Do you ever notice that some people move through life with ease, tolerance, balance, and resilience? Likewise, do you ever notice that some people consistently struggle to find any contentment with their lives? Well, there's a reason for that: happy people see the world and themselves differently, and they live better lives as a result. Join me while I share five more major differences between happy and unhappy people, and if you haven't already, be sure to give part one a listen! Happy People... are honest and open with themselves and others about what they think and how they feel have a deep awareness of how past injuries influence their current relationships and behaviors, and actively try to break harmful patterns treat themselves and others with care, compassion, kindness, fairness, and respect show gratitude for what they have while striving to realize their dreams Unhappy People... deny or repress their thoughts and feelings and lie to themselves and others about who they truly are have little self-awareness and unconsciously repeat harmful patterns and behaviors treat themselves and others with contempt, judgement, disregard, hostility, and disrespect don't appreciate what they have and take little action to realize their dreams If you're seeking to know yourself well, to make better choices, or gain clarity or insight on a situation that's unfolding in your life, a tarot reading with me could be just what you need to get back on track. Using the information you send me, I'll craft a reading that addresses your specific inquiries and concerns from a psychological, intuitive, and archetypal perspective. The Magician tarot card is Key I in the major arcana, and it's traditionally associated with manifestation, creativity, and ingenuity. In the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, The Magician is depicted as a powerful figure standing before the four symbols of the tarot suits: pentacles, cups, swords, and wands. This demonstrates that he has everything he needs to actualize his visions and dreams. He points a wand to the sky and his finger to the ground, symbolizing the popular occult maxim "As above, so below." He is a conduit that harnesses the power of the heavens and channels it into earthly creation. He is the genius of humankind. The Magician in the Genius Garden Tarot is just as clever and resourceful as the Magician in the RWS, but he recognizes a different source of his power--himself. He doesn't point upwards to a supreme deity that reigns on high. Rather, he recognizes god in everything, and everything as an equal manifestation of that divine power. He harnesses the power with him to levitate the symbols of the four suits, demonstrating the mastery and ease with which he wields them. The Fool tarot card is the first in the major arcana, fittingly assigned key 0. It represents new beginnings, potential, adventure, and the hero's journey through life. In the Rider-Waite Smith tarot deck, the Fool is depicted as a carefree traveller with a modest load and a little white dog as his only companion. The rose in his hand represents innocence, and the cliff he carelessly approaches represents the unknown future that awaits him. The Fool is often seen as naive, innocent, and unaware of the potential dangers that lie ahead on his journey, which explains the look of blissful contentment he wears. The Fool in the Genius Garden Tarot is the wise fool, brave and willing to take life's knocks. They have travelled over many peaks and through many valleys, and they leap into the unknown knowing full well that they'll face difficulty along the way. The wise fool represents faith, trust, and joie de vivre--for them, the journey is the destination. In both cases, the Fool tarot card is associated with taking risks, stepping into the unknown, and embracing uncertainty. In a reading, it suggests that the time has come to let go of fear and to trust in oneself and in the journey ahead, no matter what it may bring. When I first happened upon the The Endless Oracle by Eric Maille, I was immediately taken in by its beautifully dark color palette, stunning archetypal imagery, and inviting art style. As I delved deeper, I realized that this deck was a myriorama deck: one that creates a continuous panorama when the cards are laid out side by side. I was instantly intrigued--how does one craft a myriorama deck? What are some of the challenges associated with such an undertaking? How did Eric choose his theme and the subject matter for the cards? Rather than wonder, I invited him onto the Genius Garden Podcast to speak about his creative process. Grab a cuppa, relax, and have a listen to the awesome conversation that Eric and I have about the boons and pitfalls of passionate creativity, big projects, and creative success. Jessica Howard lived a childhood that many of us only dream of--nature was her playground, and her keen sense of intuition and observation led her to develop a personal codex of patterns and associations in the natural world. Upon graduating art school, she knew she wanted to marry those associations with the archetypes of the tarot, and thus, the achingly beautiful Forager's Daughter Tarot was born. In the premiere episode of Creator Stories, Jessica shares her journey of crafting the Forager's Daughter Tarot. She talks about what inspired her, how she went from concept to print, and the obstacles she met along the way. She also offers a special story about her relationship with the Hierophant, and how a gentle reworking of this archetype can make it easier to learn from and embrace. This episode is a sneak-peek from the How to Grow A Genius Garden, a journey that guides you through the process of reconnecting with your divine, intuitive creativity. Learn more about this journey today. When we begin something new, the temptation to exercise complete control is strong. We think that if we consciously plot, plan, and conceptualize every step, we'll be successful. If we throw everything we have at our projects and refuse to come up for air, we'll eventually emerge with greater fruits than if we left some things to chance, right? Wrong. "Chance" is the movement of the Universe through us. It is the spontaneous whimsy and inspiration of our Genius. In essence, it is the divine infused into what we make and create. We have to give our projects a chance to breathe, evolve, and mature in other areas of consciousness. There's much more to the creative process than meets the eye; there's a whole dynamic world whirling behind the scenes that wants to be expressed through us. Let your creations germinate, Beauty. Give them the space they need to bloom into the wondrous flowers of creativity that they want to be!
In this episode, Jessi shares why it's a mistake to place the accumulation of wealth and status in the #1 slot of your list of priorities. True happiness can only be found through channeling the authentic creativity of Genius and building strong relationships with self, cosmos, and others. Does money matter? Of course. It's just not the most important thing, and when it manages to creep into first place, it causes misery, insecurity, and disconnection.
