"I've already given so much. Why can't I leave now?"You know it's not working. You know you're unhappy. You know you're shrinking, settling, waiting, justifying, hoping. And yet you stay — not because it'shealthy or mutual or fulfilling, but because you've already poured too muchin to walk away. That's the sunk cost relationship, and it's where The FantasyLoop™ does its quietest damage. In Episode 320 of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne Davis breaks down the sunk costrelationship — why intelligent, self-aware people stay in relationships thatare depleting them, and how to tell the difference between loving someone anddefending an investment. In this episode:— Why the brain would rather stay in something painful than face the grief of leaving — and why walking away feels like a death— How hope becomes a drug: the intermittent reward that keeps your nervous system attached to potential instead of reality (Stage 4 of The Fantasy Loop™)— Why you need your pain to mean something — and how that need traps you— The 8 characteristics of a sunk cost relationship, including the one most people miss: your body knows the truth long before your mind will admit it— The question that cuts through everything: "If I met this person exactly as they are today, would I choose this relationship?"Your years are not wasted. They taught you something. But they will keepcosting you if you use them as a reason to abandon yourself.Resources at secretlifepodcast.comTake the Fantasy Loop Quiz: quiz.thefantasyloop.comShare your secret: secretlifepodcast@icloud.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Celluloid Heroes: Episode 19Film: Stand By Me (1986)In the 1980s the 50s were cool again, with Classic Rock, nostalgia-themed restaurants, and nostalgic movies leading the way. But the great Rob Reiner chose to commemorate the end of the 1950s in a different way, with a mournful and elegiac story about four friends embarking on a search for a dead teenager's body, and a search into themselves in the legendary Stand By Me. The movie that introduced Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Jerry O'Connell and Corey Feldman to the world at large, also introduced our host to the works of Stephen King as he settles into a new town, finds new friends, and reflects on the truth that you never have friends quite like the ones you have when you're twelve. Confident Women Glow is back for Season 7.Instead of pretending we're picking up where we left off, Mo is opening the season with an honest look at what the break made room for—and what it taught her about growth, grief, rest, emotional responsibility, and returning to yourself. In this episode Mo reflects on the quiet work of integration, why the right decision can still hurt, and what one small strawberry taught her about recognizing signs of life before the full result appears. She also explores why protecting your emotional state matters in a world where so much is designed to provoke your reaction. The podcast also crossed 10,000 listens and downloads during the break—a reminder that growth doesn't only happen while we're performing, producing, or actively chasing it. Sometimes growth continues while we rest. These lessons become the doorway into a new season centered on self-discovery, self-trust, self-expression, rest, integrity, discernment, support, and the ongoing practice of returning to yourself. As you listen, consider this question: What do you know is true for you right now?Resources Mentioned and Show NotesThe Inner Strength Journal helps you recognize that sneaky voice of fear, pretending and performing so you can choose authenticity and courage instead. The Church of England has released yet another howler — their official “Prayer for the World Cup.”In this episode Revd Dr Jamie Franklin dissects the theologically shallow, barely comprehensible prayer, its widespread mockery, the questions raised at General Synod, and the woeful response from the Bishop of Lichfield and the Liturgical Commission. Why is the institution doubling down instead of apologising? Have you ever finally gotten the thing you thought you wanted —a healthy relationship, a quiet weekend, someone who texts backconsistently, no drama, no chaos — and instead of feeling relieved, your chest tightens? You start overthinking. You feel restless. Yousuddenly want to leave. Or you create a problem where there wasn't one. That's what Brianne Davis-Gantt calls Peace Panic — when calm feelsunsafe. In Episode 319 of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne breaks down why peopledon't actually fear chaos — they fear peace. And why, when you've beenliving inside The Fantasy Loop™, your nervous system has been trainedto believe intensity equals love, longing equals chemistry, anduncertainty equals attraction. So when peace finally arrives, your bodyasks: wait, where's the danger? In this episode, Brianne covers:— Why your nervous system interprets calm as a threat when chaos hasbeen your baseline — and why it asks "is this familiar?" instead of"is this healthy?"— How Peace Panic disguises itself as intuition: "I don't think I likethem anymore," "I lost the feeling," "they're too nice," "something'smissing" — when it's actually activation, not insight— Why this is exactly where people sabotage healthy relationships:mistaking regulation for boredom, consistency for lack of chemistry, and kindness for weakness— How Peace Panic connects directly to The Fantasy Loop™: the loopdepends on activation (Stage 2) and survives through on-and-offreinforcement (Stage 4). Peace interrupts the loop — and the nervoussystem protests— A 4-step framework for working through Peace Panic: don't decidewhile activated, come back to your body, practice staying in thepeaceful moment, and use the Truth Reset— Why healing feels boring before it feels beautiful — and why thatboredom is actually your nervous system grieving the excitement thatwas really survivalThe one question to sit with this week: when peace shows up in yourlife, do you receive it — or do you accidentally recreate chaos? There is nothing wrong with you. Your nervous system is simply speakingthe language it learned in childhood. And it can learn a new one — wherecalm equals connection, consistency equals safety, and peace finallyfeels like home.Resources at secretlifepodcast.comTake the Truth Reset on the Fantasy Loop website: thefantasyloop.comShare your secret: secretlifepodcast@icloud.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Welcome to episode #277!
