Get off that hamster-wheel of content production and only start creating content that can actually make an impact on your business. It was an interesting talk, where I went through all the steps needed to identify the topics worth pursuing for your business, no matter the industry.

When it comes to getting your site ranked on Google searches, the trendy advice you hear a lot is always just to create great content. Which is great and you should be creating great content, but just having great content in and of itself is only going to get you so far. So do you know what the number one factor after creating, excellent, relevant content for your target audience, when it comes to search engine ranking is? It's links. But links are really hard to build. So how are you going to build them? #1 Guest Posting If you've never heard of guest posting before, it is basically you producing content for other people's blogs, and then they are linking back to your site in the author bio. The way this usually works is that you find relevant blogs that are in your niche, and then you reach out to the blog owners, and you pitch them your idea. Using special terms on Google combined with the keywords that you want to rank for, you can easily identify websites that allow for guest posting Things like: your keyword(s) + inurl:write-for-us your keyword(s) + become a contributor your keyword(s) + guest post by Are great ways to find sites in your niche accepting guest posts. #2 Providing journalists with content aka Help A Reporter Out When journalists need help producing a piece of content, where do they turn to? They go to HARO and post questions for expert quotes etc. If you can help them answer the questions they have, you can get some free press. There are lots of big international websites like entrepreneur.com, inc.com, etc. that are using HARO. #3 Using Side Projects to grow organic links Side Projects can help you save your business (like Unsplash did for their mother company), but it can also get you a ton of backlinks when other people are writing about it. #4 Broken Link Building Over the years, websites come and go. This also means the links that are included in pieces of content on a site. This tip involves you contacting the webmaster of a website to report broken links on his or her website. Of course, when you suggest a replacement, this will be a link to your website ;-) #5 10x Content If you create something epic, something so good that it is at least ten times better than your competitor that is currently ranking on number one of the search results page. People are inclined to change the links they have in their current articles to updated with a better resource for their listeners. Brian Dean coined this the Skyscraper Technique. Find a good ranking piece Create a 10x better piece content Reach out to websites linking to the original piece using the following template: Subject: Hi [NAME], I just read your article “[ARTICLE TITLE]” Email: Hey [NAME], I’m a long-time reader of your site, ever since I read “[OLD POST TITLE]”. I just wanted to let you know that in your article “[POST TITLE](LINK)” you link to one of my favourite articles ever: “[NAME OF ARTICLE](LINK). I absolutely love that resource. You know what? I actually set out to make something similar: [YOUR URL]. It’s like [ARTICLE NAME], but more up to date and comprehensive. You may want to consider linking to my article from your page. Either way, I’ll see you around at [SITE NAME] and I’ve also shared the post to our following on Twitter. Have a great day, [YOUR NAME] ► Read more tips on our blog

I know as a content marketer myself how much time and effort goes into creating that right piece of content. And of course, finding the right medium to publish it to get the results that you need to help grow your business. However, just hitting that publish button is not enough, and maybe you're on a very small team, and you can't produce content all the time? So in this video, I'm going to explain to you how you can drive thousands of visitors to your content, how you can find new content to share to your audience, and best of all, it's free. I will be talking about an app that is named one of the most important apps of all time by CNET. It's called Flipboard and using it will only take around five to ten minutes of your time per day. As a marketing channel, it is also one of the easiest ways to drive thousands of page views to your site as it can introduce your brand and your content to an audience of more than a 100 million people. The only thing you have to do to get noticed and get the word out there is just adding content to a magazine you create yourself within the app. It's a little bit like Pinterest; it also has a browser extension that allows you to Flip, instead of Pin a piece of content. And instead of it being visible on a board, readers can consume the content by viewing it in a beautiful magazine. If you want traffic to your website, Flipboard is by far the easiest way to get it with the least amount of efforts. Why? Well, unlike any other social media network, Flipboard is super easy to get started. From account creation to beginning to see results, it can all be done overnight. On top of that, you don't need a large following to start to see results. Because when you start adding content to Flipboard, it automatically assigns a category like Marketing, Business, Advertising, or even Recipes. So it doesn't matter which content you "flip" into your magazine, their algorithm automatically scans for content being added, and it can feature it as the best content for your category every single day. Isn't that great? I mean you, if you don't need to spend lots of time trying to build a social following, it means you can focus on the real job, and that is curating content There are a lot of different ways you can use Flipboard to promote your business. Let's have a look at some of them. #1: Using Flipboard to cover what is happening in your niche #2: Using Flipboard as a press kit #3: Using Flipboard for brainstorming and internal market research #4: Using Flipboard for your product catalogue or as a photo album #5: Using Flipboard to market your content Content should not live in a vacuum. Flipboard is an excellent way to get your content in front of a lot of readers and isn't that what we all want when we produce a piece of content? There is no reason not to add Flipboard to your list of social networks and start seeing results straight away as well. It will help you get your content seen by a highly targeted group of people interested in the topics you're writing about. It will drive engaged traffic and hopefully new leads in your direction. That's it for this episode. ► If you need help growing your business check out our ad agency User Growth @ https://usergrowth.io/ ► Read more tips on our blog https://usergrowth.io/blog/how-to-use-flipboard-to-grow-your-content-marketing-reach/

