This episode was such an honor to bring to fruition. Linda Ruth Dickinson is hands down my favorite living artist and I've admired her ability to capture where heaven meets earth on canvas for many years. Having the opportunity to sit with her paintings always brings me such an immense sense of peace, and getting to interview her for this episode was truly transformative. Listen along as Linda takes us into the deeply personal and spiritual way she brings her art to life and shares her greatest inspirations for creating the undefinable and unparalleled beauty seen in her paintings. I had the great pleasure of touring one of her recent exhibits at UNC Rex Hospital and will have footage of that tour posted on my Instagram page for you to see and get a sense of Linda's incredible ability to generate peace with her art. This episode features a very fun interview with award-winning designer, artist, owner of Cordella Bridal, and my former Nordstrom co-worker, the one-and-only Marie Cordella. This candid conversation is full of hot takes and big laughs as Marie and I discuss her journey from a child of the arts to a student at Parsons to becoming a renowned bridal designer, and everything in between. Marie gives us a peek into her process of custom-designing each gown to suit the unique aesthetic of each of her brides. She also takes us through the history of bridalwear, shares her deep reverence for art, fashion, and shoes, and reveals the unexpected reason she chose to go to grad school at NC State's College of Design over all the rest. A warning to anyone who may be sensitive to this– Marie also opens up about being in Manhattan on 9/11 and witnessing the profound devastation that occurred. And please pardon our French. We were wide-open and I tried to use my best discretion with the editing.
Who is she? This ‘divine feminine' everyone's going on about? She is softness. She is sensitivity. She is spaciousness. And, when the occasion calls for it, she is ferociousness. She is for everyone and she is the key to recalibrating this severely imbalanced Earthly society. Follow me on a journey into the rhythms of Mother Nature as we explore concepts such as the power of love, the essential purpose of receptivity, and why the ankh is such a divinely guided symbol. This episode features a wide-open, informative, and fun-filled conversation with my new friend, Mokshani, who is the ambassador of our local Ram Dass satsang. Listen along as Mokshani opens up about how her spiritual path has made the most profound impact on her mental health, the miracles that ensued on her recent trip to India, her career as an occupational therapist, and her observations about the ways she's seen Western medicine begin to integrate more ancient Eastern wisdoms into its practices. We also discuss the most fun and fascinating aspects of living here in the South, and our shared lifelong appreciation for classic rock and boy bands. For context, when we discuss Maharaj-ji, we are referring to Neem Karoli Baba who was Ram Dass's very beloved guru and was also believed to be the reincarnation of the Hindu monkey god, Lord Hanuman. There are many stories recounting Maharaj-ji's playful spirit and I think he may have mischievously been messing with me as I set up the audio for this interview, so my apologies for the sound quality and that my voice sounds a bit distorted— though, fortunately, Mokshani does not. I know you'll thoroughly enjoy her magnetic energy and her way of being as she shares her take on life. Also, we decided to record outside because it was such a pretty day so you'll get to enjoy lots of ambient noises from the surrounding birds, planes, helicopters, and wind. I appreciate your grace as I continue to learn on the job! On a more serious note, I happen to be publishing this episode just one day after a horrific event took place, where over 100 people lost their lives in a stampede that occurred at a satsang event in Hathras, India. Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in India who are suffering as a result of this incident, as well as to all beings who are suffering around the world right now.
