in the church to strengthenthat one person with our prayers, to grow the body of Jesus Christ. Thegreatest and most important thing you can do for another believer is to prayfor them. My friend, many of us believers get self-centered in our prayers, andwe become weak because we are not praying for others as we should. Whodo you pray for? You pray for your spouse. You pray for your children. You prayfor your church. You pray for missionaries. You pray for your pastor. You prayfor persecuted believers who are suffering even now around the world. One ofthe aids I have found that really helps me in my daily prayers—and I have along list of people to pray for—is a little book called Pray for Me, byTony Souder. I have been using this as a prayer guide now for over ten years. It is Pray for Me, and it has 13 weeks of seven prayers in each week—topray specifically for people. Originally, this was used to encourage older adults to pray for the young people in ourchurch. But I found it is good to pray this for all my grown children, mygrandchildren, and now my great-grandchild—to pray for my wife as well. As I ampraying these prayers, I often read them out loud and pray them for thesespecific people by name daily. I find that I also pray for myself and say, “OhLord, I need this prayer. I trust somebody is praying this prayer for metoday.” Thiskeeps me from just saying the same old, same old prayer: “Father, bless mybrother, bless my sister, bless this person, bless that one, help this person.”We have specific needs and supplications. The word supplications is actually theGreek word for specific prayer. So he says, “supplications for all thesaints”. We pray specific prayers for all the saints that the Lord has broughtinto our lives. God help us to be doing that. You can be doing that. Youmight be saying, “I do not know what to pray.” Take time to look up and prayprayers like Colossians 1:9–12. Also prayers like Ephesians 1:16–22 and Ephesians3:14–21. Paul said that is what he was praying for the saints at these churches. You can pray those prayers, too. Read these prayers right out of the Bible for fellowbelievers, for your pastor and missionaries, for your family members, and whoeverthe Lord might bring to your mind while you are praying. Maythe Lord help us as we pray for others and fulfill this verse—"supplicationfor all the saints”.

The focus of our worship on the Second Sunday in Lent is on the Victory that Jesus has earned for sinners and how He shares the spoils of that victory with those who believe. We live in a fallen world that reveals the impact the curse has had on our lives and on the world that we live in. The enemies of the believer are great: the devil, the world, and even our sinful flesh. As we live as God's children and are attacked by these enemies, we need the LORD's presence and strength. Paul Eber, knew the power of those enemies and that the LORD was his only hope. In our hymn for this weekend, he confesses his sin and his confidence in the LORD's grace and power. We are studying "When in the Hour of Utmost Need" (TLH 522). This hymn is based on the words of King Jehoshophat in his time of trouble recorded in 2 Chronicles 20:12: “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” Another passage is Hebrews 4:16: "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." This hymn acknowledges our need for help from God because of the enemies that we face, confesses our sin and unworthiness before a holy God, and a desire to praise the LORD for His mercy and grace and to live our lives to and for Him, in deep thanksgiving for His mercy.  This is a prayer that can and should be prayed by every believer in Jesus. It includes Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. Join with Paul Eber, Christians of the past and those of the future in praying to our Faithful God to help us in our deepest time of need, and rejoicing in our confidence that He will hear and answer. The LORD bless your worship this weekend!

Prayer is the believer's primary weapon and constant lifeline, not a last resort but a first response. It reveals real faith in moments of pressure and should become second nature through ongoing conversation with God and specific requests. Scripture shows that bold, persistent prayer aligns us with God's provision and brings peace, while praying for others strengthens and carries the whole church. Prayer also sharpens spiritual awareness, helping believers see clearly, hear God's direction, and recognize His movement. It requires humility and dependence, reminding us that true power does not come from human effort but from reliance on God. Prayer is both the starting point and sustaining force of the Christian life, positioning us to participate in what only God can accomplish.

Growth 101: Getting the Basics Right focuses on the how-to of prayer, not just the idea of praying. Prayer can feel confusing if no one shows us how. While spontaneous prayer is good, Scripture calls us to consistent, focused prayer, modeled by Daniel. This sermon introduces the ACTS model as a simple, biblical framework for prayer: Adoration (praising God for who He is), Confession (agreeing with God about our sin to restore fellowship), Thanksgiving (cultivating gratitude and humility), and Supplication (bringing requests to God for His glory and our good). Using Scripture to guide each part helps believers pray confidently, consistently, and in the Spirit as they grow in their relationship with God.

Fr. Andy's Narsai Book: https://a.co/d/9lCSfFa ––– We talk about the upcoming Chaldean mini-season of Ba'utha, the Supplication of the Ninevites, and the story of Jonah — and why all of it still hits close to home today. We get honest about what it means to face ourselves, why we often run from the things we know we should deal with, and how discomfort can actually be part of healing and growth. We connect Jonah's journey to everyday life, talk about fasting, and even throw in some surprisingly good fasting-friendly food ideas – falafel anyone? While we eat we play an entertaining round of "Would You Rather" that goes off the rails pretty quick... Featuring: Fr. Christopher Somo, Fr. Andy Younan, Fr. Daniel Shaba, Fr. He is, as thus poured out, a 'Spirit of supplications;' that is, of prayer for grace and mercy. The word is formed from chen, as the other was — to be gracious or merciful. And expressing our act towards God, it is prayer for grace — a supplication; and it is never used except to express vocal prayer, either in the assemblies of the people of God or by private persons.