The Fantasy Loop™ doesn't happen randomly. It shows up in seven very specific relationship dynamics and life situations — and once you can name them, you'll start seeing them everywhere. In your past relationships. In your current patterns. In your friends. And if you're honest, in yourself. In Episode 318 of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne Davis-Gantt breaks down the 7 dynamics most likely to trap you inside The Fantasy Loop™ — and introduces a one-question tool to start breaking out of it.THE 7 DYNAMICS:1. Emotionally Unavailable RelationshipsYou're not relating to who they are. You're relating to their potential. As one client said: "I wasn't dating him. I was dating the future version of him." That is The Fantasy Loop™ in one sentence.2. The SituationshipSituationships are Fantasy Loop factories. No labels, no clarity, just enough connection to keep hope alive. The problem: the less information available, the more your imagination fills in the gaps. And eventually, the fantasy becomes stronger than the actual relationship. You're not grieving reality. You're grieving possibility.3. Long Distance and Online ConnectionsThe less physical reality you have, the more imagination takes over. More time imagining than experiencing. More time projecting than observing. More time building than verifying.4. The Ex You Can't Let Go OfYou're not holding onto the person. You're holding onto the fantasy of what you thought the relationship was —and the future you imagined. And if you don't separate the fantasy from the reality, you'll stay emotionally attached long after the relationship ends.5. Rescue DynamicsHelping becomes fixing. Fixing becomes saving. Saving becomes your identity. You're no longer relating to who they are — you're relating to who you hope they'll become with your help. That is not connection. That is projection. And projection always creates The Fantasy Loop™.6. The Future Fantasy LifeWhen I lose weight, when I make more money, when I launch my business, when I'm healed — then finally I can be happy. Then my life will begin. The Fantasy Loop™ convinces you fulfillment exists somewhere in the future. But the future never arrives, because every time you reach a milestone, the fantasy moves the goalposts.7. The Fantasy Version of YourselfThis may be the most painful loop of all. You spend so much time chasing your imagined self that you abandon the person who is here today. "I keep comparing myself to a version of me that doesn't even exist." Falling in love with your potential while abandoning your reality. All seven look different on the surface. Different people, different situations, different stories. But underneath, they're all built on the same foundation: emotional emptiness, ambiguity, longing, unmet needs, projection. And Brianne introduces The Truth Reset — a one-question tool to interrupt the loop: What is true right now? Not what you wish was true. Not what you hope could be true. What is true right now?Because truth is always, always going to break the fantasy.Resources at secretlifepodcast.comShare your secret: secretlifepodcast@icloud.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We are more connected than ever before. And somehow we are more lonely than ever before. You can reach someone instantly. You can see hundreds of people at all times — text, DM, FaceTime, scroll, comment, react, consume. And yet so many people are quietly sitting at home feeling emotionally invisible, disconnected, unseen, unchosen, emotionally starving. In Episode 317 of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne Davis-Gantt breaks down the hidden epidemic of modern loneliness — what it actually is, why it's growing, what it looks like from the inside, and how to begin finding your way back to real connection. In this episode, Brianne covers:— Why loneliness is not about proximity. You can be in a marriage, a friend group, a crowded room and feel completely alone. Loneliness is about emotional connection — the feeling that nobody truly sees you, knows you, or emotionally meets you.— The paradox at the center of it all: we're cultivating instead of revealing, posting instead of sharing, watching instead of participating, consuming instead of belonging. The nervous system starves for what screens cannot give.— 5 characteristics of modern loneliness most people don't even recognize in themselves: emotional numbness, digital stimulation with emotional emptiness, surface level relationships, hyper independence as trauma response, and emotional exhaustion around socializing.— Why hyper independence is often a trauma response, not freedom — and why humans were never meant to carry everything alone.— The hard truth: loneliness often grows when we abandon ourselves trying to be accepted by others. Connection without authenticity still feels like loneliness. And when someone rejects your facade, it hurts a thousand times more than when they reject your real self.— How this connects directly to The Fantasy Loop™: emotional emptiness is Stage 1. Loneliness is often what drives people into the loop in the first place.