Do you know how much your customers are worth to your organization? Do you know how much money you can spend on your company to acquire new customers? Let's talk about Customer Lifetime Value or CLV. It is the most important metric to get your head around if you're going to do effective digital marketing or any digital marketing for that matter. We will also give you five tips to increase repeat customers and lifetime value. Knowing your CLV will help you answer three fundamental questions for your business: Are you paying enough to acquire customers from each marketing channel? Are you acquiring the best kind of customers? How much can you spend on keeping them sweet with email, social media or other ways of delighting your customers Finding answers to these questions will help you focus on and grow your business. And when your business is growing, and you start to get different in house teams. Product, marketing, advertising, and sales teams can use CLV to calculate how much to spend on acquiring new customers, retaining existing customers, and their ROI on marketing campaigns. So how do you calculate your CLV? There are a couple of different ways to calculate this. Some more complex, that takes into account things like churn rate, discount rate, contribution margin, retention costs, etc. Some less complex. We're going to look into calculating CLV for your e-commerce business: (Avg Monthly Revenue per Customer * Gross Margin per Customer) ÷ Monthly Churn Rate Let's look at how to increase the lifetime value of your customers. Tip #1 - Offer Great Service and Great Customer Experience: You increase the likelihood of people working with you again and wanting to return to either get your service or get your product another time. Tip #2 - Stay On Their Radar: 97% of people that go to your website or interact with your brand for the first time don't convert. It doesn't mean they aren't the right customer or they're not a good fit for your business. It just means they're in a different spot in the sale funnel. Maybe they're just researching. If you follow up with them and stay on their radar using retargeting ads or any of the other myriad of marketing opportunities out there, you're able to keep that top of mind awareness and you're able to follow the Marketing Law of 7. Tip #3 - Automate Your Processes: The last thing you want to do is spend all this time money and energy in driving people to your website, getting them to fill out a lead form, or maybe they made a purchase, and then they completely fall off your radar, and you never talk to them again! Set up some automated process with email automation and with CRM lists, and you can develop a funnel to continue nurturing these customers, so they come back to you when it's time for their next service or product. Tip #4 - Ask For Referrals: If you aren't asking for referrals, you're relying on luck. You need to give your customers an opportunity to brag about you. They've already taken that risk. Now you've developed a trust relationship with them so give them an opportunity and an incentive to brag about their decision to their friends and their family. It's a great way to generate new leads. Tip #5 is to thank them and follow up You need to say thank you! Appreciate the fact that they're spending their hard-earned money with you and recognize that. Remember it costs five times more to generate a new customer than it does to keep an existing customer. Read more tips on our blog: https://usergrowth.io/blog/customer-lifetime-value/

How To Write Facebook Ad Copy That Converts

Number 1: asking questions The easiest way to write an engaging headline is to make it in the form of a question. Questions always grab people’s attention and draw them into getting the answer. Research by Social Influence even goes as far as stating that headlines in the form of questions received 150% more clicks than headlines that just form a statement. And if you include the word “you” in a questioning headline it made it receive even 175% more clicks! Number 2: Giving an order Another great way to make your ad headline more powerful is when you use commands in your headlines to help inspire interest. Frances Ylana, a visual communications lecturer at the University of Texas suggests when crafting an effective Facebook ad headline, you should start by communicating the command or action you want your reader to take up front. It becomes even more powerful when you use the other elements of your ad like your visual, the descriptions etc. to paint the full picture. Number 3: Listing a benefit If you can show the benefits of your product or service to your user in a headline this can do wonders as well. Don’t automatically try to sell something to the reader, but rather try to help them. According to entrepreneur.com, a headline that clearly states how your offer will benefit the reader is a better way to drive clicks and conversions instead of just listing the features. Number 4: Inspiring curiosity Curiosity works great for headlines, according to George Loewenstein of Carnegie Mellon University, there is this concept called the curiosity gap or the gap between “what we know and what we don’t know”. The theory is based on the fact that if you only give a person half of the information, he or she likes to fill in the blank with new information. So how can you apply this to your Facebook ad headlines? Simple, for the reader of your ad it is almost painful to find out there is something they don’t know until they can fix it by learning something new. Number 5: Leveraging lists The last things we want to address is listicles. Maria Konnikova thinks that the reasons why listicles have grown so popular over the last couple of years have to do with how your brain works. When your brain sees some form of information, it tries to process what it is reading. Numbers are a great way to help break up all of the written content that you’re exposed to on a daily basis. ► If you need help growing your business check out our ad agency User Growth @ https://usergrowth.io/ ► Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/usergrowth/ ► Read more tips on our blog: https://usergrowth.io/blog/how-to-write-facebook-ad-copy-that-converts/
