The Magician tarot card is Key I in the major arcana, and it's traditionally associated with manifestation, creativity, and ingenuity. In the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, The Magician is depicted as a powerful figure standing before the four symbols of the tarot suits: pentacles, cups, swords, and wands. This demonstrates that he has everything he needs to actualize his visions and dreams. He points a wand to the sky and his finger to the ground, symbolizing the popular occult maxim "As above, so below." He is a conduit that harnesses the power of the heavens and channels it into earthly creation. He is the genius of humankind. The Magician in the Genius Garden Tarot is just as clever and resourceful as the Magician in the RWS, but he recognizes a different source of his power--himself. He doesn't point upwards to a supreme deity that reigns on high. Rather, he recognizes god in everything, and everything as an equal manifestation of that divine power.