— A 6-step framework for healing modern loneliness — starting with the smallest, most honest conversation you haven't been having.Loneliness is not proof you are unlovable. It's proof that you are human.Your nervous system was built to belong.Real connection begins where performance ends.Resources at secretlifepodcast.comShare your secret: secretlifepodcast@icloud.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Send us Fan MailThis episode features National Fire Sprinkler Association President Shane Ray, Assistant Chief Scott Williams, Blue Card Program Director Josh Blum, and John Vance. We break down why today's mega warehouses and cold storage facilities create fireground problems that residential tactics cannot solve, especially when fires start on the roof or exterior and burn inward. We share field-proven steps that keep firefighters alive by supporting sprinkler systems, slowing the pace, and managing the incident like a strategic operation instead of a quick interior push. • why “big box” and “mega warehouse” are different hazards • how roof and exterior fires drive bad sprinkler narratives • the Ohio case study where training and patience prevent firefighter losses • building the “big four” before entry: FDC supply, attack team, roof report, on-deck crew • why sprinkler-controlled fires are not compatible with routine ventilation • reading the riser plate, fire pump, and alarm panel to measure fire growth • requesting sprinkler and alarm contractors plus the water utility early • what NFPA 13E and NFPA 1700 change in SOPs, preplans, and training • why codes, owners, and access decisions shape outcomes long before dispatch Links shared / talked about by Shane Ray:NFPA Warehouse Fires Report: https://www.nfpa.org/education-and-research/research/nfpa-research/fire-statistical-reports/warehouse-structure-firesNFPA Challenges In Storage facilities: https://www.nfpa.org/education-and-research/research/fire-protection-research-foundation/projects-and-reports/identifying-challenges-to-fire-service-response-in-storage-facilitiesIndiana Fire In Large Distribution Center: https://www.firehero.org/2026/01/14/plainfield-fire-territory-warehouse-fire/The Blue Card Big Box Bulletin: https://conta.cc/3QpvT8uOrder the 3rd Edition of Fire Command here: https://bshifter.myshopify.com/products/new-fire-command-3rd-editionFor Waldorf University Blue Card credit and discounts: https://www.waldorf.edu/blue-card/For free command and leadership support, check out bshifter.comSign up for the B Shifter Buckslip, our free weekly newsletter here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/fmgs92N/BuckslipShop B Shifter here: https://bshifter.myshopify.comShare this podcast with your friends, and don't forget to like and subscribe

What if your panic attacks, your explosive anger, youroverwhelming sadness that comes out of nowhere — what ifthose aren't proof that something is wrong with you? Whatif they're proof that something inside you is finally tryingto come back to life?In Episode 316 of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne Davis-Ganttintroduces a concept she's calling "trauma zombies" — what'sburied alive always tries to come back. Trauma doesn'tdisappear when we ignore it. It gets buried. And buriedisn't healed. Buried is just hidden. In this episode, Brianne covers:— Why trauma isn't about what happened to you — it's aboutwhat happened inside of you because of what happened to you.Two people can go through the exact same event and havecompletely different outcomes.— Why your body becomes a storage unit for everything yourmind couldn't handle as a child — fear, grief, shame, helplessness, loneliness. Nothing actually leaves. It justgoes underground.— How trauma zombies show up differently for differentpeople: panic attacks, unexplained rage, sudden sadness, constant anxiety, always waiting for the other shoe to drop— 13 signs that trauma may still be buried in your body —including things you'd never think to connect to old pain— Why your body keeps the score long after your consciousmind has moved on, and why healing isn't a mindset shift —it's helping your body realize the danger has passed— How this connects directly to The Fantasy Loop™: whentrauma rises and we don't want to feel it, many peopleescape into fantasy and obsession instead— A 5-step process for what to do when a trauma zombieappears — starting with one question that changes everything:"What is this feeling trying to show me?"— Why the goal isn't to destroy the trauma zombies. On this episode of the Feeding Fumbles & Fixes series of Beyond the Barn, host Katy Starr and Dr. Kelly Vineyard, PhD equine nutritionist, discuss some helpful tips to getting a healthy, shiny coat for your horse, including: Why some horses never achieve that healthy coat shine despite excellent grooming and care Why two horses consuming the same amount of protein in their diets can have dramatically different coat quality The surprisingly small dietary adjustment that horse owners have relied on for decades to help enhance coat shine If you've ever wondered why some horses seem to glow while others look dull despite your best grooming efforts, this episode will help you look beyond brushing, bathing and conditioning to better understand the nutritional foundation of a healthy, shiny coat.
