"Feel and timing” is a mysterious concept for many riders because no one ever explains what it actually is, or how to grow it. In this episode, Jake breaks it down into what he calls the "four-factor awareness model" — Softness, Acceptance, Balance, Rhythm (SABR). These four layers act like tumblers on a combination lock: at first you just reward basic physical compliance, then mental relaxation, then true balance, and finally rhythm as the capstone. SABR gives you a roadmap, both for teaching any maneuver and refining your own feel in the saddle. If you've ever wondered how expert trainers seem to “just know,” this episode decodes the structure behind that awareness.

“Find strong men to hang out with who you can feed off of and who will challenge you and encourage you in the best possible way.”  Strength is more than muscle—it's discipline, clarity, and the refusal to settle into weakness. When men trade ambition for excuses, or numb themselves with comfort and distraction, they lose the ability to protect, to provide, and to lead. Softness might feel easier in the moment, but it leaves men exposed.  Jake Giffin lays it out: identity shapes destiny. Men who see themselves only as sinners or victims stay stuck in cycles of anger, fear, and insecurity. But when they root their lives in strength and conviction, they become the men their families and communities can trust. He shares how proximity—both to God and to other strong men—defines the path forward.  Jake Giffin is a men's coach and business leader who blends biblical wisdom with practical psychology. His mission is to call men out of weakness, push them toward strength, and remind them that soft men are always targets.  Learn more & connect:   https://www.jakegiffin.com/  Also in this episode:  • Galatians, chapter 5 (Bible)  • John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion  • Jeff Hopf's poem: Strong Men Create Good Times, Good Times Create Weak Men, Weak Men Create Hard Times  You're invited to come to a Sovereign Circle meeting to experience it for yourself. In this guided meditation with poet and teacher Henry Shukman, learn how allowing discomfort, rather than resisting it, can open the door to greater calm and self-compassion.How To Do This Practice:  Find a Comfortable Position: Sit comfortably, either upright with your head balanced or reclining, and relax your jaw, shoulders, and hands. Invite Warmth and Softness into the Body: Gently bring awareness to different parts of your body—chest, belly, seat, legs, and feet. Imagine a gentle sweep of rest and quiet spreading through you, like a soft, warm wave. Notice Any Unease Without Trying to Change It: See if you can detect any subtle unease or restlessness. Instead of pushing it away, simply acknowledge it. Soften and Warm the Whole Torso: Move your awareness to the shoulders, sides, back, chest, and belly. Imagine each area softening like warm wax. Let this warmth frame your torso, surrounding even areas of tension or discomfort. Hold What You Find in Loving Awareness: Rather than trying to “fix” or remove unease, allow it to be held by your warmth and softness.  Return Gently: When you feel ready, slowly bring small movements back into your body. Open your eyes and notice your surroundings, carrying a sense of warmth and acceptance with you. She's not in a power struggle with her husband—she's walking beside him, secure in her femininity and full of quiet strength. Letting go of control brings peace. If your heart is aligned with God's will, the actions will follow. Start with prayer. Start with softness. Start with surrender.

In this raw and resonant conversation, host Deborah Moffatt of The Healing Version sits down with licensed clinical social worker and founder of Restority Space, Fanny Tristan, to unpack the complex intersection of trauma, womanhood, and singlehood for Black and Brown women. Fanny shares her journey into social work and how her personal experiences as an eldest daughter shaped her trauma-informed approach. She highlights the unique emotional challenges that firstborn daughters face—especially perfectionism, anxiety, and depression—and how these intersect with systemic pressures around relationships, marriage, and motherhood. Together, Deborah and Fanny dive deep into the colonized mindsets around love, self-worth, and gender roles. Fanny explains how women often internalize shame or a sense of being "behind" when single in their 30s or 40s, and why therapy shouldn't always be about diagnosing but about creating supportive, holistic environments where women can thrive. Fanny also discusses how her platform, Her Soul Supply, offers live masterclasses, retreats (like her recent one in Oaxaca, Mexico), and group coaching for single Black and Brown women to heal, explore their identity, and form intentional sisterhood. This episode is a rich, unfiltered reminder that: You don't have to be chosen to be worthy. Softness requires safety. Sisterhood heals. Healing is political.

For many Black women, feelings were something to manage, not something to honor. But emotion is not the enemy. It's information. Is there a clear and deliberate agenda against men and boys in culture today? Or, is it simply a byproduct of the relative ease of modern times. My guest today, Pastor Douglas Wilson, makes the case that it's a combination of both and, more accurately, than “modern times,” a result of “wealthy times.” And, if that is the case, what should men do for ourselves and for the future of our children and this world? Today, Doug and I talk about rebuilding strength and order in our lives and instilling it in our boys, how exactly men can step up against the lunacy and degeneracy we see in modern culture, why men make inferior women and vice versa, why reality calls for us, as men, to reckon with the dangerous times in which we live, and why masculinity cannot (and, should not) be legislated away.