Have you ever felt like the project manager of your relationship —the planner, the therapist, the reminder system, the emotionalregulator — and somewhere along the way, you stopped feelinglike a partner and started feeling like a mom?In Episode 315 of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne Davis-Ganttintroduces a term you haven't heard yet but won't be able tounsee once you do: CinderFellas. Men unconsciously seeking awoman to mother them — not love them, not partner with them. And before anyone gets defensive: this isn't about shaming men. This is about a dependency dynamic that both people create, and both people can change. In this episode, Brianne covers:— Why this isn't a masculine problem — it's a dependency problem, and it can happen in any relationship, including same-sex couples— How the "CinderFella" dynamic forms: society teaches boys howto build careers but never teaches them emotional intellect,so they grow into adulthood still searching for someone toprovide emotional containment— The irony at the center of it all: the more she mothers him,the less masculine he becomes — and the more masculine shebecomes. Nature hates a vacuum.— How this becomes The Fantasy Loop™: both people invest inthe potential of the relationship instead of the reality —he's fantasizing about eventually being rescued, she'sfantasizing about eventually being able to fix him— The questions every man needs to ask: Where am I outsourcingmy responsibility? Where am I waiting to be motivated? Wheream I expecting my partner to regulate emotions that belong to me?— The questions every woman needs to ask: Where am I over-functioning? Where am I rescuing? Celluloid Heroes: Episode 18Film: Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)We all have that one perfect day. That day that we will spend the rest of our lives remembering and talking about. In 1986 John Hughes gave us his version of that perfect day with a group of teens from the North Shore of Chicago Illinois; a story that has a much more melancholy undercurrent than most likely realize and for host Brad, marked the end of a very difficult year. This is the story of Ferris Bueller's Day Off.Follow Celluloid Heroes on INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/TheCelluloidHeroesPodFollow Brad Abraham at www.bradabraham.comShare your thoughts with us! Colic is one of the most common reasons for emergency veterinary calls for horses and many risk factors are tied to everyday feeding and management decisions. On this episode of the Feeding Fumbles & Fixes series of Beyond the Barn, host Katy Starr and Dr. Kelly Vineyard, PhD equine nutritionist, discuss common feeding mistakes and management practices that can increase your horse's risk of colic, including: The commonly overlooked daily factor that can disrupt normal gut function faster than expected The forage quality issue that could be working against your horse's digestive health How even minor changes in your feeding routine can create major ripple effects in your horse's hindgut It is always better to prevent potential issues than deal with the consequences later. Building a strong feeding foundation is key to supporting your horse's long-term digestive health, so you can feel confident you're giving them the best care possible!

Have you ever been consumed by someone you knew wasn't healthy for you? Replayed conversations on loop? Lived for a text back? Felt more alive with someone unavailable than with someone who was fully present? You are not weak. You are not crazy. You are caught in what Brianne Davis-Gantt calls The Fantasy Loop™ — a 7-stage nervous system cycle that keeps people addicted to unavailable love, unavailable people, and unavailable versions of themselves. In this pivotal episode of Secret Life Podcast, Brianne introduces The Fantasy Loop™ for the first time — the trademarked teaching framework she has spent years developing through her own recovery and her work with hundreds of clients. This is not about judging yourself. This is about finally understanding the cycle so you can break it.THE 7 STAGES OF THE FANTASY LOOP™:Stage 1 — Emotional EmptinessThe loop doesn't begin with a person. It begins with an inner void — loneliness, attachment wounds, unmet emotional needs, nervous system dysregulation. That emptiness becomes the doorway.Stage 2 — ActivationAn unavailable, inconsistent, or emotionally distant person appears and your nervous system lights up. What you think is chemistry is actually nervous system activation. This is where people confuse activation for love.Stage 3 — Fantasy ProjectionYour mind fills in the gaps. You stop seeing the real person. You project qualities onto them that don't exist and build an entire future based on potential, not reality. The brain becomes attached to the possibility instead of the person. The fantasy only thrives in uncertainty.Stage 4 — On and Off ReinforcementThe addiction deepens through intermittent reinforcement — just enough connection to keep you hooked, followed by withdrawal. Dopamine isn't driven by stability. It's driven by anticipation. This is why toxic attachments feel chemically addictive.Stage 5 — Obsession and Self-AbandonmentThe overthinking begins. Replaying conversations. Checking your phone. Losing your boundaries. Your world shrinks around the fantasy. The Fantasy Loop is not just about chasing someone. It's about abandoning yourself in the process.Stage 6 — Collapse and WithdrawalReality returns. They pull away, ghost, or the fantasy finally cracks. What follows isn't just heartbreak — it's withdrawal. Toxic attachment activates the same reward system as a chemical addiction. This is why people go back when they know it's hurting them.Stage 7 — ReattachmentInstead of healing the wound underneath, the brain searches for another high, another unavailable person, another fantasy. Different face. Same nervous system pattern. And the loop starts again.HOW TO BREAK THE FANTASY LOOP™:1. Awareness — you cannot heal a pattern you cannot see2. Regulate your nervous system — this is body-based attachment conditioning3. Heal the attachment wound underneath — anxious, avoidant, or dismissive4. Rebuild self-worth and boundaries from the inside out5. Choose reality over fantasy — and learn what real love actually feels likeYou are not broken. This is not a character flaw. This is a survival pattern. And survival patterns can be healed.Brianne Davis-Gantt is living proof.Resources at secretlifepodcast.comShare your secret: secretlifepodcast@icloud.com

What does “research -backed” actually mean in the horse industry and how much of what we hear is really science versus really good marketing? On this episode of Beyond the Barn, host Katy Starr chats with Dr. Brian Nielsen, professor of equine exercise physiology at Michigan State University, and Dr. Kelly Vineyard, PhD equine nutritionist to discuss scientific literacy and how to tell if something is truly backed by good research or when it just sounds convincing, including: Why some of the most believable horse product claims may not actually prove anything Red flags that make researchers immediately skeptical What horse owners should look for before spending money on feed products or supplements Plus, Dr. Nielsen shares hilarious stories from the racehorse world, the truth about placebo affects in horses and humans, and one “treatment” he swears has helped horses win races for years! By the end of this episode, you may never look at the phrase “research-backed” the same way again.
Celluloid Heroes: Episode 17Film: Back to the Future (1985)What can be said about Back to the Future that hasn't been said a million times already? The biggest hit of 1985, Robert Zemeckis' time-travel comedy is a classic film that defined the decade, spawned video games and a musical, and is as beloved today as it was 41 years ago. But what is the movie really about? The answer may surprise you, here, in a very special episode of the Celluloid Heroes Podcast taking us from Jimi Hendrix and Woodstock, to Sha-Na-Na on TV, to American Graffiti, Happy Days, and Grease, to the Hill Valley of 1985, 1955, and beyond.Follow Celluloid Heroes on INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/TheCelluloidHeroesPodFollow Brad Abraham at www.bradabraham.comShare your thoughts with us! On this episode of the Feeding Fumbles & Fixes series of Beyond the Barn, host Katy Starr chats with Dr. Kelly Vineyard, PhD equine nutritionist to discuss one of the most overlooked (and misunderstood) tools in your barn – your horse's feed tag, including: How to interpret feed tag numbers without being misled Why feeding directions are more than just a guideline The limitations of feed tags and what to look at beyond the label Whether you're feeding a performance horse, a senior or your light trail horse, this episode will help you look beyond the label and better understand how to build a balanced and effective feeding program.
